Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted March 3, 2016 Posted March 3, 2016 I'm just excited to see his Chopper when it's all finished. I bet it'll have rocket launchers on it. He'll be able to parachute out of it and land on the field! So it's okay for Will Ferrell but not ok for Poo-eeg. Racism at its finest.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted March 3, 2016 Posted March 3, 2016 So it's okay for Will Ferrell but not ok for Poo-eeg. Racism at its finest. I saw no implication that TCA thinks it's not OK, my little SJW buddy

Laika Community Moderator Posted March 3, 2016 Author Posted March 3, 2016 I don't really agree with that. He has a career .374 wOBA over 1300 PAs thru age 25. You would gladly take that from any hitting prospect if you could. Last year was a disaster according to most people, and he was still an above average hitter who put up 1.5 WAR in half a season. The level of hatred for him is disproportionate to his talent. You state facts, but even with the lovely wOBAs he was a guy that couldn't find it in himself to yank 20 over the fence, and he's probably done stealing double digit bases. There's some inherent risk in the basic statistical profile in a fantasy sense. No idea what type of player he will be production wise. All we really know is that he has a special hitting ability and obviously some raw juice - which is all that can be said about a lot of top hitting prospects, like his teammate C.Seags.

This was my biggest hangup on how to value my offer. Never did reconcile it before the deal was done.
BTS Community Moderator Posted March 3, 2016 Posted March 3, 2016 The most interesting thing about Puig is that some people (JFaS) are comfortable saying that he outright suxxxxx. Everyone knows about the red flags, but there's enough there in his performance and obvious raw talent that I have a hard time believing that there are numbers so damning that someone can authoritatively state that he's not a good player.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted March 3, 2016 Posted March 3, 2016 yeah I can't see any world where the guy sucks. There is an argument he won't be a great player, but that's about it.

Maybe he got in a bar fight with Puig before and is just holding a grudge.

I'm not so worried about his HR power in a league like this where he contributes extensively in OBP/SLG/H. I do think he'll top 20 HR several times in his career, personally.

If someone wants to say he's not the star he appears to be thus far, I can kinda buy that, but he objectively does not suck.

JFaS rarely ever seems to think in anything but black and white, I've noticed. While I value his knowledge, he's too stubborn about things and comes to conclusions too quickly for my liking.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted March 3, 2016 Posted March 3, 2016 Goodbye Brett Anderson, hello Mike Bolsinger.
tafkasg Verified Member Posted March 3, 2016 Posted March 3, 2016 What's the market for RP like? I'd love to combine a "lottery ticket" SP or "s***" "bag" like Kelly/Folty/Gallardo with milb 10 or 19 for someone good.

Koji got moved for a pick in the 30s, I think. You could get a good closer for MiLB 10 if someone was selling.

The suxxxx is relative to expectations, obviously.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted March 3, 2016 Posted March 3, 2016 Andrew Miller is available for a good return. Preferably a hitter or upgrade on one of my hitters. or Jason Grilli if you feel like gambling.

The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted March 3, 2016 Posted March 3, 2016 Well I for one am sold. And since Pillar would make a good leadoff hitter too maybe he should bat 2nd. It's like 2 leadoff hitters. We'd be unstoppable!
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted March 3, 2016 Posted March 3, 2016 I stopped when he was put in the same sentence has Trout. Also i hope Gibby doesn't know what a Reddit is
