Am I the only one who thinks Marte for Bumgarner is reasonably fair? I think longevity should be a big factor, and Marte goes 20/30 almost every year and stole almost 50 bases last year with a very solid slash line.

He's most definitely a star player imo.

I think all three are fair and it mostly comes down to personal preference and team needs. Good trade.

jaysblue adding gravy to a trade? Not if I know him. In fact he'd probably try to ask for Bumgarner + gravy just because.

Gravy is good on everything

Gents, I don't know if this has been brought up before, but our very own Dominique Dunne was referenced on a Golden Globe and Emmy Award winning show....
Posted

The long and the short of it is this...

Dominique's father was a man by the name of Dominick, a fairly famous writer for Vanity Fair. His most famous piece of work was his coverage of the OJ Simpson trial, where he was in the court room every day, and was assigned to sit next to Ron Goldman's family by the presiding Judge. This was allegedly done intentionally, because Dominick was supposed to be able to show compassion and respect the privacy of the Goldman family as best as a media person could do, given how empathetic he could be since a similar senseless murder happened to his daughter a few years prior.

Now here's the best part, this ENTIRE f***ING THING is captured in a scene of Emmy and Golden Globe winning "The People vs. OJ Simpson: American Crime Story". They reference our little Dominique for a whole f***ing scene, with the entire point of the scene being to show the impact of her death on her father, who later became this big shot journalist for the most important murder trial in American history. Dominique is really big deal in a sense, and we had no f***ing clue.

Now, what is the implication of this... How did our very own Spanky come up with this name in a drunken stupor. Is he an American History wiz? Was he a big follower of the OJ Trial? It's hard to say really, but it is suspicious....

I'm not saying Spanky was actually the one who murdered Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman, but I'm not saying he didn't either.

Perfect time to buy cheap (although not from me). Those sad, antiquated projection systems don't even consider his elite exit velo.

I think Steamer does. Not 100% sure on that though.

3 of the shrewdest owners in this league have already inquired on him down low. I won't name names. I'll probably hold him just because I have so little invested in him and the payoff is substantial. He has very little trade value at the moment. I don't always talk guys up with the intention of trading them, sometimes I'm just a fan. He can marry a .200 ISO with elite BB% and ~40 SB. He's kinda like Chris Carter but trade some HR for SB and give him CF eligibility. I think his counting stats can look like peak Carlos Gomez.

Let's change the topic and talk about Top 50 prospect Francisco Mejia.

Best C prospect in the game.

But, how much are catching prospects even worth? Might be less bankable than arms.

Did you learn nothing from Gary Sanchez? C prospects that pan out are the Holy Grail. Most sites have Alfaro above Mejia, but I'm with you.

Yuck, how can anyone like Alfaro more? Seems objectively wrong

He has an incredible arm and plus power. His approach is... questionable. However, he has been an above average hitter at every level. Scouts also routinely say that his raw power is better than he's shown in games. Actually his profile is a lot like Sanchez before he broke out.

Alfaro AA line (167 games) - .273/.324/.449

Sanchez AA line (191 games) - .265/.335/.424

Catcher development is non-linear, as they say. You can't teach tools tho.

I can't believe the lack of love Min is getting for his post. Has DD jumped the shark?

I think it's more the fact that we don't want to admit that Spanky is most likely a murderer.

It honestly cracks me up how many people are saying his floor is 25 dingers, he could easily drop a sophomore turd.

Even so, catcher is a fantasy wasteland and as a dynasty asset, you'd probably want him over every catcher except Posey.

I don't think I'd 1 for 1 tbh, although it would require soul searching and maybe a 3 am walk.

You wouldn't trade Sanchez for Posey? Your dumn.

The projections do give me mega-wood, in fairness.

TCA let's make a trade, you're probably bored of Bumgarner by now.

Velocity loss, oooOoooOooOooh!

I know he's not technically a rookie but I feel like a league-average projection is more accurate than what Steamer/ZiPS are spitting out right now.

http://www.beyondtheboxscore.com/2017/1/8/14189138/pecota-zips-steamer-marcel-projection-systems-graded

Cool lessons from this link:

- ZiPS is absolute trash

- Expecting league average hitting from rookies is a better "projection system" than any actual projection system for rookies

- Marcel is awesome; publicly available projection systems generally are just busy work

I was expecting some stronger feedback. This is mostly likely the case.

Spanky as the actual perpetrator of the most famous "unsolved" murder in US history would be a fantastic plot development. Would we be obligated to give his team to the Goldman family in some sort of civil settlement? Only time will tell.

Spanky is an American race-relations scholar, self taught
