Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted March 4, 2017 Posted March 4, 2017 If you can get Marco Estrada out of a 5th round pick, then you won. I don't agree with your premise however. He can have legitimate MLB success throwing 89-92 if his fastball has movement. Estrada's problem is that his fastball is flat. That's a strength, not a problem.

TheHurl Site Manager Posted March 4, 2017 Posted March 4, 2017 Would someone who's good at mathz be able to run a regression on Negrych with a .300 BABIP? my favourite post in this thread. He was like 9 when he made the post but still made me laugh at him.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted March 4, 2017 Posted March 4, 2017 Estrada's fastball being flat isn't his strength, it's the amount of spin he puts on it which causes it to look like a 'riser' type of fastball.

The fastball is flat because he uses a 4 seam grip and gets a lot of spin. He almost certainly perfected that pitch because it pairs well with the sinking action on his changeup.
