Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 Kiley McDaniel Once I get some time (should be next few days), I'll write up Hoffman and Alex Reyes. Hoffman was 93-97 last night, curveball flashed the same as it was before TJ and he threw the changeup a lot more often. TOR has made his delivery less aggressive, more upright and more crossfire and he throws a slower curve most of the time, saving the best one for when he needs it. He's also pitching to contact to limit pitch count and using his third best pitch (CH) more, which explains the lower than expected K rate. I'll elaborate more, but this is more wait and see than good or bad. More important to see if TOR lets Hoffman loose next year Thanks for post....shows much on here know jack s*** as usual
Mikeleelop Verified Member Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 Comment From Not the guy from the comment section Any comps for Anthony Alford? What kind of tools does he have? 70 speed, 55 hit, 45 power with 60 raw? Kiley McDaniel 70 run, 55 raw. Upside is enormous and this is his first year fulltime playing baseball http://www.fangraphs.com/bl... less than a minute ago
GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 It's almost like these people believe fastballs can't miss bats. COMPETITIVE SINGLES i
Mikeleelop Verified Member Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 Comment From Alex Heard anything about Clinton Hollon's start back from TJ? Kiley McDaniel Per FG prospects writer Chris King he was 91-93 t95 in his first extended spring start off TJ 3 minutes ago
Mikeleelop Verified Member Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 Comment From Curioso Matt Boyd. He's cruising through the minors but his projections are still kinda meh. Do you see him continuing his success or see him dive bombing fast? Kiley McDaniel Talked about him in last week's chat. Stuff randomly ticked up and he's a guy now. You'll see him higher on lists this offseason (and sooner from me, when I update the lists). via · 3 minutes ago
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 Thanks for post....shows much on here know jack s*** as usual You didn't know anything either.
Mikeleelop Verified Member Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 Comment From Mike Off of the Osuna question...would an org see more value in Osuna as a mid rotation starter or higher end reliever like he is right now? Kiley McDaniel mid rotation starter is worth more than basically every reliever in baseball, maybe minus a couple of them. It's just much harder to do one and people already thought Osuna may not be able to do it
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 You didn't know anything either. Maybe....maybe not
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 He got destroyed but he will never admit it. This is as close as you will get him to say it. I know, it's funny how some people can't take being wrong. Happens to everyone
theblujay Verified Member Posted June 23, 2015 Author Posted June 23, 2015 You didn't know anything either. His point was we don't know what he's being told. You were adamant you were right. Wrong once again
Mikeleelop Verified Member Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 Comment From mikeleelop why would the Jays change Hoffman delivery? Also your comment about "letting Hoffman loose next year" means he's holding back or just not a max effort guy? Kiley McDaniel This is Hoffman as an amateur. He's aggressive down the hill, exploding at the plate. He isn't that now, much closer to Aaron Sanchez mechanically. I hope TOR is toning it down, having him pitch to contact, not throw the hard CB (his best pitch), throw more CH as a way to limit the pitch count to protect his arm while it's more fragile, as he's coming off of elbow surgery. I don't know if that is the case, but I hope that's what it is.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 His point was we don't know what he's being told. You were adamant you were right. Wrong once again Where was I adamant? The issue here is that you're barely literate, please have someone else read things and explain them to you before having an opinion, mmk?

Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 Out of curiosity, how many times have you seen Hoffman pitch live? Live as in person....haven't had the chance yet Live as watching a game....quite a bit, more in college than pros obviously
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 I really like Hoffman and believe the K #'s will rise but there is no reason to pile on Boxcar here. He hasn't said anything that wasn't rooted in the facts.

nmrch Verified Member Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 Boxcar and all the other Hoffman skeptics are right, f*** Kiley McDaniel and all these useless f***ing scouts, they care more about a narrative than the facts. There is absolutely no excuse for Hoffman's horrible numbers, we can sit there and pretend like performance doesn't matter just because its our guy but things don't work that way. No one is saying Hoffman is a bust yet but results matter, always! This nonsense about secondary pitches or changing mechanics is just that, ultimately the game is about getting outs and so far Hoffman is not good at it.
nmrch Verified Member Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 I didn't assume anything. You guys did. Its one thing i've learned over the years, there is no argument that will defeat homerism, its just not possible. People will always have a problem with objectively evaluating "our" guys and magical reasons for why bad results don't matter will always pop up. How long did it take for people to admit that Deck McGuire was f***ing useless, or Chad Jenkins, some still think he's worth something.
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 I didn't assume anything. You guys did. You assumed the stats were proving your opinion while others tried to point out the stats were misleading for a possible multitude of reasons. Yet instead of conceding the fact that nobody knows for sure you decided to s*** on the opinions that differed from yours.
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 In assumptions He's discussing the numbers the rest of us are assuming they will improve or that we are lacking context. I disagree with Boxcar but he isn't wrong in what he has said.

One thing is for sure....some on here need to learn the Minors are not treated ike the Big Leagues by the players, the coaches, the front office, the game plans, etc.

The stats don't tell a comforting story is what you really mean. I'm not necessarily faulting you or anyone for this, homerism is understandable but to attack others because they can actually evaluate things objectively while still being a fan is ********.

Oh come on. The same guys pumping Snider based on his MiLB #'s are the same ones that said Yan who? Objective evaluation of MiLB stats is a fools errand.
