Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted March 28, 2018 Posted March 28, 2018 Probably the GOAT Spring Training moment.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted March 29, 2018 Posted March 29, 2018 I believe that TCA made an illegal add. Jordan Hicks has never pitched a game above A ball.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted March 29, 2018 Posted March 29, 2018 Our rule is actually worded: "Unowned prospects that did not hit AA or higher in the previous year cannot be added to MLB rosters on Yahoo, even if they hit AA, unless they are called up to the big leagues. If such players are called up in real life, then they can be added in Yahoo as soon as their MLB parent club adds them to their 25 man roster..." So looks like TCA played it right.

Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted March 29, 2018 Posted March 29, 2018 My god, Matt Olson looked like he hit that one 120mph off the bat.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted March 29, 2018 Posted March 29, 2018 My god, Matt Olson looked like he hit that one 120mph off the bat. I'm rooting for you this year Boxy
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted March 29, 2018 Posted March 29, 2018 I'm rooting for you this year Boxy Thanks bud, but I think my pitching is too s*****.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted March 30, 2018 Posted March 30, 2018 Welp, I f***ed everything up in a morning haze. Saw JF added Giolito who I knew was an owned prospect, checked the sheet and thought he was owned by someone else (and all the prospect call-up thresholds BS) and dropped him. Caught my error and added him back to his team, but apparently even commish tools throw him back on tomorrow. Apparently can't edit the transaction timelines on the same day (to make addition come up same day), can do it for tomorrow... So basically I f***ed JF out of a start by trying to do something good before an 'owned player' started for him. Don't know what to do, but accept full responsibility. He was on the bench when I dropped him, any chance you weren't going to start him? ... yeah whatever the league decides, I am fully at fault.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted March 30, 2018 Posted March 30, 2018 or was that add only going on your team tomorrow anyway? b/c it was just at 9:30 this am? Did I only theoretically f*** it up? edit; ok, so I have double f***ed up in a haze and it looks like things will be ok. f***; don't do anything in the morning on a weekend
Laika Community Moderator Posted March 30, 2018 Author Posted March 30, 2018 lollll yeah it would be real nice if commissioner roster changes weren't tied to the same next-day transaction system. Yahoo why!!!
TheHurl Site Manager Posted March 30, 2018 Posted March 30, 2018 ... yeah whatever the league decides, I am fully at fault. Just picking a random number here but I think forfeiting all your wins in week 4 sounds like a fair punishment.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted March 30, 2018 Posted March 30, 2018 you can change it to same day as long as its before any games start. I think that's a better thing for everyone anyway. Have we ever polled the league on that? The change to that setting also takes a day however lol
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted March 30, 2018 Posted March 30, 2018 No to same day transactions. The problem is once a game has started, that player becomes locked and you can't drop them til the next day then. It makes late night adds from emerging situations almost impossible. I am staunchly against same day transactions.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted March 30, 2018 Posted March 30, 2018 you can just do that first thing in the AM tho. Or any time after 12:00? not sure about that second part.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted March 30, 2018 Posted March 30, 2018 you can just do that first thing in the AM tho. Or any time after 12:00? not sure about that second part. Nope. "Next day" in Yahoo terms is about 3 or 4 am. We should not change our entire transaction process based on one tiny goof up. Same day has many more pratfalls than our current mode. I superveto filibuster this discussion.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted March 30, 2018 Posted March 30, 2018 So a new closer is anointed at 930 pm and you notice before the rest of the league, but oh no, now your players are all locked and your advantage is gone. Its idiotic.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted March 30, 2018 Posted March 30, 2018 I guess I'm not understanding the issue. When a game starts, I can still put a transaction in involving a bench player can't I? Once games start for a day, nobody can add anyone till the next day, that's how it works. Just gives you the opportunity to add guys for the day before games (all games, not just the specific players game) start. I could be wrong, but I'm not sure what your are concerned about is an issue. Also, to be clear, I'm not suggesting this because of my stupid f***-up. Suggesting because I think it would be a legit improvement across the board. Like if a prospect gets called up with little press/notice, you could pick him up for that day. Same for a late DL assignment (or one you missed while having a real life).

z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted March 30, 2018 Posted March 30, 2018 huh, maybe you're right. it does say 'each players game' in the commish tools. Figured it would be like ESPN's setup, which is more like I described.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted March 30, 2018 Posted March 30, 2018 have you played in a league like this before dinger? I'd love to f*** around with it to see how it works vs EPSN. That system is great.

Figured it would be like ESPN's setup, which is more like I described. Yes he is right. Dinger and I are in another league where we have same day transactions. All players are locked once their team plays a game until the next morning (which is never consistent when that time is). I won't be in Mountain time for much longer but it's a real disadvantage to West coast people. We tend to wake up later also lets say a player is put on the DL a few hours before game time...and his team is in warm up when you notice. You couldn't DL that player. I could add you as a co-manager in the league for a couple days so you could see it for yourself.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted March 30, 2018 Posted March 30, 2018 wow lame, another reason ESPN is the superior platform Thanks for the clarification guys.

The point I'm making is that you can't make an add because you can't drop a player because he's already locked because his game started two hours ago. You feel me brah?
TheHurl Site Manager Posted March 30, 2018 Posted March 30, 2018 wow lame, another reason ESPN is the superior platform Thanks for the clarification guys. If ESPN got rid of the confirm button and the separate DL and trade pages I could buy in. But those three things make it so useless. CBS has the best platform by far but it's a paid site.

You feel me brah? yeah I didn't feel ya, but it seems like it was because I was basing it on how EPSN work, that being the only other league I'm in with 'today' adds. In that system when a game starts there is no more adds, so any add you are queuing up is for tomorrow (when that player isn't locked anymore). Hurl set me straight that it is different on Yahoo.

TheHurl Site Manager Posted March 30, 2018 Posted March 30, 2018 the separate DL is weird and seems so unnecessary, but its really nbd. I've never played on CBS before. Much better than Yahoo? Our baseball league is 27 years old now so was originally set up to be worked through getting the stats out of the paper and only weekly moves. It's kind of cool that we haven't changed the format too much but it's got some different rules (forced keepers, no bench...all players count and roto where hitting is 2/3rds and pitching 1/3). CBS has worked with us on all of it. It's like Fantrax capabilities with Yahoo's ease of use. Plus an email with stats every day.
