Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted September 2, 2013 Posted September 2, 2013 Should the consolation playoffs count for final standings? (in terms of future draft pick slotting). I don't really think they should. I think teams 9-20 should be slotted based on final regular season standings, and then teams 1-8 will obviously place wherever they end up after the playoffs. What do you guys think? Is there even a consolation playdown for non-playoff teams? I wouldn't really know. Don't think I've ever missed the playoffs in fantasy baseball. I'm almost certain there is no consolation for teams 9-20 in 20 team leagues.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 just 30 minutes away. Last minute panic deal: Selling trout for back end rotation arm. Looking for something in bruce chen range. f*** i just missed out
TRM Verified Member Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 (edited) Hey fellas, as per a post from the old board I made: "I will purchase the winner (or send money equivalent to the value of a sandwich) of each division a sandwich that reflects the division they are in. Just cause I am such a nice guy, and want to add a little fun to the division races." So, that means No49, better start scouting out the best place to get a Turkey Club in Waterloo (I think I remember mentioning you went there), but if you are from Toronto, I recommend holding off until Thanksgiving and cashing in for a Turkey Bacon extra Bacon at Belly's. Dinger, I believe you are from Toronto, not sure what the best Reuben is in the city (Caplansky's, Corned Beef House?). And BTS, provided you hold on, I can't actually imagine there being anything worthwhile in Ottawa (save for Hintonburger, holy f*** that place is good) but pick something, and let me know. As for me, I gotta find a nice American joint in Copenhagen, and treat myself to a big and meaty Cheesesteak! As you were... Edited September 3, 2013 by TRM
TRM Verified Member Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 Oh, and I suppose this is as good a place as any to remind everyone that after all the seemingly unprovoked smack that No49 had for me, and his massive lead, I am leading him by 9 (nine) games going into the final week. Good day.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 Ooooh good call with Caplansky's!
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 Probably because there's no such thing as a Monte Carlo sandwich.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 A fun idea (not necessarily for this season) would be to have a 'sacko award' type thing for each division. The penalty being, you have to buy the divisional sandwich for the division winner.
Laika Community Moderator Posted September 4, 2013 Author Posted September 4, 2013 Faaaaack I have to return to the hospital, rebroke my hand, lol........CHOPPING WOOD on the weekend. They need to put you in a bubble
Laika Community Moderator Posted September 4, 2013 Author Posted September 4, 2013 I couldn't believe it, I guess it was from the vibration, I only had it off 5 weeks, the cast that is, and yes, I've needed a bubble lately. haha!! Broken back, twice broken hand, sprained wiener, gonorrhea, infected hemorrhoids.... it's tough being Spanky.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 You should be able to get a bubble that is full of beer, so that its kinda like a beer bath.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 If Spanky could stop getting blown out every week by silvergun and havok it would be great. Also, I have no f***ing idea where to find a Monte Carlo sandwich in Ottawa. lmfao @ Monte Carlo sandwich. your dumn

The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 A few September call-up waiver claims today. I used up my priority #3 to get Jimmy Nelson, who's a top 100 prospect on some lists. I also had a second claim on Erik Johnson who is also a top 100 on some lists. Anyone else put a claim in on these guys? I see Gibbers got Semien. And Hurl, well, I think he had a brain fart.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 Ya, I saw you got Johnson. I had a hard job deciding which one I wanted between Johnson and Nelson. I don't think MAG will even be signed before the end of the year let alone get put on the MLB roster. I wouldn't be getting him at #3 anyway, Spanky would snatch him up(unless he was on a 3 day bender).
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 And Hurl, well, I think he had a brain fart. Haha yeah. At least he caught it before he actually pitched though.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 This week can't end soon enough, I'm ready for some playoff action. I've got 4 teams raring to go, so I better take home some hardware this year.

I've got 4 teams raring to go, so I better take home some hardware this year. Same bro. Four leagues with playoffs, four decent playoff teams. We r fantasy rivalz lol
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 If I can hold onto my lead in TPL I'm also part of the Four in Four club. Realistically though, I don't expect to make a run in TPL or one of my others. I'm hoping I can make some noise in DDL and my F&F league though.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 I held off. Still crossing my fingers for desperation drops to avoid elimination. Something about a bird in your hand isn't as good as a bird in a bush. This week can't end soon enough, I'm ready for some playoff action. I've got 4 teams raring to go, so I better take home some hardware this year. My teams are depressing this year. I'm in 2 leagues and the highest I'm gonna finish is around 17th... I probably could have finished higher in this league if I didn't sell off my starters and go into "Re-tool" mode.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 Same bro. Four leagues with playoffs, four decent playoff teams. We r fantasy rivalz lol Your performance in L1 last year was the gold standard to which we all aspire. I love/hate you, man. Also I'm going to crush you in football this week.

I'll actually only be 4/5, my FC team is at the nadir of it's rebuold and is fighting Spanky this week in the Battle of the Basement. Looks like he's going to win (ie lose) and take home the most ping pong balls.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 Not as bad as getting relegated! That is the greatest shame of all.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted September 6, 2013 Posted September 6, 2013 MAG signed.......I'm hoping for a call-up soon. Ya, you're right, he did. Which makes me ask... Why the hell weren't we in on him if he only got 12 million over 3 years... He's on the Phillies 40-man, are there anymore hoops he has to jump through before he is able to play in the US?
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted September 6, 2013 Posted September 6, 2013 as for the contract I have no idea, it went from 3/36 to 3/12, maybe an age thing?! They found some problems with his elbow.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted September 6, 2013 Posted September 6, 2013 Found it, thanks feline rectum. The one I was looking at said they didn't like the look of it and that he already had surgery to remove bone spurs. As of right now I'd assume he's healthy and good to go. Link:
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 Turns out Felix Doubront is who I thought he was.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 Turns out Felix Doubront is who I thought he was. Said in Dennis Green voice.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 it's possible that I could lose by less than 2 games and could track it directly to Friday's decision to play Saunders over Lake which would have, at the current time, given me a full game ahead of where I am. I don't think it matters but it could. Regardless I had 10 games on 9th 3 weeks ago...my team just isn't good enough
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 So do I get Twist and Trout round 1 now?
