jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2015 Posted July 21, 2015 I took the wRC+ part out of my post because it seems that Fangraphs calendar year split wRC+ is messed up. Mark Trumbo was always a flawed player and it's catching up to him. If you believe there's still a productive hitter in there, you may as well keep Trumbo since there's no buy-low hype surrounding him. I've never been a fan of Mark Trumbo.
TRM Verified Member Posted July 21, 2015 Posted July 21, 2015 Looking to trade for Zach Lee. If you have him please message me.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2015 Posted July 21, 2015 Wow, Trumbo's line is virtually identical to last year. He'll probably be out of baseball in a year or two.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2015 Posted July 21, 2015 Is there anything suggesting that hitters of his type fall off early? I think his body is just breaking down. He's a huge guy, and has dealt with stress fractures in his feet, and his power has fallen off a cliff since he was diagnosed last year. He was a flawed player to begin with like North said. Career .296 OBP is awful.

A corner OF/1B who will be 30 next season and struggles to keep an OBP above .300 and whose breaking down physically. Likely will catch a couple of minor league deals over the next couple of years though I predict an early retirement like you said.

It would be one thing if he was still hitting 30 HR, but he's not even a league average hitter at this point. Very few teams are going to look at him and see any avenue for added value. Maybe the Phillies.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2015 Posted July 21, 2015 The weird thing to me is that he doesn't even strike out that much.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2015 Posted July 21, 2015 The weird thing to me is that he doesn't even strike out that much. Yeah for the type of hitter he is, he doesn't strikeout that much anymore like he did earlier in his career. His BB% has always been downright awful though. I'm sure he'll latch on with a team like the Phillies or Marlins. The Orioles also like taking fliers on guys with huge power potential.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2015 Posted July 21, 2015 as if my season has not been a cluster-f*** already, Yordano optioned to the minors.... wtf KC
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2015 Posted July 21, 2015 Looking to trade for Zach Lee. If you have him please message me. No. He's more untouchable than Bryant
TRM Verified Member Posted July 21, 2015 Posted July 21, 2015 No. He's more untouchable than Bryant I'm not kidding. I need my lord and savior for his MLB debut.

BTS Community Moderator Posted July 21, 2015 Posted July 21, 2015 lmao at KC. Ventura is their best starter.
Laika Community Moderator Posted July 21, 2015 Author Posted July 21, 2015 Edinson Volquez Chris Young Jeremy Guthrie Jason Vargas Danny Duffy worst rotation ever for a 1st place team?
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2015 Posted July 21, 2015 Gotta be. And their lineup isn't even all that impressive. I don't know how they're doing it.
Laika Community Moderator Posted July 21, 2015 Author Posted July 21, 2015 Gotta be. And their lineup isn't even all that impressive. I don't know how they're doing it. 5th best offense in baseball and the 3rd best defense. Also, the #1 or #2 bullpen in baseball makes the overall pitching about average.
Laika Community Moderator Posted July 22, 2015 Author Posted July 22, 2015 And the entire league huddles round MLB.com with bated breath as Raisel Iglesias enters the fifth inning. 5 K's, 1 BB, and no runs through four - but will the velocity hold a 3rd time though the order, or is he just a ~60 pitch dude?

Trade him to the Rays
Laika Community Moderator Posted July 22, 2015 Author Posted July 22, 2015 Trade him to the Rays Raisel + Erasmo would be good for 8-10 Ace level innings every 5th day!
Laika Community Moderator Posted July 22, 2015 Author Posted July 22, 2015 Raisel gives up an RBI double to Schwarber but then goes 92-93-93-slider to K Bryant swinging. Then starts Rizzo with a CH (whiff), gets him to foul off an 88mph sinker, and then finishes him off by baiting him into lining out with another 93mph four seamer. Velocity seems fine at 88 pitches? hmmm
TRM Verified Member Posted July 22, 2015 Posted July 22, 2015 Who cares about Raisel while Joe Ross is pitching...
Laika Community Moderator Posted July 22, 2015 Author Posted July 22, 2015 Who cares about Raisel while Joe Ross is pitching... Oh, you called him up after all?
TRM Verified Member Posted July 22, 2015 Posted July 22, 2015 Oh, you called him up after all? I don't even know anymore.
Laika Community Moderator Posted July 22, 2015 Author Posted July 22, 2015 I don't even know anymore. I'm just not sure how much you really even like him. You keep talking about him like you think he's the bees knees, but then you keep him on your farm like he's some putz you don't value.
TRM Verified Member Posted July 22, 2015 Posted July 22, 2015 Can someone give me a rough ranking of catchers in a dynasty league? I'm having a debate with someone in another league and I want to make sure I'm not way off base.

I love him, however every fibre of my being is rejecting the idea of a starter younger than 25. It's only a matter of time until I trade him for Hisashi Iwakuma or something.
