GD Old-Timey Member Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 Tellez is clearly a top 30 prospect He's a 19 year old first base prospect in rookie ball. I'm not being aggressive with him.
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 Are Andy Burns and Taylor Cole even prospects?

Wasn't he the 11th overall pick just this year?
Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 I think Matt Boyd could become a serviceable #4/#5 starter. For $500k, there's value in that. The organization keeps yoyo'ing him from AA - A+ although I think he should be in AA for good. I think Taylor Cole is the guy to watch out for right now, classic case of a late bloomer. If he's back to the power pitcher he was when we drafted him (took 2 years off to do missionary work in TO), look out. He's a 24 year old who finally dominated the pitcher friendly FSL after his second go round. I see no reason why people should be excited over him.
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 Pentecost under the radar? Wasn't he the 11th overall pick just this year? Ya but he's really good. I don't think he gets the love he deserves. Way too early for this comp bit he reminds me of Paul Molitor.

I see no reason why people should be excited over him. He's been working hard toget back the arm strength he had pre-missionary trip and his velo is finally back up in to the low 90's which is great to see. Definitely has a shot at a MLB career but at his age he basically a finished product and I'm not sure he is anything more than a backend guy.

gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 Pompey 1-2 tonight and then was pulled from the game. I wonder if his leg is cramping again, probably being overly cautious with him.

burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 Apparently AJ Jiminez is having some elbow issues according to Davidi. Anyone know anything about this? I was looking forward to seeing him in September.

ace3113 Verified Member Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 Taylor Cole can be a guy. Ya he's 24, but he's more like 22 in terms of pitching experience and development because of his 2 year mission he took. I don't know much about his stuff, but could be a late-bloomer like Jacob DeGrom.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 Jays traded for a scrub A ball pitcher from the Mets... His name is Hunter Carnivale. Definitely now on the short list for "best names in the system" (particularly if you pronounce it Carnivàle, which we most definitely should...)
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 People still care about AJ Jimenez? Apparently he is a really good framer and has a great arm (although I don't know about anymore since TJS). If the framing is as good as reported he could be better than Eric Kratz which as we all know is worth a lot of value. I think he will be a good backup catcher.

He needs to be a stud behind the plate because it looks like he won't be anything at all at the plate.

If Brian McCann, Molina and kratz taught us anything you only need to be really good at one thing. Pitch framing. If Jimenez can do that on a rookie contract. Yowza
billjc33 Verified Member Posted August 8, 2014 Posted August 8, 2014 Any word on why Pompey was pulled last game? I find it strange that "leg cramps" keep you out for 3 games and then again 2 games later.
