Chappy Community Moderator Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 Don't you even. I may just become an Astros fan before it's cool if that happened. Cool, then I would become post count leader.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 No where near as good as Sanchez Agreed, but Noah has the make up to be a quality starter in the bigs. d'Arnaud is athletic enough to convert him to 1B to negate his history of leg injuries. This trade could be bad,i mean Michael Young for Loaiza bad or worse.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 Cool, then I would become post count leader. Nah, I'd stay here and troll you guys.

If he doesn't develop his secondaries... d'Arnaud loses a LOT of value at 1B Young for Laiza was only really bad in hindsight. This was bad at the time, too.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 I wonder at what point AA throws in the towel. he's in denial publicly, but I'm sure he's s***ing bricks in the corner when no is looking.

o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 I dont know if his job is salvageable at this point.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 I dont know if his job is salvageable at this point. It's not about if it is or isn't, it's about whether he's delusional enough to think it is.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 It's not about if it is or isn't, it's about whether he's delusional enough to think it is. I agree. in his mind it might be. he is probably going to make the excuse that injuries, blah blah blah.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 I'm scared he makes a desperation move to save his job. Team president shouldn't allow him to make any trades without his approval...which might be worse since Beeston is the president.
Chappy Community Moderator Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 I dont know if his job is salvageable at this point. Well AA took a chance and it blew up in his face. In hindsight I am sure he wishes he stayed the course and didn't take this dramatic U turn and throw away his job in the process.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 Team president shouldn't allow him to make any trades without his approval...which might be worse since Beeston is the president. I'm sure Beeston fears for his job right now as well.
Chappy Community Moderator Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 Team president shouldn't allow him to make any trades without his approval...which might be worse since Beeston is the president. Beeston will be the one who probably encourages an ill advised trade.

If he doesn't develop his secondaries... d'Arnaud loses a LOT of value at 1B Young for Laiza was only really bad in hindsight. This was bad at the time, too. Why are sounding like we can't have both Sanchez and Syndergaard? Of course Sanchez has the make up. I'm just saying the future of our staff would be looking bright with both of them, along with Hutchison,Osuna and hopefully Drabek. Stock piling good young starters was smart on AA's part,as they all won't pan out. d'Arnaud doesn't project well at 1B ? Yes you may lose a bit of power there, but if there is plenty of power in the other parts of the line up,it's fine. What's wrong with .280 / .340 15-20 HR type at 1B ? I mean, that's what he's projected to do. Dickey wasn't worth the talent given up,especially after the Marlins trade.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 Well AA took a chance and it blew up in his face. In hindsight I am sure he wishes he stayed the course and didn't take this dramatic U turn and throw away his job in the process. the question is if Beeston pushed him into it or if he panicked because the big FA were all saying no when he made offers. we dont know...
Chappy Community Moderator Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 I'm sure Beeston fears for his job right now as well. I doubt he is fearful. He has a reputation and he will likely fire AA as the scapegoat anyways. That being said, he is a big part of this mess.
Chappy Community Moderator Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 the question is if Beeston pushed him into it or if he panicked because the big FA were all saying no when he made offers. we dont know... No we don't but they do and one or both of them have s*** the bed here. I am thinking both.
Chappy Community Moderator Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 I'm sure Beeston doesn't really give a f***. He's old, rich, and probably ready to retire. This.

The pitching was behind no doubt, especially with the injuries and Romero's implosion. However, overpaying in FA would've been the smart way to go.
Chappy Community Moderator Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 I wonder how Ricky feels getting demoted for Ramon freaking Ortiz.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 No we don't but they do and one or both of them have s*** the bed here. I am thinking both. I'd say that it's probably Beeston pushing him to use the money and AA not having a competent group behind him. in the long run Beeston and AA dont know s*** about baseball. without quality scouts and stat guys guiding them... well, here we are.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 I'm sure Beeston doesn't really give a f***. He's old, rich, and probably ready to retire. people like Beeston are all about power and they never have enough money.
Chappy Community Moderator Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 +1. The team was building up a nice core. The pitching was behind no doubt, especially with the injuries and Romero's implosion. However, overpaying in FA would've been the smart way to go. I think most of us would have been happy if he kept the course, and just brought in a legit SP and maybe beefed up the bench. It seemed like we were building to something big, but now we are going to be buried in payroll for the next couple seasons and who knows what AA will be able to muster up in the winter.
Chappy Community Moderator Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 I had a friend one time who got fired from Subway after two weeks on the job. They told him they just didn't have the hours for him. There was a help-wanted sign on the door he went through on his way out. Ricky probably feels like that. That friend was Ricky Romero wasn't it?
Chappy Community Moderator Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 I'd say that it's probably Beeston pushing him to use the money and AA not having a competent group behind him. in the long run Beeston and AA dont know s*** about baseball. without quality scouts and stat guys guiding them... well, here we are. The sad thing is, everyone sucks on this team. How did this all happen at once? Its really both unfortunate and a spectacle to behold.

That being said, he is a big part of this mess. If he's still around after the year I'm gonna flip my s***. I'm sure Beeston doesn't really give a f***. He's old, rich, and probably ready to retire. Meh, fair, but he'd better be on the hotseat.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 That friend was Ricky Romero wasn't it? and I thought you'd ask the more obvious question "you have friends" good to know people have friends afk
Rajaifailedgrade1 Verified Member Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 What a disgraceful end to the game... f***ing throw a strike The ump doesn't help though, the Umps in Major League Baseball are a f***ing joke...I mean afterall they don't earn much money and aren't suppose to be in the spotlight, but I suppose they can achieve some kind of stardom by taking over games with fking ******** calls. f*** umps f*** jays f*** Lincoln
