Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted June 27, 2014 Posted June 27, 2014 I don't believe in Keuchel or McHugh, I like Kluber though.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted June 27, 2014 Posted June 27, 2014 I'm on my phone. Can someone please quote jaysblue and post a picture of a baby crying? Thx Sorry, I'm usually on that s*** but I was at work.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted June 27, 2014 Posted June 27, 2014 I don't buy McHugh being this good either but in my rotation I just need SOLDIERS, http://i.imgur.com/j1qIEpf.jpg (f***ing TV thread hooked me in for another watch-through.) Ugly ass ****, f*** you
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted June 28, 2014 Posted June 28, 2014 I don't believe in Keuchel or McHugh, I like Kluber though. Kluber is an elite starter.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted June 28, 2014 Posted June 28, 2014 Man, Nelson Cruz's owner must have been happy with his HR today. Oh... (man, I'm kind of a terrible person.) And Tillman with a solid start. I don't think we need commissioners to process deals involving players on Yahoo. Once a deal is accepted, it goes through. In the FC league, that system has been working and fine. I think we have a strong group of guys in this league, that we shouldn't worry about anyone making boneheaded lopsided moves to tank their team.

Reviews are not necessary when you have good team ownership. We gots that.
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted June 28, 2014 Posted June 28, 2014 So this Grilli/Frieri swap basically just gave me two closers with one trade. Melancon and Smith should both get the 9th inning for the ROS now.

Laika Community Moderator Posted June 28, 2014 Author Posted June 28, 2014 Pretty sure you can have it instant though. I accidentally had it that way before. Where is the option? I need to know so that I can consciously never, ever select it, just to bug jaysblue.
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted June 28, 2014 Posted June 28, 2014 Where is the option? I need to know so that I can consciously never, ever select it, just to bug jaysblue. You set the trade review period ("Time managers have to protest pending trades:") to "No Protests." Then it will process trades immediately. I usually make it this way in leagues I Commish, like DDML.

When do prospects need to be called up by? Is it just the MiLB draft every year? And what is the Feb Prospect Cutdown, don't remember having a prospect cutdown until the draft.
BTS Community Moderator Posted June 29, 2014 Posted June 29, 2014 Well, I beat Gibbers. I was pretty nervous down 13-1 on Friday.
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted June 29, 2014 Posted June 29, 2014 Doesn't the rental concept in the latest trade open a whole can of worms? Hypothetically, if I said to havok, "I'll give you my first round pick to let me use Heyward + Cole for the last month of the season". Not only would he profit from giving them away for a month, but it would even help his team finish lower in the standings. What's to stop every non-playoff team from doing the same if they're going to miss the playoffs anyway? Just something to think about that could lead to issues later.

Especially in a league like this, where we've had the same 20 guys for two years and people trust each other, this could set a precedent that we probably don't want set. There currently isn't a rule against this, and obliviously the trade should stand, but this might have to be addressed.
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted June 29, 2014 Posted June 29, 2014 So I'm allowed to put all my players on the block for rentals? I dont understand why this is allowed at all

Managers would be able to fill their holes with ease, without losing significant pieces. Imagine jaysblue falls out of the race, and someone scores Tulo for a fraction of the cost because it's just a rental? That's an impact player who could potentially be the difference between advancing in the playoffs, and being knocked out. You would also rarely see older players get moved to contenders anymore. Who's going to trade for an aging bat who's verging on retirement, when you can rent out a stud in his prime for less?
GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 29, 2014 Posted June 29, 2014 Just throwing it out there, the NBA has a no reacquiring rule that could probably help with rentals.
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted June 29, 2014 Posted June 29, 2014 So I'm allowed to put all my players on the block for rentals? I dont understand why this is allowed at all In theory, a 10-12 seed could just rent an entire team right now and become a top juggernaut. It shouldn't be allowed.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 29, 2014 Posted June 29, 2014 NBA: "A team can not reacquire a player they traded away during that season." So maybe make it a no reacquiring for a calendar year. I dunno.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted June 29, 2014 Posted June 29, 2014 Ya, this seems like it's a bad idea. Renting players should not be allowed.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted June 29, 2014 Posted June 29, 2014 I blame Silvergun. I don't want to stir s*** and I get the precedent this sets, so if you guys want to reverse it that's OK with me.
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 In theory, a 10-12 seed could just rent an entire team right now and become a top juggernaut. It shouldn't be allowed. Every 13th-20th seed wouldnt hold onto any decent players at all. I'd just keep trading every decent vet I had for a 1 round upgrade
GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 As a BBDL scum, if this was decided to be legal and ethical, yeah, I would totally do this. I expected to be a lot better this year, so renting a guy and getting him back while getting assets to re-tool with could not fit my plan better.
SpeedyGose Verified Member Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 Dammit Sammy, Marlon Byrd stealing HRs on Sunday!

Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 Thanks man, those bus tires feel great on the spine. I got the idea from someone mentioning Posey as a rental earlier, if it's going to upset a bunch of people go ahead and reverse it. e: I'd be fine with implementing this, but it probably wouldn't have even sunk our deal tbh. Lol I said that in jest! I think you should still have to give me Francisco and the pick to teach you a lesson, you scoundrel.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 The thing about a trade like this is it's entirely unenforceable. So if you rent out your stud for a 1st round pick, and the renter reneges on sending him back to you, I say tough s***.

Honestly, I don't see anyone in this league doing that unless there was a GM change, in which case the new guy would wouldn't honour the deal.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 If anything our deal should stand and I'll just say good day sir. Sorry Boxy, lie down with dogs and you get up with fleas, Judge Judy life lessons flyin' atcha son. Ok I'm sorry. You are the best and I am the worst.
Laika Community Moderator Posted June 30, 2014 Author Posted June 30, 2014 I have been on phone at cottage so didn't notice the deal specifics. I agree that rental players is a bad idea, and I feel like we've actually already been over this topic once?
