Why is that hard to believe? It happens to relievers all the time.

Very true. I guess because he's not super old? But yeah, good chance he doesn't make the cut.

I had claims on Castillo, Karns, and Holland. Thought about Elias, but I don't actually want to roster him and would have spent all offseason annoying you guys trying to trade him.

I had my first claim on Karns, was hoping to grab him.

I'm assuming he has a partially torn UCL.

Only guy I wanted was Fister.

Really? I loved the guy, but there's nothing there to make me think he was rosterable past the cut.

Karns > Wily > Fister for me.

Fister will be lucky to get a starting job next year.

Oh probably. Still, that must have been a hard one to let go. I would have been super pissed if I jettisoned Karns and Hamilton and didn't make it to the finals.

0% chance Hamilton doesn't get claimed.

I don't doubt that he will, but I don't think he should be. Absorbing a sub-0.300 OBP and possible sub 0.300 SLG isn't worth the 55 steals.

Not really. The velocity drop has been so precipitous that he's probably a value-less non closer in the offseason anyway, and would have been a cut for me.

It was annoying that he so quickly went from elite to terrible, though. Also annoying that he blew a save that week when one Save/Hold/Win/Hit = me in finals. Also, Papelbon blew a save and Rondon got ejected in a save opp. fml

TBH I'm surprised that you want to saddle yourself with Holland while in the finals.

Fister will sign with which ever team that'll give him a starting job. Can't see him going to a team that'll throw him in the bullpen. He doesn't strike a ton of guys out, but he's had a K/BB ratio of over 3.5 for 4 straight years before this season.

It's more like 70 steals per 600 PA. Steals are very scarce in the current market. Even if you only play him twice a week, you can reap big dividends. If you play him every day, yes he will destroy you in two categories.

I wouldn't say I'm saddling myself, it's really just a wait and see. If I need to cut someone come Friday, he's a goner. If I'm blowing out Silvergun, then I'll keep him going into the offseason.

It is annoying to lose an elite closer, for example to injury, or in a dumbass trade for Aramis Ramirez.

He looked broken this year. Struggling to sit 85. The sinking fastball that hitters used to pound into the ground wasn't getting outs anymore. I think he's finished.

Yeah, but he couldn't cut it in an extremely pitcher-friendly park in the NL, so there's not really anywhere for him to turn. His FB velo has dropped from 89 MPH in his salad days to a Buehrle-esque 86 MPH this year. End of the line, methinks.

What a fantastic, ridiculously entertaining set of semis those were, holy s***.

I feel fortunate to advance; tough break NJH, much respek to you and your Stallions.

I'm glad we get to face off after trading off at the top spot in the standings and PRs all year. I put you at #1 in my personal PRs to start the year, so if I win this week I'll feel like I had to beat the best to do it. Bad luck! Please lose.

You missed the September Waiver Draft!

Yeah seems like some good players moved. I only checked the waiver wire once during my whole trip and all I got out of it was Wada.

Pretty happy to leave this waiver period with Jaso and Sabathia. Both will very likely be on my protected list.

Wow, Wily Peralta made it through waivers? I'm a bit surprised. I put a claim on him but I prioritized Holland.

Peralta has a breakout profile (young + velo + moderate success in past). I think I took him in the startup draft. He might be good again if Lucroy is healthy next year.

Jonathan Lucroy framing runs, 2012-2015:

+26

+32

+17

+2 (hamstring strain, then pinkeye, then broken toe, then concussion)

Why protect Sabathia? His ERA is about 5 over his last 400 innings, plus he's super old and fat. Like fatter than ever. If I squint at his numbers, his xFIP is decent, but his ERA and FIP aren't going to catch up while he's playing in Yankee Stadium.
