How many columns in the standings these days? Win - Loss - Overtime loss - Overtime loss but they tried extra hard - Shootout win - Shootout loss - shoot out loss but the other team got lucky...Anything like that?

Most annoying part about all the columns is how they say that all these teams are .500 or better, when they aren't.

If you're 35, 35 and 12 ... you aren't playing .500 hockey. You've won 35 and lost 47, and been awarded points for 12 of the losses because they've been in OT or a shootout. But you aren't a .500 team

I understand what you're saying... but do you want ties back? I think they should award a regulation/overtime win with 3 pts and a SO win with 2 and the loser getting 1 in the other cases, something of that ilk. They still use ROW's as a tiebreak to get into the playoffs.

I don't watch hockey, because it's stupid, but it's dumb that if a team wins (not overtime or shootout), they get 2 pts, and the other team gets 0.

But, if a team wins in a shootout, they get 2 pts, and the other team gets 1 pt.

The total amount of points awarded per game should be consistent.

Agreed for the most part, but losing in a shoot-out would suck balls. (You're stupid)

The Tkachuk-Backlund-Frolik line has to be the best line in the NHL right now that doesn't have an All-Star on it.

I'd have to agree. How does Toews make it, and a kid like Tkachuk doesn't? There was quite a few stupid omissions.

Atkinson didn't even make it...

I would rather have Ties after the 5/10 Min OT than the current system. Gives more incentive to win the game. Agree that they need to go to 3 points for Regulation Wins. Also the Standings needs to be ordered by Point %. Its ridiculous the Bruins have played 5 more games than other teams in their division yet are *ahead* in the standings.

Meh, I'd take the SO out and let them play 3 on 3 for 10 minutes all day... if it ends in a tie, so be it. The latter part of your post will end up being an end result, regardless... when they play the full 82 games. Right now I look at the Leafs in 2nd considering that point.

I was at the game tonight. That line, as usual, was the best line for either team.

The game of hockey and the point system are two separate things. You don't watch hockey "because it's stupid" is kind of a stupid comment. If they were to change the point system to something not so "stupid" by your logic, you'd start watching. But how does that actually change the game on the ice....you know, the part that we actually watch?

If you don't like the sport itself, that's fine...I can respect that, but to call an entire sport stupid because you don't like 2 points for a win, 1 point for an OT or Shootout loss and 0 points for a regulation loss is kind of dumb.
