Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 Nola over Schwarber seems dubious to me.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 I'm a little surprised to see Holmes where he is an no Newcomb. They seem to be very similar pitchers. Now that you mention it I am a bit surprised Newcomb didn't make the cut. There are concerns about his control but he's carried a K/9 around 11 for a full calendar year now and should be a quick mover.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 lmao @ Appel 35th I seriously don't get it. His results have never matched his name value, this year especially. I would still take Dylan Bundy over him, injury and all.

I would still take Dylan Bundy over him, injury and all. And it's not like he has raw stuff that's incredibly impressive either. At least to my untrained eye.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 And it's not like he has raw stuff that's incredibly impressive either. At least to my untrained eye. Maybe I'm being reductive, but he just seems like a really hittable guy with at best average command and no devastating outpitch, judging by his underwhelming K rates. He's not even young with remaining projection, so yeah, I just don't see it. I'm not saying he's nothing, I just don't see him ever being an impact guy.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 It's also worth noting that this isn't a great fantasy list for prospects, as BP is quite high on SS prospects who can stick defensively, regardless of their bat. Mondesi Anderson Arcia Adames Robertson Albies Turner Barreto Gordon Torres A lot of these guys lack significant fantasy ceiling.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 People like to knock Lindor's fantasy ceiling, but I'd take him over any of those guys.
BTS Community Moderator Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 People like to knock Lindor's fantasy ceiling, but I'd take him over any of those guys. Lindor suxxxx (as a fantasy asset)
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 Lindor suxxxx (as a fantasy asset) I think he can get to a .330 OBP with 80 runs and 20+ steals, maybe more in peak years. It's not a zero in this format. Let's also not lose sight of the fact that H are a category in this league, one that he should excel at. I think he can be Alcides with a better OBP.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 Also, Orlando Arcia is going to be a star. If you mean in fantasy, then I vehemently disagree.

I think Turner has a much better shot of doing that than Lindor.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 Ugh, I feel seriously disgusting trading a borderline keeper for the Aramis Ramirez Farewell Tour.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 Ugh, I feel seriously disgusting trading a borderline keeper for the Aramis Ramirez Farewell Tour. Why did you do it? Aramis has checked out already.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 Because Hector Rondon doesn't get saves anymore and isn't a borderline keeper? This is a no-risk pick-up. Thanks for setting me straight buddy
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 Aramis has hit well for a month or so, I just need to get some produkshun while Miggy is on the DL being fat. Rendon is still getting some saves, Joe Maddon is just trolling fantasy owners.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 No problem. It can be easy to get lost in Dinger's rhetoric. He wants to make it seem like this was a tough decision for him, since he spent so much time branding Hector Rondon as an impact fantasy reliever. It wasn't. Actually it was a tough decision! I nearly rejected it several times in favour of just rolling with Danny Valencia. Ultimately I think I can get more utility out of Aramis, but it wasn't a slam dunk decision by any means. I was a rhetoric major, though.
Laika Community Moderator Posted July 6, 2015 Author Posted July 6, 2015 Ugh, I feel seriously disgusting trading a borderline keeper for the Aramis Ramirez Farewell Tour. Why would you ever care about trading a borderline keeper in a compete year? Just re-draw your borders in the offseason. You had no starting 3B, an excess RP, and Motte has gotten the last couple of saves in Chicago. I thought it was a no-brainer for you. I probably won't even keep Rondon. He's just (likely) going to be slightly better than Shreve or Geltz going forward.
BTS Community Moderator Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 Rondon pitched the 7th innings the other day. Maddon does not care much for traditional bullpen roles.
Laika Community Moderator Posted July 6, 2015 Author Posted July 6, 2015 Rondon pitched the 7th innings the other day. Maddon does not care much for traditional bullpen roles. Might be from up top. Three years of control left on Rondon so if they let him get saves it just means bigger arb numbers for him.
Laika Community Moderator Posted July 6, 2015 Author Posted July 6, 2015 Butt Stallion fingerprints all over the BP top 50 3 - Urias (traded) 9 - Norris (traded) 12 - Mondesi 14 - Margot (traded) 17 - Glasnow 21 - Williams 24 - Harvey 25 - Pompey (traded) 27 - Tapia (traded) 36 - Adames 44 - Snell (almost acquired) 6 - Mazara (destined to own) Not a huge fan of the list though, despite the fact that it likes my process.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 We all had Glasnow at one point, bruh.
Laika Community Moderator Posted July 6, 2015 Author Posted July 6, 2015 At 6'8", he might be the tallest bike in the world.
Laika Community Moderator Posted July 6, 2015 Author Posted July 6, 2015 Aaron Nola at #7, ahead of Schwarber, is f***ing terrible. That's more egregious than ranking Appel IMO. Nola wouldn't have made my personal top 50, I don't think. He doesn't have a great K rate and his mechanics are possibly the worst SP prospect mechanics in existence right now.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 his control is amazing but his arm action is ewwwwww

BTS Community Moderator Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 Glasnow has returned some elite talent in this league. Traded straight up for Ortiz and Lester. Anyone else?

Well I kinda wish I didn't trade Nola now..
