IBTrini Verified Member Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 ...it's wrong to take a job away from a human being Even if the employee is incompetent? I believe in the "Fair play" concept and to a degree I can tolerate human error however what I have seen recently surpasses this. In my opinion, and I am not saying I am right, umpires mistakenly believe they are the main players on the field. Their egos are huge and they are not willing to collaborate with other umpires in order to get a call right which is why they are there in the first place. Even if the electronic strike zone seen on TV does not line up with their own zone it befuddles me to see balls falling into the same area yet different calls are made to the two teams. I can handle consistency cuz different umpires have their own concept of where the strike zone should be however that was not the case recently. The systems needs to be overhauled cuz bad calls can break a team's momentum.
