Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 What is the protocol for dropping prospects? Just post it under the yahoo page? I just created a thread on Yahoo, you can make your cuts there.
Laika Community Moderator Posted May 30, 2013 Author Posted May 30, 2013 But picks can be traded during the draft, correct? As long as MiLB rosters are cut down by the deadline, and no team ever owns more than 12 prospects. Yeah, that's kosher. As long as nobody ever goes over 12 minor league assets, which of course means that most trades during the draft will have an equal number of minor league pieces changing hands, since almost everybody will be going in with 12 assets.
TRM Verified Member Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 I need to drop a pick, #60 for #82 and #92? You still have an extra pick... wanna do one with me?
TRM Verified Member Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 No, sorry. I'm going to call up Montgomery into my NA slot when that opens up on Friday. Going to draft 7. Seems ill advised to call him up before you have to, but to each there own I suppose. You also would have to lose a roster player to do that, you can't pick someone up and add them directly to the NA slot, unless the typical Yahoo rules are going to be circumvented.
TRM Verified Member Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 I guess, but putting him in the NA slot adds him to the "40 Man" that needs to be cut down to 20 in the offseason.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 The cut down to 20 should be super interesting in this pool. Especially for the guys that are shoving young NA players away. Most teams will have 10 guys to cut, will be super tough decisions to make.
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 I'll probably chop down a lot of my RP each year.
TRM Verified Member Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 If I had a stud like Al Alburquerque to put in NA, he'd be dropped right now. But not everyone has that luxury. I honestly don't know if you are mocking me right now or not... Ha!
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 Jered Weaver is back, 6ip, 5H, 7SO, 0BB, 1ER. His velocity is back up higher then what it was at the beginning of the year, and he is now available for trade.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 I was hoping to stash Randal Delgado in my N/A spot but it looks like Rutledge is going to take that up now. If someone still has an extra pick, I'll flip him to you. I could also trade Rutledge instead but I doubt anyone wants to give me an early pick for him and that's what I'd want.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 Blockbuster trade. Jared Weaver was traded for Tyler Skaggs and the 8th overall draft pick. On another note, I now have a spare draft pick! If someone is down a pick and is looking to add one get at me, I can give you 2 picks in exchange for 1.

I didn't read what picks you have so I might have to adjust what I suggested. PS. Love the deal for you. Not a Jered fan though.
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 Blockbuster trade. Jared Weaver was traded for Tyler Skaggs and the 8th overall draft pick. Lol and no this was not some trade that just popped up. We've been in negotiations for weeks. Nice doin' business with you.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 It was a good deal. Hopefully it works out for us both, as long as Skaggs turns out.

Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 It was a good deal. Hopefully it works out for us both, as long as Skaggs turns out. Overall, I think you'll definitely get more value out of this. Skaggs has a good ceiling and even if he pitches like a #3, that's still amazing value since he is so young. I wanted to trade a younger piece of a guy who can step in and help me now though. With some aging outfielders, I want to make a strong push in the next 1-3 years. A few concerns with Weaver's velocity but if he can hang around the 87-89 area, I'm confident I'll get at least a few more good years. Worst case scenario would be if Skaggs comes up and pitches lights out next year, already outperforming Weaver. if that happens, I will probably go jump off a building.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 Very interesting trade. I'm not a Jered Weaver guy, but this seems like fair value if you think he's an ace. Cat's Ass is now loaded with picks, only team with two in the top 10. 2nd and 8th. I should be set up good for in the future and for now. I'm ranked as the 8th team right now and really didn't take away from my team any.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 Its a nice deal for both sides. I was offered the same for Price, though couldn't justify trading him just for only one unknown commodity. I think I asked for another prospect like Castellanos which I would have strongly considered. If Price was 30 or 31 like Weaver, then I likely would have done it, though with him still only being 27, it was tough to do.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 Also, I'm putting Carlos Santana on the block. A young OF would be ideal. If you want to do something around a prospect - I need a consensus top 5-10 guy coming back.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 Everyone feels sorry for Cats Ass, so they keep handing him talent...queue my bad deal with him.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 (edited) Everyone feels sorry for Cats Ass, so they keep handing him talent...queue my bad deal with him. I don't mind it. Keep up the good work guys! And it's not that bad of a deal, Mason has been hitting pretty poor this year. Edited May 31, 2013 by The Cats Ass
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 Those of you with extra farm assets: ROY OSWALT can be had for a late pick. Reported for spam
TheHurl Site Manager Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 And now I spend the off season trying to find a 2B upgrade on Infante...and I still have the worst OF in the pool
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 Glad we could work something out! There are a few more things I want to get done before the draft, this was a good start. What else are you looking for?
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 I'm taking offers on Yas Grandal. Looking for an SP or CF.
havok24 Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 Jay Bruce is available. Looking for a 3B or CF preferably. Prospects are okay too.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 I've got some guys at SS and 1B that have had good years. I'm not saying they are long term solutions, but they are certainly available.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 (edited) Hey guys, I know not everyone religiously reads the draft rules on the ProBoard, so here is a quick primer on the upcoming MiLB Draft: The annual MiLB draft will be held immediately following the conclusion of the real-life MLB Rule 4 Draft (June 8). The draft will consist of 6 rounds and will be conducted on the League Message Board (Yahoo). Draft picks will be assigned each winter at the conclusion of the playoffs (current year only, no future draft picks). Each owner will be allowed a 12 hour window in which to make their selection. After the 12 hour window, that owner may make their selection as soon as they arrive, but the draft will carry on in their absence and subsequent owners may make their selections. Only players who have never played an MLB game and who belong to an MLB parent team are eligible to be drafted. Players who have been drafted by an MLB parent team are eligible to be drafted, even if they have not signed with the parent club (as our annual draft will occur before the signing period has concluded). Drafted prospects that go unsigned and/or return to college may be kept at the owner’s discretion. At no time during the Yahoo season may a team’s MiLB roster exceed 12 prospects. This means that prior to the annual MiLB draft; an owner must cut/clear space on their MiLB roster for each draft pick they intend to use. For example, if an owner has 3 draft picks but only 2 open spots on their MiLB roster, they will only be able to draft 2 players and the third pick will be discarded (unless traded). All MiLB cuts must be made one week prior to the annual MiLB draft so that draft order can be finalized and unused picks removed from the draft. At this time, MiLB rosters will be frozen until the conclusion of the draft. If your MiLB roster is full at the time of the draft, you will not be allowed to draft prospects and all of your remaining picks will be discarded. Draft order will be determined by the standings of the previous season with a weighted lottery on the Top 5 picks. Edited June 1, 2013 by Dr. Dinger
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 Also, here are a list of GMs who are currently either over or under the maximum combined 12 prospects/picks. If you are +, you need to trim down prospects or your latest picks will be discarded, if you are -, you can take on prospects or picks. If you are not on the list, you're already at 12. Twist and Trout -1 Georgia Peach +2 ISO Horny -1 Jurassic Kats -2 London Slayers +1 A 2nd Leg to Stand On -1 The Lyon Tamer -2 The True Cardinals -2
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 If anyone wants an extra pick I can do a 2 for 1 swap
