BTS Community Moderator Posted February 7, 2017 Posted February 7, 2017 Surprised that nobody is offering more than a 4th for Kendrick. Everyday LF in a hitters park, and has eligibility at 4 positions. You'd think somebody could use that on their bench, especially if their 2B or 3b is questionable.
BTS Community Moderator Posted February 7, 2017 Posted February 7, 2017 This is official now. At first I was excited about the possibility but then I realized that as a right-handed hitter, he won't really benefit from Yankee Stadium and he'll be on the short side of the platoon despite not really having a platoon split so it's kind of meh but at least it's MLB. I think I'd cut him if I owned him in a 20-team league. Hard to see the path to full playing time with Holliday and Bird also in the mix at 1B/DH. Pretty disappointed with this for my LoD team, but as you say, at least it's an MLB deal. It's crazy that a guy coming off a 41-hr season got just 3M. How times have changed.

We have yet to see how his shoulder will hold up. Holliday will get time in LF as well and they may yet trade Gardner.

Laika Community Moderator Posted February 7, 2017 Author Posted February 7, 2017 I guess that puts me in a weird spot as I've already made my cuts. Do I go back and get a player I cut, or just have 1 fewer player coming out of the waiver draft. Doesn't matter to me much, I'll accept the leagues decision. You can just keep one of your previous cuts. no big deal
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted February 7, 2017 Posted February 7, 2017 Hopefully you're right. I need that PRODUKSHUN. They probably wouldn't have signed him if they felt Bird's shoulder was 100% good to go. Bird hit .215 with a .138 ISO in the AFL. Obviously that's a small sample (17 games), but it's not exactly promising. His K/BB was great, though.

I saw Bird cheat to get to a couple of fastballs in the 2015 AFL. That's cheating, not skill. Fringe prospect for me.

I saw a 16.78% reduction in bat speed, according to a scout who watched him for one of his games. Now I have to wait for TCA to get really drunk so I can unload him for SOMETHING.
BTS Community Moderator Posted February 7, 2017 Posted February 7, 2017 I'm kind of despaired by the lack of 1B prospects. I'd like to acquire one, and I keep looking for someone I can flip a prospect of a different position for, but it's Cody Bellinger and Josh Bell, then a bunch of meh like Thaiss and Dom Smith.
havok24 Old-Timey Member Posted February 7, 2017 Posted February 7, 2017 Bour + Waiver 55 for Waiver 23 Yep

Why bother? AJ Reed's AA numbers were vastly superior to Bellinger's, and one year later we've all left him for dead.

Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted February 7, 2017 Posted February 7, 2017 Bellinger and Bell are also completely 'meh' and only seem sexy by default. I am so not in on Bell. Not in even one iota. If I'm going to buy on a 1B prospect, he needs to have big raw. Bobby Bradley is promising.

Bobby Bradley is promising. Bell hasn't demonstrated big pop. Maybe he's Brandon Belt in a good outcome? Bellinger hasn't demonstrated basic slashline skills that are required for 1B. Maybe in a few years of tinkering he's Chris Carter? I wouldn't buy any of them unless it's a guy like Tellez or Rhys Hoskins if you can get him for next to nothing in fantasy. The next great MLB 1B will probably be some random failed 3B or OF or C prospect. Some f*** like Zack Collins or, dare I say, Christin Stewart. I'd still take AJ Reed over any of the hot 1B prospects right now. I think.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted February 8, 2017 Posted February 8, 2017 Jake Bauers is still young enough to be a thing.

Laika Community Moderator Posted February 8, 2017 Author Posted February 8, 2017 Jake Bauers is still young enough to be a thing. I'm not seeing da numbas. .700 OPS doesn't excite Gallo? Sure why not? He is an unprojectable freak of nature.
Cyborg Verified Member Posted February 8, 2017 Posted February 8, 2017 I'm not seeing da numbas. .700 OPS doesn't excite .700 OPS projection in the MLB at the age of 21 is pretty good.
Laika Community Moderator Posted February 8, 2017 Author Posted February 8, 2017 .700 OPS projection in the MLB at the age of 21 is pretty good. Say it with me - Projections. Are. Useless. For. Prospects. Assuming everyone will be league average is probably a better system than whatever Steamer does.

Assuming everyone will be league average is probably a better system than whatever Steamer does. Then why did you quote the 700 OPS from Steamer? Also, no, projections are better than assuming league average.

Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted February 8, 2017 Posted February 8, 2017 I know there are a few teams looking for 1B recently. I might be shopping Albert Pujols for SP, hit me up.
