John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted May 14, 2013 Posted May 14, 2013 What happened to Danny Barnes? On the DL with New Hampshire
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted May 14, 2013 Posted May 14, 2013 What do you think of Emilio Guerrero? I know this guy personally, I watched him grow and play. He's not very athletic but his frame. As a Hitter. -Swing-miss but great discipline for his age. -Good contacts but not very often (pro debut) -Gaps power for now. He's 6'4" 170 LBs, when he develops his physical the power will increase. As a Defender -For me, he looks static in the SS (slow feet). -His arm is decent -I see him more as a 3B.

theblujay Verified Member Posted May 15, 2013 Author Posted May 15, 2013 (edited) Some stuff from Shi Davidi on the SN broadcast. McGuire- Needs to work on consistency and has been passed by Jenkins/Nolin, but his velocity is up. Nessy- Coming back from a concussion, should be ready soon. Nolin- Might be the next guy in line if they need a starter. Said he's a "Jay Happ type", but with more upside. Osuna- Will probably need TJS, but they are waiting to see. Smoral- Probably starting in GCL. Davis and Alford- Probably starting in Vancouver. There was more, but I can't remember all of it. Edited May 15, 2013 by theblujay

Glad to see my blind eye wasn't deceiving me, I noted in his televised start that I'd be surprised if his good FB's weren't around 92 or 93.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 Pillar with 3 more hits. Kevin Pillarchiro

Stroman back on the 19th with New Hampshire and will be in the rotation as a starter
GD Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 Stilson made his first appearance this year for New Hampshire. 1.1 IP, 4K, 1H, SV. Holy damn, that's nice. I love his stuff. Why is Smoral starting in the GCL? Always thought he was pretty advanced.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 More evidence that Stroman to work as a starter: @RGriffinStar: AA said @MStrooo7 active Sunday and begin as starter at A-Dunedin 1-2 starts and then AA-New Hampshire. Staff saw him said looked great.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 LOL. The Dunedin Twitter feed is excellent @DunedinBlueJays: Wow we were trending in Toronto?! Thanks to all of our followers! ....but yeah mostly Dustin McGowan. @TrendsToronto: Dunedin Blue Jays, @dunedinbluejays is now trending in #Toronto http://t.co/aqsD7sgjX4
GD Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 Are you getting him and Stroman mixed up? I dunno, he's always just seemed quite polished for a HS lefty.
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 I dunno, he's always just seemed quite polished for a HS lefty. Yeah more advanced then the GCL but I read somewhere his growing body is making it hard to repeat his mechanics consisently. If thats true maybe he needs a lot more reps with the instructors. Hopefully by August he'll be in Vancouver

John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 Balbino was a 3b and was supposed to have massive potential with the bat, but he never panned out. Has big raw power but couldn't put anything together consistently. I think this is his is his 4th time at Lansing. I saw him last year in Vancouver and physically he's very impressive, but the baseball skills just elude him

Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 According to the camera guy in Lansing Balbino has a real clubhouse presents. No wonder Alex has kept him around so long.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 I see Lopes is struggling the past few games Noticed that too, might be a good thing to see if he adjusts. If he comes out of his funk, might be time to move him to Dunedin. I would speculate the adjustment he needs to make is increasing his BB%
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 I know I keep talking about him, but there really isn't much to get excited about in terms of hitting. Andy Burns, the guy has 19BBs and 15Ks which is great to see. He's playing 3B, any chance they try him at 2b? He's like 6'2 which might be too big. I wonder why he hasn't been promoted.
Caper Verified Member Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 I wonder why our number 1 prospect, Jim Negrych didn't play tonight.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 I wonder why our number 1 prospect, Jim Negrych didn't play tonight. There are just so many things wrong with this, namely, the fact that you continue to show a complete misunderstanding of the term prospect and how prospects in baseball work, not to mention a complete disregard of BABIP, lol. Unless you were being sarcastic, which I sincerely hope you were.
