Cyborg Verified Member Posted September 21, 2015 Posted September 21, 2015 Why protect Sabathia? His ERA is about 5 over his last 400 innings, plus he's super old and fat. Like fatter than ever. If I squint at his numbers, his xFIP is decent, but his ERA and FIP aren't going to catch up while he's playing in Yankee Stadium. Because BTS' team obviously suxxxx.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted September 21, 2015 Posted September 21, 2015 Peralta has a breakout profile (young + velo + moderate success in past). I think I took him in the startup draft. He might be good again if Lucroy is healthy next year. Jonathan Lucroy framing runs, 2012-2015: +26 +32 +17 +2 (hamstring strain, then pinkeye, then broken toe, then concussion) Career 3.95 ERA/3.98 xFIP, 52.6% GB, 95.1 MPH. He doesn't really walk a ton of guys either, so I think there's something there. He's homer prone but that goes with the territory in Milwaukee. He'd probably be a stud if he got traded to Pittsburgh. He lost some velo this year, so that's a bit concerning, but I think it's within a fairly normal year-to-year variance. All in all, I'm very surprised no rebuilding team bothered to throw a waiver claim on him... probably weren't paying much attention.

Laika Community Moderator Posted September 21, 2015 Author Posted September 21, 2015 Pretty happy to leave this waiver period with Jaso and Sabathia. Both will very likely be on my protected list. I think you need less players like Jaso. You seem to get weirdly attached/attracted to platoony dudes. It's not good for you. Scott Van Slyke Syndrome?
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted September 21, 2015 Posted September 21, 2015 I would cut Jaso for being white and having dreadlocks. Unacceptable.

I think there are enough signs of life to warrant gambling on him as a 7th starter. And everyone seems kind of excited about his new knee brace. My current in house options are/were Fister, Buehrle, and Locke. If he can pitch to Steamer's projection, he'll be a useful SP7.

GD Old-Timey Member Posted September 21, 2015 Posted September 21, 2015 a team with Trout, Harper, Rizzo, Freeman, Stanton, Arrieta, Carrasco, Greinke, and Hamels. I'm sorry how exactly did this happen
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted September 21, 2015 Posted September 21, 2015 Wow, Wily Peralta made it through waivers? I'm a bit surprised. I put a claim on him but I prioritized Holland. Wily Peralta really isn't much better than guys you stream for wins on Sunday. Is he actually going to make it through your cut down?

Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted September 21, 2015 Posted September 21, 2015 I don't own Wily Peralta, so he definitely isn't making my cuts.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 Man, Votto is in phenomenal shape these days. Was he always so jacked?

Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 Braun sitting out again today... and will need offseason surgery on his... back? That's a new one. Looks like I'll have to fight for this championship without my 25/25 stud.

GD Old-Timey Member Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 Boxy. Hear me when I say this. f***. Greg. Bird. I've said this about 30 times now
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 I wish Greg Bird wasn't such a goddamn stud for just these three games.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 BTS, I'm going to go ahead and rename Francellis Montas to Frankie Montas in the Google Doc, I nearly just made a super illegal add.
BTS Community Moderator Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 BTS, I'm going to go ahead and rename Francellis Montas to Frankie Montas in the Google Doc, I nearly just made a super illegal add. Sure. That would have been horrible if nobody caught it.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 I'm sure someone (probably North) would have noticed, probably several people. The shame would have been tremendous.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 Boxy, Mikie Mahtook is rocking a 159 wRC+ after today's home run... the next Pollock?
BTS Community Moderator Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 Boxy, Mikie Mahtook is rocking a 159 wRC+ after today's home run... the next Pollock? Too small a sample to warrant keeping him, especially after he sucked in AAA.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 It's pretty much the exact same line he put up in AAA last year though. Intriguing power-speed combo.
