Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted February 27, 2015 Posted February 27, 2015 Horton's contract counts during off-season?
GD Old-Timey Member Posted February 27, 2015 Author Posted February 27, 2015 Holy f***, the Leafs clearned Clarkson's cap hit for nothing but cash. I hope Horton comes back and sucks. In which case, it will still be a win, because David Clarkson is awful.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted February 27, 2015 Author Posted February 27, 2015 Horton's contract counts during off-season? Don't teams only have to be salary cap compliant by October though? So you go over the cap in the summer then put him on LTIR.

Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted February 27, 2015 Posted February 27, 2015 Columbus approached Nonis.. works for both sides
GD Old-Timey Member Posted February 27, 2015 Author Posted February 27, 2015 Ya I don't think so. That would be like getting Horton for league min for Phaneuf. Eh, Wells was still a productive player when he was dealt, just on an unfortunate contract. Clarkson is unproductive and on a horrendous contract, and we might just have completely cleared that contract. Columbus approached Nonis.. works for both sides The parallels to the Wells deal (ParaWells?) are striking.
BTS Community Moderator Posted February 27, 2015 Posted February 27, 2015 Columbus approached Nonis.. works for both sides Does it? Is Clarkson better than replacement-level? Are they better off with Clarkson, or with Horton in the press box and some guy in his place on the ice?

If he's in and out of the lineup for the next few years, he's a Clarkson-esque anchor.

Doubt he makes it to the end of the contract though, which even then would save a lot of money (and those years are probably more important than the next few).

That would have to be the case. Horton's cap hit is 6M for 5 more years vs. 4.75 for Clarkson. Hopefully for the Leafs he retires.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted February 27, 2015 Author Posted February 27, 2015 Hopefully for him he retires. Sounds like he's in pretty s***** condition. Or at least do what Pronger did and sit on LTIR collecting salary w/ no cap hit.

GD Old-Timey Member Posted February 27, 2015 Author Posted February 27, 2015 Is his injury even something that can be rehabilitated?

Jonzo Verified Member Posted February 27, 2015 Posted February 27, 2015 Why on earth would he retire? I'm pretty sure he would forfeit his salary. LTIR until his contract ends, then retires..

Frag Verified Member Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015 Interesting new metric that weights shots by score and whether the player was involved in the goal or not.
Nox Verified Member Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015 Interesting new metric that weights shots by score and whether the player was involved in the goal or not. This was a good article.
Frag Verified Member Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015 Also, since JFAS was weighting secondary assists recently, these are the ratios of the weights of 1st assists/2nd assists relative to the weight of goals: Forwards: Goals: 1.00 (ref) Primary assists: 0.97 Secondary assists: 0.75 Dmen: Goals: 1.00 (ref) Primary assists: 5.93 Secondary assists: 1.91
