I wonder if I can tank for two more years (and keep winning lotteries), 2018 has the next Kris Bryant. Seth Beer (who admittedly belongs on a Barney team), instead of entering this draft (and probably going mid first) graduated high school early and entered College early in January. Just watched the Georgia game from Tuesday to see how he extended his hitting streak to 25 games. They walked him intentionally, then beaned him twice...last at bat they had to throw to him and he crushed it 480 feet for the game tying HR. He got 2 more hits yesterday to extend to 26 games. Playing my dukies all weekend. This guy is a legend in the making

The downside with tanking is that it really makes you lose interest in your team (other than the draft). If you do something like this, you'll likely be seriously tempted to flat out quit before you reach 2018 and when you finally do make it to 2018, you're hardly be out of the woods.

Better strategy would be try to win, but then make an aggressive trade for the #1 in Beer's draft year if you want him that bad. Like Springer for #1 + a player (or whatever).

I was thinking, Tanaka would be a nice co-number2 to pair with Carlos Martinez to slot inbehind Strasburg. And that Barreto would shoot up the prospect rankings with a healthy year, and would theoretically replace Mazara. I think that was my reasoning when I was in my inebriated state.
