GD Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2013 Posted August 23, 2013 Rowdy Tellez has been pretty disappointing so far.... Hopefully our batting development team can fix him Don't get your hopes up lmao
ace3113 Verified Member Posted August 23, 2013 Posted August 23, 2013 https://twitter.com/jared_macdonald/status/ I'll give Rowdy at least a full year of rookie ball before I start to get worried about him. He's going to take some time to develop for sure, but on the plus side his k/bb rate (11.5bb% to 19.5k%) so he can take a walk and he's not striking out that much.

Agreed, it's a big adjustment for an 18 year old, and he's posting solid PD numbers on a low BABIP. Not gonna worry about him until 2015.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2013 Posted August 23, 2013 Miguel Castro 7 Scoreless, 2H, 6K's FIP = [(13*HR)+(3*(BB+HBP))-(2*K)]/IP FIP = [(13*0) + (3*0) - (2*6)]/7 FIP = -1.71 + 3.20 (constant) FIP = 1.49
theblujay Verified Member Posted August 23, 2013 Author Posted August 23, 2013 Damn, I'm on the Castro bandwagon.
theblujay Verified Member Posted August 23, 2013 Author Posted August 23, 2013 So Sanchez isn't scheduled to start today? So I guess 3 rainouts in row means he's missing his start. Great
beachbum Verified Member Posted August 23, 2013 Posted August 23, 2013 According to the dunedin broadcaster he wasn't scheduled yesterday either because he had warmed up and was ready to start the 2nd inning (his first) before the rain came on Wednesday
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2013 Posted August 23, 2013 Thanks King, very interesting read.

DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 He's done? MiLB has him pitching the 5th but they haven't updated in awhile.
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 Still going. Walked the first batter of the 5th.
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 According to MiLB he just gave up another run.
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 Oh s*** nvm. Got the runner at home. Kingsport Top of the 5th Champ Stuart walks. With Yeixon Ruiz batting, Champ Stuart steals (11) 2nd base. Yeixon Ruiz grounds out, catcher Jorge Saez to first baseman Angel Rojas. Jeff McNeil singles on a line drive to left fielder Derrick Loveless. Champ Stuart to 3rd. Victor Cruzado walks. Jeff McNeil to 2nd. Jeyckol De Leon pops into a double play in foul territory, first baseman Angel Rojas to catcher Jorge Saez. Champ Stuart out at home.
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 Well one of them is wrong but from the boxscore;

[TH=bgcolor: #000000, colspan: 12]Bluefield Blue Jays[/TH]

Player IP H R ER BB SO HR ERA

Chase DeJong 5.0 4 1 1 4 9 0 3.29

The MiLB scores are often behind so he's probably done now.
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 I think they forgot to put Rosario into the game and put the 5th inning as pitched by DeJong. https://twitter.com/bluefieldjays/status/ https://twitter.com/bluefieldjays/status/ This is pretty convincing he was done after 4 Definitely convincing but, I've seen more mistakes on Twitter than in the MiLB boxscores. I'm sure which ever one is wrong will fix it soon.
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 I think he's gone 6 now.... Kingsport Top of the 6th Joe Tuschak grounds out to first baseman Angel Rojas. Jeff Diehl called out on strikes. Amed Rosario grounds out, pitcher Chase DeJong to first baseman Angel Rojas.
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 Aw, that's slightly disappointing. Still a great outing from DeJong though.
ace3113 Verified Member Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 GCL played earlier today Urena 1-3 with a bb Smoral with by far his best performance as a pro 4ip 2h 0r 0bb 5so (4-1 gb/fo) Brentz 1ip 0h 0r 1bb 1so Solarte 1ip 0h 0r 0bb 2so Smith 1ip 1h 0r 0bb 1so Good pitching performances all around.

theblujay Verified Member Posted August 25, 2013 Author Posted August 25, 2013 So Sanchez sucked today. But McDonald isn't worried
ace3113 Verified Member Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 Norris with a solid game today 4ip 3h 1er 1bb 4so
billjc33 Verified Member Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 McGuire with a steller outing today. I personally gave up on this guy thinking his ceiling is AAA and maybe filling in as an occasional injury relief. Anyone think this guy can put it together and be a inning eating 4/5
billjc33 Verified Member Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 I cant wait for the season ending top 20 prospect list. Whoever puts that list together is going to have to do some serious shuffling. Jacob Anderson, Griffin Murphy and the dissapearing act of Adonys Cordona need to go. I know Cordona is young but what happened to him? 1. Sanchez (wish it was Syndergaard) 2. Osuna 3. Stroman 4. Norris (putting it together thank god!) 5. Nolin 6. Davis 7. Jimenez 8. Nay 9. Dean 10. Hollon 11. Barreto 12. Pillar 13. Burns 14. Stilson (has the stuff but a relief pitcher) 15. Tirado 16. Robson 17. Smith Jr 18. Dejong 19. Lopes 20. Alford (here for skill set but you have to actually play baseball to be a prospect) honorable mention Lugo, Labourt, Gomez, Nessy, Pompey, Smoral
GD Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 If we're doing top 20 prospects idk 1.) Aaron Sanchez 2.) Robrto Osuna 3.) Marcus Stroman 4.) Daniel Norris 5.) DJ Davis 6.) Franklin Barreto 7.) AJ Jimenez 8.) Sean Nolin 9.) Alberto Tirado 10.) Mitchell Nay 11.) Jacob Brentz 12.) Dawel Lugo 13.) Rowdy Tellez 14.) Matthew Smoral 15.) Andy Burns 16.) Christian Lopes 17.) John Stilson 18.) Clinton Hollon 19.) Anthony Alford 20.) Dwight Smith, Jr. Oh and I don't have guys like Pillar and Goins on this list because they're in the bigs. Personal choice. The next guys in my top 50 are guys like Dean, DeJong, Cardona, Nessy, Pompey, McGuire (prove me right Deck!).
ace3113 Verified Member Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 My list would be as follows 1) Aaron Sanchez 2) Daniel Norris 3) Marcus Stroman 4) Roberto Osuna 5) Sean Nolin 6) Mitch Nay 7) Franklin Baretto 8) Dawel Lugo 9) Alberto Tirado 10) DJ Davis 11) Matt Smoral 12) Jairo Labourt 13) Richard Urena 14) AJ Jimenez 15) Andy Burns 16) Zak Wasilewski 17) Clinton Hollon 18) Dwight Smith, Jr. 19) Emilio Guerrero 20) Tom Robson HM: Matt Dean, Dalton Pompey, Shane Opitz, Ryan Borucki, Anthony Alford, Alejandro Solarte, Miguel Castro, Chase Dejong, Adonis Cardona, Christian Lopes, Santiago Nessy, Michael Crouse, John Stilson, Matt Boyd, Rolando Segovia, Deiferson Baretto.

She's going to look a lot better with the 2 early draft picks next year. I'd put Emilio Guerrero in the top 10.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 My list would be as follows Wow, bold on Wasilewski. What about Ramon Ortiz? Die.
