I feel like the Leafs are karma payback for me making fun of the 76ers so much. They are basically the same type of clownish underachieving teams. Anyways, I'll be cheering hardest for Edmonton or Calgary this year. Those people out west deserve something good after the repeated kick to the balls this country gives them.

Good effort, they played for the single point in the third, walked out with two at the rink of one of the best teams

Leaves fans are insufferable. They are an annoying team to be a fan of but they are sitting in a playoff spot, right? It would be pathetic for them to have sold anybody, and I see and hear so many fans whining that the team is not ready and they should have been sellers.

It's understandable. The way in which they've lost a lot of games shows that they really don't have the mental or intestinal fortitude so make a serious run at anything.

 

...and I think when they say 'sellers' they mean move expiring contracts, not core pieces. And I get that frustration...believe me...if they do make the playoffs, does anyone really have any confidence that they have a prayer in hell against Tampa or Boston? Probably not.

Man, they have Matthews, Marner, Tavares, and Nylander. Plus a handful of guys like Kapanen, Hyman, Reilly, Sandin, Barrie, Johnsson, Muzzin, Mikheyev, Freddie who appear to not suck. They certainly have a prayer against the elite teams. One seeds lose to eight seeds frequently.

They do...a few injuries aside. And yes, they absolutely have the talent to play with anyone. The concern has been, for a few years now, that this team isn't willing to commit to what it takes to play a smart defensive game. 6-4 games don't work in the playoffs...it's been proven. When they run into an opponent that's relentless, this team wilts. So, yes, anything can happen, but I do believe this team is flawed in the way it's constructed. There are moves that need to happen, but those really are off-season kind of problems.

Well I certainly agree that they are flawed. Tied for first in goals for, third worst in goals against. All offense and s*** defense. Andersen would have to steal a game or two for them to beat a great team in a series.

 

I don't think it's a matter of will. I'm sure some of these guys wish they were two-way players, they just aren't.

Exactly. They are what they are. They'll need to bring in some of what they aren't in the summer.

The most insufferable fans in North American sports. I hope the Leaves miss the playoffs but it's just so hard to know since every team is the same and losing can be worth half as much as a win (very dumb).

I hate the philosophy of playing not to lose...but that's essentially what Bettman has created.

But then you run the risk of losing the loser point.

 

Tampa has played 1 less game than Boston, has 1 more win, yet is 5 points behind.

 

Playing not to lose is a smart strategy, even though it's stupid.
