Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted May 12, 2013 Posted May 12, 2013 Who would have started Lyles vs. the Rangers? It's pretty much just Beltre, Berkman and scrubs today, and they still blew him up.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted May 12, 2013 Posted May 12, 2013 MVP - Tough not to go with Wainwright and his 13.75 K/BB ratio but Segura has been Mr. Everything on my offense. I'm so glad I wanted a huge deal early (top 10 guys) or I probably would have moved Segura in April. Longoria has been everything I asked as well LVP - BJ Upton...I don't think anyone could match this one. Oddly enough I still like him a bit and he won't hit my bench until he hits Atlanta's bench
TheHurl Site Manager Posted May 12, 2013 Posted May 12, 2013 My f***ing Milone Management costing me a stat. Didn't play him earlier as I have the "no Milone on the road rule" I looked safe in the ratio stats and needed K's so I play him today and he costs me OPBA (by the tiniest of points). Turns out I shouldn't need his 4 k's

Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted May 12, 2013 Posted May 12, 2013 I thought we were doing this week only, oops. MVP - Miggy and Crush Davis have carried my offence. LVP - Dusty Baker, for keeping Chapman a closer.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 The top of the Reuben division just got a little mustard, at the time of writing the division standings look like Speedygose 45-34-5 TheHurl 43-34-7 Dinger 42.36-6 to sit 2nd, 6th and 7th. Although the two best records are in the same division both with 50 wins
TRM Verified Member Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 And that's what happens! thehurl wins his matchup 11-1. #beatTZLF You could use some help, methinks.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 seriously Alexei Ramirez steals two and we tie
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 Gonna be at the top of those offensive PRs soon.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 MVP: Hitting: Anthony Rizzo - 9HR, 28rbi, .352obp, .538slg, even 4sb. Next generation of top Firstbasemen. Pitching: My 3-headed monster called Buchshawkuma - 164.6 innings, 13 wins, 167 so, 1.68era, 4.25 K/BB, .237obpa. I just can't choose only one of them. Kershaw has been Kershaw, and Bucholtz and Iwakuma have been Kershaw too. They've turned out to be steals so far. LVP: Hitting: Josh Hamilton - I'm at a lose for words on how to describe him. He was susposed to carry my offence, right now I wouldn't trust him to carry my jock-strap. Pitching: Not sure if it's fair to put a player here because of injury, but if I can it would be Weaver, but that's a case of a high pick being injured. Other then that I would have to go with Marmol and his 5.14/0.92/.420, but of course that's what I should have expected with him.

Living up to the expectations so far, I couldn't ask for a better performance. .297/.387/.619 slash line and 10 HR, if I want to nitpick, he only has 1 SB. MVP Pitcher: Mike Minor. I was hoping for him to continue his solid numbers from last year, but he's been even better taking a step forward. 2.96 ERA 3.56 FIP 4.75 K/BB .236 OBPA. LVP Batter: Edwin. His HR are there but only .313 OBP and .469 SLG. LVP Pitcher: Gio. He is starting to come around but he is not pitching like the ace I need him to be. 4.20 ERA 2.20 K/BB .287 OBPA
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted May 14, 2013 Posted May 14, 2013 I'm rather interested in Beckett if anyone wants to do a claim-and-trade. Wow, seriously someone dropped Josh Beckett in this deep of a league? I mean I know he has struggled, though in a deep league like this, you at least hold onto him and hope he regains his form. He's had some nice starts this year.

Yeah, or if you want to cut ties, at least trade him for a mid rounder or something. Rookie mistake by Kats.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted May 14, 2013 Posted May 14, 2013 Yeah, or if you want to cut ties, at least trade him for a mid rounder or something. Rookie mistake by Kats. Heck, he's actually has had good peripherals this season. If he doesn't go on the DL, I think he can turn it around pitching in the NL West and at that pitchers park. I would have easily given him a mid round-late round pick.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted May 14, 2013 Posted May 14, 2013 if not he's not getting past the number 2 waiver spot. Of course if Sil didn't mention it here no way I'd notice it.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted May 14, 2013 Posted May 14, 2013 Looking to deal Cody Ross in a hurry. Just looking to move up a bit on any of my picks (ie a pick for Ross + a pick). Best offer takes him.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted May 14, 2013 Posted May 14, 2013 Seth Smith is available. For those who want a better hitter than Cody Ross, let me know. Since this is an .OBP league, Seth Smith is more valuable.

Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 Just got Matt Harvey for Wieters and the 4th overall pick . Wow, love this one for you. I really dont see Wieters as a special fantasy player, his value is mostly defensive. I guess now Gibbers plays Posey at 1B? I'm biased, but IMO I made a stronger offer.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 I don't think Wieters will ever develop into more than a ~0.330 wOBA bat, but he's a consistent source of counting stats, which is nice. My farm system is going to look very weak at the end of the year though. Meh, I don't think the 4th pick will end up costing you that much, I think it's a weak draft. Easily worth it to land a pre-prime ace like Harvey.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 The rules state "Only players who have never played an MLB game and who belong to an MLB parent team are eligible to be drafted." If I interpret this correctly, that means that any IFA signed as part of the current signing period before our draft is eligible? I don't know how likely it is for a major IFA to sign between now and then but I thought I would clear up whether this is something I should monitor or if I can just forget about the current crop of IFAs.

Yep. If they sign with a team prior to the draft, they are eligible.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 What if they've signed but are under investigation? Like the Jairo Beras situation last year. What if a player signs in the middle of the draft? I presume if they weren't eligible when we started, they are off limits for the entire draft. I wouldn't want anyone to try to pull a fast one.

Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 That would make sense. What if a player in MiLB is called up after the draft starts? If the Braves call up Alex Wood a few minutes before I pick, can I still take him? As long as he hasn't played a game you can draft him. In fact, theoretically a player could have been added to the Yahoo database, owned on a roster, released, and then later drafted in the prospect draft, as long as they haven't played an MLB game. For example, last year Corey Spangenberg was in the database, this year he isn't. Yahoo is a little better about not adding prospects in the low minors now, though.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 I would have loved to get this guy... I just don't think we matched up with me trying to get younger
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 Dang, I was really hoping Harvey would go with a combo of young players, prospects and picks. Would love to see someone set the market with moving an elite prospect
