King Old-Timey Member Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 Patrick Murphy saying on his twitter he got another surgery, anyone have any clue what type of surgery? lol, his arm is f***ed. Consequence of drafting the injured pitchers strategy

Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 Al Skorupa As long as Hoffman returns to form (looks like it) he's an easy top 20 prospect in the game for me. #BlueJays Me pene creció!!

Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 Hutch has a 3.86 DRA. Nothing to be worried about. More like others will pass him. Stroman, Norris (most likely), Osuna, Hoffman (we all know how I feel), Boyd, FA#1, and possibly a FA/Trade#2 have a good chance to pass him come next spring. Assuming we don't have Buehrle or Dickey that's 30 million in payroll space to make us better.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 Here's how the rotation would shake down to start next year, having an optimistic view of the players you mention: 1. Stroman 2. FA/Trade Acquisition 3. Norris 4. Osuna/Boyd/Hoffman 5. Hutch Depth: Sanchez, swingman acquisition Hutch getting bumped just isn't likely. Dickey will be there, whether we like it or not
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 Sanchez for Hamels is fair (excess value wise). Sanchez + PTBNL (Pentecost) for Hamels + $15M would also be fair. Nobody want Sanchez when Hoffman name sound so sexy. Margot > Sanchez
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 Great article from Capital Jays (hat tip to NJH for bringing this blog to my attention) discussing the possilbe implications of the Vlad Junior signing. http://capitaljays.com/2015/04/29/the-blue-jays-vlad-jr-and-international-budgets/ (Apologies if already posted but I didn't see it.)

I don't see how that's fair for Philly. Hamels is a lefty ace with a 'relatively' good contract (compared to what someone with his pedigree would get if he were a FA). Sanchez would be considered 'top prospect' material, but if I were Amaro I'd ask for one more.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 It's fair in terms of projected surplus. Philly will easily get more, its just how star for prospect trades work. Also don't think Jays will trade Sanchez because he's Stroman's best friend and that would likely piss him off. Sure its a business etc.. but there is no denying how much that would hurt Stroman and I don't think the Jays would piss off their number 1 pitcher like that.

I don't think the Jays will care much about the bromance between the two. This is the same team that tore up the three headed monster of Synder/Sanchez/Nicolino
OtisNixonFan Verified Member Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 Anyone else a little excited to see how Clint Hollon handles Bluefield? The kid has major swing and miss stuff.

This team doesn't need to handicap itself to make two players comfortable.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 Trade Stroman for what? Hamels presumedly.
baubau Verified Member Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 Trade Stroman for what? It was just in response to the idea of not trading Sanchez to keep Stroman happy. You trade Sanchez for anything that makes the team better now and in the future and if Stroman has issues with it that effects his play, trade him as well. Doesn't have to be in the same trade or immediate but the notion of not trading someone to keep another player happy is bad management. Not saying trade Stroman for x package specifically. Hamels presumedly. I'd agree with JFaS on making Sanchez the ideal starting piece in that deal. Don't think there are many deals that I'd consider giving up Stroman on yet.

This is the same team that tore up the three headed monster of Synder/Sanchez/Nicolino I think its different when both are in the majors. Also Stroman is their best pitcher by far quite different than 3 guys in Low A.

HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 Some quotes from everyone's favorite AGM http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/farm-report-hoffman-tellez-progress-for-jays/ “He’s in extended (spring) right now, he topped at 97 the other day, so his arm strength is back,” says LaCava - On Cardona "LF Dwight Smith (.321/.365/.474, 2 HRs, 10 RBIs) – “We’ve taken (the switch to second base) off his plate. We saw plenty of it in spring training, we may revisit it in the future, but right now he’s going to concentrate on left field. He’s a solid left-fielder, and it looks like he’s starting to heat up, swinging the bat well" RIP Pompey RP Bo Schultz (1-1, 2.89 ERA, 5 saves, 0.75 WHIP) – “He’s been good. Power pitcher, he’s starting to become consistent with his slider, we’re encouraged with that.”
