Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 How could he not be on the Astro's top 10. DeShields is underrated I feel, he has 80 speed and he put up a .317/.405/.873 line as a 20yr old in A+. Plus he plays 2B and should be able to stick there. I don't care about any makeup issues as long as he keeps performing. If the Astros are so down on him he could be a good buy low for the Bluejays. They have Jose Altuve for 2B anyway. Actually, the Stros moved him to the OF. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. :/
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 1. Carlos Correa 2. Austin Meadows 3. Jesse Winker 4. David Dahl 5. Billy McKinney
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 I think Lindor can provide a nice OBP with 80+ R and 20+ SB, but the others I have no faith in.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 And FWIW, I own Lindor in another league and I'm very much relying on him to become my SSOTF. My expectations are very tempered.
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 I think Lindor can provide a nice OBP with 80+ R and 20+ SB, but the others I have no faith in. He f***ing better I don't plan on A Cab to be my starting SS all year.
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 1: Jorge Soler 2:Kris Byrant 3: Carlos Martinez 4: Garin Cecchini 5: Colin Moran 6:Lance McCullers
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 1. Archie Bradley 2. Nick Castellanos 3. Max Fried 4. Gary Sanchez 5. Brian Goodwin 6. Josh Bell 7. Reese McGuire Followed by what I figure will be a whole bunch of crap that never amounts to anything.
Laika Community Moderator Posted November 8, 2013 Author Posted November 8, 2013 I have a fugly farm. My most valuable prospect might be Stroman. Good thing farms don't matter because it's not real baseball!
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 (edited) 1. Maikel Franco 2. Chris Owings (Annoyingly, Arizona is wasting its time with the inferior Didi Gregorius) 3. Mookie Betts (I see him as my break-out candidate) 4. Jose Ramirez (the third my trio of MI prospects) 5. Eduardo Rodriguez (solid projectionable prospect but there may not be much of a ceiling) 6. Dan Vogelbach (dissapointment last year but he still seems to be getting prospect love) 7. & 8. Michael Fulmer and Victor Roache (couple of injured guys who've had a slow start to their careers and have a lot riding on 2013 results). 9. Chris Okey (little more than a place hoder for now but someone I'd prefer to hold on to on the chance he becomes a major draft prospect) 10.Mike O' Neill (org guy with uncanny walk rate, probably never gets a shot to show how true a Cardinal he is) Edited November 8, 2013 by KingKat
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Sonny Gray and Erlin for me, ended up trading both.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 I had great luck with Gyorko and Salazar. I promoted Marcel Ozuna, who was ok for a while and faded. I have high hopes for the future as the average was there for a bit but his power never showed up in the majors (.102 ISO in the minors and rose at every level)
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 I've only promoted Mike Montgomery, but that was for roster manipulation purposes prior to the draft (I outright cut him soon after). So I haven' really promoted any prospects.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 Haha......no wonder your team is so jacked, you traded the farm. Yep, I've traded all my high picks. Initial Draft 1 #17 Buxton -> Sale/Freeman 2 #24 Gary Sanchez -> Zimmerman -> Jose Fernandez 3 #57 Giolito -> Shields 4 #64 Marisnick -> Bourn? 5 #97 Yordano -> Shields Summer Draft 1 - Zimmerman deal (I think?) 2 - Traded 3 #55 Sonny Gray -> Desmond deal #83 Foltynewicz - Beachy deal And I traded my 1st and 2nd rounders for next summer already lol.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 There was a lot more to those deals but I tend to agree. But also, you need to draft well to have prospects that have trade value.
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 Has anyone promoted spects yet? I promoted Nick Franklin and put a hex on him, lol. Oswaldo Arcia, Bruce Rondon and Allen Webster. That was just to make room though
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 Has anyone promoted spects yet? I promoted Nick Franklin and put a hex on him, lol. I promoted Bradley way too early which was a rookie mistake on my part and it killed all his value. He's been passed around a couple of times since. I promoted that pitcher from Florida, whatshisname, he was insane and I flipped him for Ryan Zimmerman and Jon Lester which wasn't a mind-blowing return or anything but I was on a playoff run and it got me as far as the semi-finals.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 I haven't promoted any of mine yet. Bradley was promoted by another team and passed through my hands. I'll be promoting Puig before the season starts, not sure yet about anyone else.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 My top 10 1. George Springer (will be top 10 overall) 2. Eddie Rosario (him and Sims will be around the same spots in top 100 lists...but I have a clear favourite of the two. Most untradeable on my prospect list) 3. Lucas Sims 4. Corey Knebel (won't show up on any prospect lists, but he'll be closing in Detroit by the end of next season) 5. J.R. Graham (no shoulder injury and he's probably number 3) 6. Kevin Plawecki (watch my minor league drafts every year and you'll find a Kevin Plawecki, he's my prospect moneyball guy, will crush lefties in the majors, stays low on rankings because some people can't see him as a catcher. Struck out 29 times in 3 years in college, now has walked almost as much as he's K'd in his first two years in the minors. BA ranked him number 5 in the Mets org, up from 22 last year. He's a guy that every MLB team should be targeting as he's behind TdA at catcher and hits the same way. he's got Dom Smith behind him as a potential fast mover at 1B) 7. Chris Anderson (move him from the Dodgers org and I downgrade him) 8. Rob Kaminsky (Cards took a high school pitcher in the first...I took him completely based on that) 9. David Rodriguez (D-Rod the guy that at some point I'll deal or drop and regret for several years later, he's just too young to be owned in this format, so much talent though) 10. Tyler Naquin (I expect him to hit for good average in AA this year, that's the most positive thing I'll say) 11. Tzu-Wei Lin I joke that my system is weak but I really like the guys I have for fantasy ball.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 Who wants Jeff Locke for a pick? He's a top 100 pitcher who is just entering his prime. 25 years old and had a 3.xx era last year.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 Tidy 1.49 K/BB and 4.19 xFIP. They were worse then his career norms. Progression to the mean. PS. Don't be a cock block
Laika Community Moderator Posted November 10, 2013 Author Posted November 10, 2013 Who wants Jeff Locke for a pick? He's a top 100 pitcher.. He might be a top 100 baseball Jeff. Maybe.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 I didn't want to, but then you called him a top-100 pitcher and I couldn't stop myself. If you go by Yahoo's rankings he technically is.
havok24 Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 He might be a top 100 baseball Jeff. Maybe. lol
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 Couple small trades just went down.. Trade #1 To The Cats Ass: Justin Upton, Nick Delmonico, MiLB Pick #63 To z3r0s: Delino DeShields Jr, Rafael Montero, James Paxton, Sean Nolin, MiLB pick #22 Trade #2 To FearTheDoc: Clayton Kershaw To The Cats Ass: Julio Teherán, Archie Bradley, MiLB pick #20
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 My off-season wish list is pretty much complete now that I've got my ace. Though I wouldn't be against adding one more starter since I did lose Teheran in the deal.
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 I love what the team getting Upton and Kershaw was able to do (CatsAss and fearthedoc). Especially Upton -- trading five non-elite pieces for a good young player is what all of us are trying to do. My off-season wish list is pretty much complete now that I've got my ace. Though I wouldn't be against adding one more starter since I did lose Teheran in the deal. You now have the #1 position player AND the #1 pitcher. Nice!
TheHurl Site Manager Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 I really think z3r0s should have kept pushing me for Upton. I don't do deals (or anything) quickly but I left my deal with Springer, Lake, Wood and the 10 (asking for the 23 back). I would have added my prospect pitchers (Sims and Graham) easily.
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 Especially Upton -- trading five non-elite pieces for a good young player is what all of us are trying to do. Yeah I feel the same way. I prefer less prospects but higher quality. I would have demanded Aaron Sanchez/Mark Appel as a piece. You now have the #1 position player AND the #1 pitcher. Nice! Now I can package Trout + Kershaw together to finally covet a deal for Zach Lee.
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 I actually offered Sanchez and Jonathan Gray for Upton in August and was turned down. I feel like an elite prospect has to be included in any package for an established Major Leaguer, and that didn't happen here. Had z3r0s shopped Upton around a bit more, I definitely think a better deal would have emerged (such as Hurl's). Probably. I personally offered Castellanos but the supporting cast in my offer was poor (Crawford + 39th). I agree with your philosophy that a top 15 prospect should be included in any deal for an allstar major leaguer.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 I don't really get the Upton trade, I don't see any of those prospects being impact fantasy players. Love the Kershaw trade for FTD.
