Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted August 15, 2017 Posted August 15, 2017 To Georgia Peach: RP Drew Steckenrider 4th 5th To Me: Zach Cozart Not happening.
BTS Community Moderator Posted August 15, 2017 Posted August 15, 2017 Not happening. GP won't use the picks. This is Cozart for a RP that was added off the waiver wire 8 days ago.
GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted August 15, 2017 Posted August 15, 2017 To Georgia Peach: RP Drew Steckenrider 4th 5th To Me: Zach Cozart Confirm 26yo Set Up guy in MIA and possible COF for 32 year old SS who's having a breakout year. Sept historically Cozart's worse month.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted August 15, 2017 Posted August 15, 2017 I think Cozart should go to mandatory auction right now.

Sept historically Cozart's worse month. Did you even shop him? I have a very hard time believing that the best you could do for a shortstop putting up a 150 wRC+ is a reliever that was on the waiver wire a week ago. He's in his age-31 season. It's not like he's 38.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted August 15, 2017 Posted August 15, 2017 I'm sorry, but at this point GP feeding jaysblue talent on the cheap is ruining the competitive balance of the league. I would say we're way past that point but I can see how this deal in particular can act as a last straw.
BTS Community Moderator Posted August 15, 2017 Posted August 15, 2017 I'm serious when I say I think the commish should veto. I've never asked for one before, but this is just the latest in a long line of moves between these two teams that are questionable. We need to put an end to it.

It's not like he's 38. He doesn't have to be 38. Once a guy is on the down swing of his career I'm off him. Kinda like how I wasn't on the Alonso train early in the year. How's he done the past few months.....below average for a 1B. I expect Cozart to regress.

This rhetoric about Gibbers hand feeding is kind of overblown if you ask me.

This isn't a single questionable transaction and I think there's some possibility of collusion here given the history. This deal is ridiculous.

Yep, easily the best farm to flood my team with young, high upside talent in the league, like I like. And it's collusion.

What past deals have lead you to that assumption?

They care that you traded him to your buddy for a reliever he picked up a week ago.
BTS Community Moderator Posted August 15, 2017 Posted August 15, 2017 Possibility of collusion given the history? What past deals have lead you to that assumption? Pretty much all of them. We've been talking about the trades between you two since year 1. Posey. Marte. Osuna. The list goes on.

Cozart's true offensive talent is much closer to his career line than his 2017 line. Much. And Steckenrider was a guy I've gotten beat to the punch on in multiple leagues. Maybe if you guys paid attention to the minors around the league a little more, you'd have an idea. Like I don't have to start pulling the joke offers I get for Correa out and posting them, do I?

Did you accept one? If not, it doesn't matter.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted August 15, 2017 Posted August 15, 2017 Go back and review those trades and tell me how they were completely lopsided. Wil Myers was broken and pretty s***** when you dealt him as the only substantial piece for Posey, who was a cornerstone of your team for years. Marte was a top 20-30 player that you essentially got for Jake Odorizzi, who is a pretty unexciting, middle to back of the rotation starter. Now, you're trading a reliever you just picked up off waivers for Cozart who is having an amazing year and you think that there's nothing wrong with this? The picks added on are almost like a troll since we already know GP won't use them and they will evaporate come draft time.
BTS Community Moderator Posted August 15, 2017 Posted August 15, 2017 Go back and review those trades and tell me how they were completely lopsided. Myers + Profar + Chacin for Posey + Hutchison (2014) Marte for Odorizzi + Heaney (2015) Osuna for Luke Weaver + a late first + a bunch of garbage Cozart for Stechenrider + garbage You've been feasting on him for years. And these are just the ones I remember.

But they included old and broken down Tulo (after the fact of everyone calling them out on the deal)!!
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted August 15, 2017 Posted August 15, 2017 Faaaaack... I'd love Cozart, right about meow!!!
BTS Community Moderator Posted August 15, 2017 Posted August 15, 2017 Faaaaack... I'd love Cozart, right about meow!!! Yeah, my team is awful and I would have definitely picked up a waiver wire reliever and traded him and a couple of worthless picks for Cozart.

He also got Profar (who at the time was still considered a top prospect and former No. 1 prospect in all of baseball). Marte was traded for Odorizzi (who looks like a pretty solid SP to me) and for Andrew Heaney (who was highly touted at the time and has actually pitched well when he was healthy). I even remember when I traded Shelby Miller to him for Starlin Castro a couple of years ago, you were even criticizing that deal FFS.

Weaver should be a decent SP in the NL and he did get my 1st/2nd/3rd round picks + my 1st and 2nd waiver draft picks next February. I gave up a lot in that deal & basically handcuffed myself.
