Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 Trust your evaluations.... unless you're Boxy. Then defer. Fight me I knew you probably wouldn't like it because Blackburn has limited upside because of a lack of walks and Bird doesn't run fast
Laika Community Moderator Posted February 7, 2015 Author Posted February 7, 2015 Fight me You've said it yourself. Maybe you need a tattoo as a reminder. How about "I'm Dumn"
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 Fight me I knew you probably wouldn't like it because Blackburn has limited upside because of a lack of walks and Bird doesn't run fast Meh, everybody hated my trade the day before. f*** em.
Laika Community Moderator Posted February 7, 2015 Author Posted February 7, 2015 Meh, everybody hated my trade the day before. f*** em. plz stop publicly defending your trape victim
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 I gotta say, if I'd done this trade a few days ago, I probably would have kept Moss. Oh well.
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 I hate this trade for Boxy. Rodon is the kind of prospect who should be packaged with something else to land an MLB stud. There's only so many prospects that have that value. Boxy usually hates all my trades though so obviously our strategies are different.
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 Can we add more Tyrone Taylors to the spreadsheet please?

Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 A stud like Kershaw? I almost want to do it just to spite Boxy!
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 I like Dingers side as well. That being said, Boxy really needs position player prospects (which is why I didn't understand trading Castillo). He does have some nice pitching coming up. I think he could have got more for Rodon.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 I almost want to do it just to spite Boxy! Kinda hoping I just traded a future Teheran for a future Rizzo and future Jaime Garcia.
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 Selling MLB.com's #64 prospect Reese "Austin Hedges Who?" McGuire.

I traded Castillo because I have good OF depth and he's probably going to suck.

z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 I traded Castillo because I have good OF depth and he's probably going to suck. I really hope not for my LOD team lol. Yeah, of any position, your OF depth is the best for sure.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 I really hope not for my LOD team lol. Yeah, of any position, your OF depth is the best for sure. Whether I could have gotten "more" for Rodon is really so subjective. There's no hard line value for prospects. Does anyone think that Lindor will be more fantasy relevant than the 70 ish guys behind him? It's not like Rodon is a proven commodity, plus heavy reliance on the slider makes me iffy on his health. At the end of the day, I got who I wanted. I'd prefer this package to adding something for a Russell or Seager.
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 There's no hard line value for prospects. Agreed. All of our personal evaluations are completely subjective. However, there is a general public consensus that we'll see from multiple Top 100 lists. Averaging out these lists (from reputable sites) should be the benchmark for prospect value. These guys may not be the "experts" they claim to be, but they do know more than any of us. You could be right, and both Bird and Blackburn could eventually be worth more than Rodon. That doesn't mean you didn't overpay for them at their current value though.

Laika Community Moderator Posted February 7, 2015 Author Posted February 7, 2015 Rodon is flaky. He could be Brett Anderson and nothing more. Just don't like the return in a league where you can trade Archie Bradley + for Kershaw if you try hard enough

Just don't like the return in a league where you can trade Archie Bradley + for Kershaw if you try hard enough You can't do that now that he is with a loving owner This league had an interesting dynamic early when teams decided to move into rebuild mode. Trades are different now that the rebuilding teams have less established assets that they want to move. It will be interesting moving forward.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 If you believe in Greg Bird than you fully expect him to climb up the prospects lists within a year anyways so why hold back or try to acquire someone else just because what you're convinced will happen anyways just hasn't happened at this time? Just f***in' go with it. Who's to say that a year from Rodon and Bird won't be valued pretty much exactly the same at which point Boxy's trade won't even be available to him.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 Trust your evaluations.... unless you're Boxy. Then defer. It's okay, Bird was his girlfriend's recommendation.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 Does anyone think that Lindor will be more fantasy relevant than the 70 ish guys behind him? yes, yes he will. He'll be in the lineup every day
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 yes, yes he will. He'll be in the lineup every day Because Alcides Escobar is so valuable, right?
TheHurl Site Manager Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 I'm just pointing out that, at least in my opinion, Bird is getting slept on because he doesn't rank super high in Top 100 lists, mostly because he's a 1B. The dude walked at 15% in his first taste at AA and mashed a 450 ft home run this fall. Nobody paid much attention to Paul Goldschmidt until he kept mashing in the majors, but as we've seen with Freeman and Rizzo, there's definitely such a thing as a good 1B prospect. You know that I inquired about Bird and really like him (you just don't work into my 5 months of negotiations guidelines). But there still is the fact that he's going to be really really bad against lefties. Like Lind at his worst bad. I wish I was active enough to look at pitching matchups as I think Bird against righties only would be a huge asset in fantasy. No matter what if he's as good as I think he'll be against RHP his overall numbers will also give him solid value.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 Only worth it in 5x5. He'll probably be borderline unplayable in any of the other setups we have. Are you talking about in the next 2 years or when he's 26? He'll be an average SS bat at worst IMO. With an opportunity to BABIP his way to a .350ish OBP. Rising K-Rates as he's moving up concern me a little. I don't think he'll ever be a top 3 SS. But take Jean Segura...he jumped out to legit fantasy value (I was just too f***ing stubborn to sell high) by just putting the ball in play and hitting some line drives. Lindor isn't flashy but the bat isn't a finished product yet either. Even if he's Escobar with two to three times the walks...is that a horrible asset? As someone that's never owned a legit fantasy SS in dynasty, I'd take Lindor coming through my system. I'm just going to only offer Boxy's perceived value for him.
