my question is where would the jays be without Dickey? they barely have 3 starters with him.

That's all hindsight. At the time of the Marlins trade our starting staff projected to be..

Morrow

JJ

Buehrle

Romero

FA/Happ

I think most of us were comfortable going with that at the time, considering the shambles our staff was in before the Marlins trade. We all thought our top four would be solid and would carry a mediocre #5.

The sad thing is, everyone sucks on this team. How did this all happen at once? Its really both unfortunate and a spectacle to behold.

I think the team bought into the hype off season and thought they'd just win. the ST was really peculiar and no one was ready to start. once they started and the wins didn't come the entire team was in trouble.

collective arrogance is what led them to where they are.

Romero was horrible last year and the team felt they needed extra pitching just in case they got injuries like last year. not justifying the move or being against it. obviously someone in the org felt they needed more depth. someone also didn't think D'Arnaud was going to be ok with the leg problems.

in the end I'd blame the players from thinking they were too good to be prepared and the decision from the team to give the vets so little playing time in ST.

I completely agree about ST. This team was neither physically nor mentally prepared to start the seasons. I really got worried when the split against a White Sox team that was struggling at the time. They had just won 2-3 against the Royals and I thought, 'ok, they're coming home, they'll get their game together against the WS'. I expected 3 of 4, but they barely split the series and then lost the 1st 2 against the Yankees. Anyway, can't wait till Sanchez and Nolin pitch again.

the lovista looks almost as stupid as the rays retarded bow and arrow s***.

they really didn't have to be this bad. the team has just now started to get close to where they should have been april 1st.

We mortgaged our future for this fker, and he can't even go more than 7 innings...

5 fking walks?

Thats our ace that we mortgaged the future for???

Really?

You know what's sad? I just came to the realization that they only player I was excited for in the trades was Reyes (and maybe JJ). I never liked Buherle, and I thought Boni was going to be a 2B, switch hitting Davis (partially right). The Rogers trade was stupid and the Dickey trade was stupider.

Had we gotten only Reyes and JJ, how much would that cost us in terms of players?

If they can sneak a few wins out, they might be ok heading into June, but they are really going to have to dig deep the next 3 or 4 weeks and show what they are made of, or it will all come crashing down.

Lol Mike Wilner still defending Gibby to the bitter end. Maddon's use of Rodney can't be compared to Gibbon's non-use of Janssen according to him.

I would actually agree with that, given we were the away team

No..... You're not close lol

I'll give you a hint, game tying homer

lol i knew exactly who you meant the first time, just knew it would bug you

AA looks really stupid when he says the whole Miami deal hinged on Bonifiasco. he's got Escobar's crappy attitude with no skill to back it up. sorry to bash on your bromance with Escobar, but it's true.

People should stop listening to him, he doesn't really provide any insight, just a cheerleader at this point.

He's right on this one. You don't use your closer in a tie game on the road.

I said when the previous homestand started that they needed to go 5-1 or 4-2. Now, after splitting in TB, they need to win the series in Boston and then have a lights out at home where they have really stunk up the joint.

lol your reply confused me actually, made me believe that you forgot Escobar or you thought his name was in the post :P

Why not? I agree you probably shouldn't start an inning with your closer, but if the team is about to lose the game, should we bring in Lincoln or Janssen? No point saving your closer for a save that never comes.

jays have no pitching left. they cant limp through the schedule until Hutch MAYBE comes back. we have no idea what he will be when he gets back in July. McInjured might have his arm explode, but I'll bet McGowan gets a start before Hutch is back.

especially when the chances of needing a closer over the weekend are pretty slim.

Sorry, I don't read the GDT and didn't catch any discussions on TV during the game. But why wasn't Janssen used?
