KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 Many different ways to skin a cat. I am very pleased my first pick is only #17 because I'm not at all prepared for this draft.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 Someone took Jose Veras over Eddie Butler? Wow.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 Someone took Jose Veras over Eddie Butler? Wow. I would have traded him a better RP then Veras for the #3 pick. I kinda also wanted Butler.
TRM Verified Member Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 I would have traded Clippard for Veras and I'd put a lot of money on Clippard being more valuable than Veras when it is all said and done this year.
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 I just have to sit back and watch everyone good be taken while I wait for my mediocre first pick at 40th overall.
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 Okay I'll be back at 12 tonight.
SpeedyGose Verified Member Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 I keep refreshing hoping for a Hurl response
TheHurl Site Manager Posted February 22, 2014 Posted February 22, 2014 I've decided to trade down to 6 through 9. If I can't get a deal made by 9:30 I'll take Guerrero.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted February 22, 2014 Posted February 22, 2014 My pick tomorrow will take all my 12 hours too. I work in the morning have a meeting in the afternoon and getting very drunk in the evening.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted February 22, 2014 Posted February 22, 2014 Do we have a rule on overnight windows? Kinda hard to expect gibbers to make a pick between 9 pm Friday and 9 am Saturday. I emailed him about an hour ago, maybe give him until noon at least?

I emailed him about an hour ago, maybe give him until noon at least? I think BBDL has a rule about that. Windows that start after a certain time get pushed back to start at noon the next day, something like that. Useful if one your owners gets steined over the weekend.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted February 22, 2014 Posted February 22, 2014 I'm sure several people have emailed him. It's a tough break but speedygose is free to make his pick whenever he's ready. I probably wouldn't show any mercy if it was my turn to pick, but I'm a dick like that.

I think a rule about draft window start times would be a good idea but it would have to be agreed upon before future drafts. It can't be applied retro-actively. At the moment, it will come down to what SpeedyGose does.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted February 22, 2014 Posted February 22, 2014 Yeah, I usually push for that but few people seem to take the option. I guess the bottom line is we have 100 picks to get through, and if we only average 5/day, this could take weeks to finish.

It hasn't been that long since the rosters have been finalized. Not everyone is a keener who dives right into the pool of available players as soon as possible.

I'll give him another hour, I know there were a couple times for me last year where my schedule got a bit hectic and almost missed my window. Watch him take my player now, lol
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted February 22, 2014 Posted February 22, 2014 Yeah, I usually push for that but few people seem to take the option. Well I wonder why...
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted February 22, 2014 Posted February 22, 2014 Here's my opinion. Before I say anything about the current situation, I think you need to have a noon windows rule. This is a brutal window. I know BTS said it takes 30 seconds to check the board, but that doesn't work with a 9-9 window. There's a very good chance someone could leave to meet up with people at 8 on a Friday night, get hammered, and not even wake up til 11 the next day. Are they supposed to a) make a drunken pick when they stumble home at 3 AM or set their alarm to wake up earlier and make a pick? Why not just make a rule where all windows that are set to expire after 6 AM get pushed to noon? Now for gibbers. If you're in a dynasty league you should be checking the DDL forum at least once a day, or at worst, at least once every TWO days. It takes 5 minutes tops to check both the proboards and DDL thread on here. If he was doing the above, he would have known the waiver draft is this weekend. The announcement for the waiver draft was three days ago. He could be out of town or something, but that's why you have to tell people you're going to be out of town for a few days in February. We all knew this draft was coming. It's perfectly fair for someone to make their pick when the window expires. I also wouldn't hold it against someone if they want to be a nice guy and give him more time. I personally wouldn't show mercy after 12 PM.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted February 22, 2014 Posted February 22, 2014 Gibbers selects Denard Span, Speedygose is now officially on the clock.
SpeedyGose Verified Member Posted February 22, 2014 Posted February 22, 2014 I select Tom Murphy - Colorado Rockies
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted February 22, 2014 Posted February 22, 2014 Jaysblue on the clock. See you all at midnight.
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted February 22, 2014 Posted February 22, 2014 Nice silvio picked! Back to hurl. He posted saying he will be at meetings all day and then drinking though.
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted February 22, 2014 Posted February 22, 2014 Just a thought for if this happens again where someone knows they will be away. I can understand not wanting to message someone your top 10 because they might be interested in the same guy and then choose him. I don't pick til 40th though, so you can message me and then I can post your pick for you.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted February 22, 2014 Posted February 22, 2014 Hurl said he was going to use his whole 12 hrs.
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted February 22, 2014 Posted February 22, 2014 Is anyone else having issues with the google doc or is it just me? I can only see prospects, MiLB picks, and Waiver picks. I can't see any of the owned players. It just shows rows 37 and on.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted February 22, 2014 Posted February 22, 2014 I hid the rows with the MLB players. That section won't be updated during the season, so use Yahoo.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted February 22, 2014 Posted February 22, 2014 There are a lot of usable players available, I'm having a hard time narrowing it down to a Top 5.
Laika Community Moderator Posted February 22, 2014 Author Posted February 22, 2014 The RP distribution draft continues with The Hurl taking Ed Mujica. Round 1 will continue as follows: 11 Havok22 12 TheCatsAss 13 No49 14 Dinger 15 Torontofan 16 BTS 17 KingKat 18 NJH 19 Realmin 20 Spanky
Laika Community Moderator Posted February 22, 2014 Author Posted February 22, 2014 There are a lot of usable players available, I'm having a hard time narrowing it down to a Top 5. It's hard to decide whether a guy will last until your next pick.
