The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 Is MLB.TV worth it guys? I've been watching games through free web links, I find the video quality is a little subpar and at times it freezes. Does the yearly subscription include the playoffs? I see the have it on for 49.99 now and they include R.B.I 2015.
Laika Community Moderator Posted June 17, 2015 Author Posted June 17, 2015 That's weird, I didn't even notice that Almonte got cut. I guess his peripherals suck this year.

Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 2016 picks are now tradeable, though apparently they always were since JF traded one already.
BTS Community Moderator Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 Man, Justin Turner has been so good.

NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 You guys went from Bogaerts Bros to being his #1 haterz. I like it haha Rangers should have put Tolleson in the start the inning.

Almost immediately after we traded for Turner he got full time 3B, and he's been great. No reason not to gloat, imo. Bogaerts can suck eggs.

KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 Well this "looks" cool but from what I can tell it's just a rail shooter and those are boring (Rebel Assault also "looked" cool back in the day). This might just be a modern version of the same.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 Albert Pujols is the quintessential Oso Blanco. Indeed.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 I just assumed that the Orioles decision to demote Wei-Yin Chen (temporarily) to Hi-A in order to prevent him from facing the Jays (who, obviously, crush LHP) was considered and discussed by all parties. Apparently, not so: Agent Scott Boras calls decision 2 demote Chen: "Grossly irregular. I’ve never seen anything like this ... in my 30 years of doing this” http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/mlb-big-league-stew/wei-yin-chen-is-not-happy-about-his-demotion-and-he-may-have-a-point-005152575.html Even more oddly, Chen is a FA after the season, so the Orioles have nothing to gain by sheltering his ERA.

They took advantage of his options to tuck him in the minors and use his roster spot while they skipped his start. The fatigue excuse is just a smoke screen. I would like the move just fine with a lesser pitcher but this seems like needlessly babying and insulting an assett. They further muddied the waters by using a ******** fatigue excuse. Seems like the Orioles tried to be a bit too smart here and didn't think this through unless they see upside in annoying an upcoming q.o. candidate.

It's a foregone conclusion that Chen will walk, I think. With Boras as his client, he should be able to get a nice 3 or 4 year deal with an NL team. If I'm the Orioles, I'm running him into the ground and getting every last inning out of him.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 The big question is why would you even bother to talk about fatigue? What they are doing is not against the rules or hurting anyone financially. This should have been just discussed ahead of time. Right after your start we are sending you down to the minors. We will recall you in 10 days for the last game of the series against the Red Sox instead of the first one. Which also means that he misses the Indians, another good team against lefties. It's a good decision but somehow the O's turn it into something slimy.

I mean I understand the rationale but this is a 29 year old guy who gave you 185 IP last year so durability shouldn't really be an issue. Like Dinger said, why not ring every inning out of him? His career splits aren't that extreme either. He's not a lock to get destroyed or anything. This might be a simple case of over-managing.

If they're serious about trying to make the playoffs, I think this move is idiotic.

Yeah it seems clever on the surface but there's a certain talent level that you probably shouldn't f*** with because it's just not in the interest of the team. When it comes to baseball culture, you have to pick your battles and this one probably isn't worth having especially for a franchise that already has a pretty lousy reputation amongst players and agents.
