_Nox_ Verified Member Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 For Marko Dano, a 1st and conditional pick. Thats a nice haul. It is. But it seems incompatible with signing Buff. Should have moved him too.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 For Marko Dano, a 1st and conditional pick. Thats a nice haul. If Chicago wins the cup, they get a 3rd, that's the condition, great haul.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 I'm happy the moved him, but I would have thought there was a better deal out there than Marko Dano (shite) and what will basically be a 2nd round pick. I'm underwhelmed as a kind Jets fan. At least they got something for him.

z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 I don't get the (mild) love Dano gets. The guy hasn't produced anywhere... ever.

I know what your saying but i don't think you were going to get a big name prospect for a 2nd line winger. You could of likely got a solid prospect and later picks, or a work in progress prospect with a first round pick. Thats the way i see it. I am not very good when it comes to value for Hockey trades so i could be talking out of my ass.

z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 Wow... yer dumn. I've seen worse players moved for more. Or do you disagree that Dano bloooows?
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 I've seen worse players moved for more. Or do you disagree that Dano bloooows? That's a very good haul for a rental man, period. Especially when he requested to be moved to Chicago.

He didn't have a no-trade tho did he? So who GAF where he wanted to go. Off the top of my head from last year. Vermette for Dahlbeck and a 1st. Ladd is better than Antointe Franson netted TOR a 1st rounder last year too. Ladd is better than him. Sekera netted a 1st rounder + prospect last year. Vanek got Moulson, a 1st, and a 2nd in 2014. He and Ladd are pretty similar actually Unless you like Dano a LOT more than me, its not that big a haul.
King Old-Timey Member Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 I've seen worse players moved for more. Or do you disagree that Dano bloooows? You're an idiot. If you're looking at points he had 21 in 34 games in Columbus as a 19/20 year old. Not to mention, playing in the KHL as a 17/18 year old is a feat in itself. Chicago wasn't utilizing him properly when he played there this season (like Petan) which was why he was sent down. Off the top of my head, he's a fantastic puck possession player. He was Chicagos #1 ranked prospect this season. To get a 1st on top of that, and then a conditional 3rd for a player who wasn't resigning here is a great haul.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 I guess time will tell. I just don't get the Dano love.

z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 Decided to check some of the online scouting reports in case my recollections of Dano were way off Hockey Futures Talent Analysis Dano is an average sized player that relies on his speed to create opportunities. He works hard in the offensive zone and is able to keep the puck on his stick. He has decent hands and can find the open man in traffic. In the defensive zone, Dano is responsible and knows when to step up on his mark. He plays a gritty game. Hockey News Assets: Owns a great shot, elusive skating ability and a lot of creativity on offense. Is versatile enough to play either wing or center, and he's especially good when shooting from his off-wing (right). Flaws: Doesn't have a big frame (5-11), so he needs to get stronger in order to play an effective game in North America. Also lacks offensive consistency, while the rest of his game is only average (at best). Career Potential: Versatile scoring forward with upside. stud

Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 good talk Spank, good talk There isn't a talk, the haul was very good. You're wrong.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 There isn't a talk, the haul was very good. You're wrong. well I think you're wrong. All you've done this thread is say 'no your wrong'. At least King offered some reason he thought it was a good trade. Oh well, we'll see how it works out.

Uhmm... a first round pick/a skilled 2 way player that keeps the puck on his stick, has already played in the NHL at 21 years old with success and high upside, and a conditional pick, possibly a 3rd for a "RENTAL'', is a very good f***ing haul. I never said "your" once. Just you're and yer... I SAID GOOD DAY!

I'd be happy as a pig in s*** to get that potential, it's where Ladd sits now. Hockey Futures Talent Analysis Dano is an average sized player that relies on his speed to create opportunities. z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 Nothing in those scouting reports screams to me that he's going to be a consistent 50 point guy. Seems very 'meh' to me. Pair that with what will probably be a 25-30 pick overall, doesn't seem like a great haul, even for a rental. In any case, we'll see what happens.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted February 26, 2016 Author Posted February 26, 2016 Hockey players don't seriously still get evaluated on points do they?
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 Yeah I haven't bought into advanced hockey stats like I have for baseball. Not that I discount them all together, but I don't think the can just replace some of the traditional measures yet (maybe ever).
