Errorcebia Verified Member Posted October 4, 2013 Posted October 4, 2013 What is the best site for advanced hockey stats? I am trying to get back into the game a little more and would like to know more about advanced player evaluation.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted October 4, 2013 Author Posted October 4, 2013 What is the best site for advanced hockey stats? I am trying to get back into the game a little more and would like to know more about advanced player evaluation. behindthenet.ca has some great stats but just try and do some googling for explanation of stats, that's what I plan on doing.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted October 4, 2013 Author Posted October 4, 2013 Even armed with the best stats currently available people tend to do a lot of derping when discussing hockey. It's certainly far from perfect but it's nice to expand your knowledge. Unfortunately it's not to the point of baseball yet.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted October 4, 2013 Posted October 4, 2013 It's certainly far from perfect but it's nice to expand your knowledge. Unfortunately it's not to the point of baseball yet. Hockey and basketball are also far more dynamic, and individual results depend much more on teammates. It's much harder to do advanced analysis on it I would think.

There's a real stat revolution coming in there too it's great.
havok24 Old-Timey Member Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 Quick gives up 4- now out of the game. Scrivens in. Great for me, bad for havok! Go jets go! For f*** sakes Quick.
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 Forgot to set my damn lineup today, missed out on anderson's shutout.. buffalo is going to be really bad this year.
havok24 Old-Timey Member Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 Cody Franson or Marc Methot Who would you guys rather have going forward? Thread on HF boards.

Frag Verified Member Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 Kulemin out a few weeks with a messed up ankle Dion Phaneuf slapshot during practice. First Lupul, now Kulemin. Can he please target someone else, like Colton Orr?

havok24 Old-Timey Member Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 So... My matchup this week has Josi (my team) vs Downie (havoks team) And last night this happened http://nesn.com/2013/10/steve-downie-crushes-predators-roman-josi-with-huge-hit-could-face-punishment-from-nhl-video/ lol. Your Jets blasted Quick haha.
havok24 Old-Timey Member Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 MacArthur goes off on Carlyle: http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/ottawa-senators-clarke-macarthur-sounds-off-on-former-coach-randy-carlyle/ "I didn't have a relationship (with Carlyle) and not many guys do," MacArthur told sportsnet.ca and two Ottawa-based reporters. "It's one of those things where he runs the show there and everyone knows that and that's the way it is." “It’s worked for him in the past, he’s got a (Stanley) Cup from that, but at the same time there’s other ways to do things, too.” “It was a tough way to end it,” MacArthur said of his tenure in Toronto. “Just getting scratched in the playoffs, that was it for me. I came back and I scored some goals that were good for the team, but I was done here after that. That was it, the game of hockey, it wasn’t exciting coming in any more. “It was time to move on.” Same coach that elects to play scrubs like Orr and McLaren, but faults skilled players like Grabo, Mac, and Gardiner. What a moron.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted October 5, 2013 Author Posted October 5, 2013 Why the f*** is he still employed ugh
havok24 Old-Timey Member Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 Why the f*** is he still employed ugh BEST COACH EVER!!!!!! GRITTTTTY!! FACEPUNCHING!! I love how Leaf fans keep saying Grabo and Mac lost their jobs and that's why they were healthy scratches. UMMM please explain scrubs like Orr and McLaren in the lineup on a consistent basis. Or how about Holzer and Kostka playing regularly over Jake Gardiner. This team made the playoffs but Carlyle's personnel decisions were horrid. He definitely cost this team points in the standings last season. I'm sorry but how the heck can people not see that Reimer was pretty much responsible for last years success anyway. You want to talk PK? Give credit to Scott Gordon since he is the one that runs and operates the PK. Carlyle is a joke.

Errorcebia Verified Member Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 I love that Grabi has been great for Washington so far. And his replacement is suspended for 8 more games
Errorcebia Verified Member Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 Leaf fans deserve Caryle though. Just look at the comments at the bottom of that sportsnet article.
havok24 Old-Timey Member Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 Leaf fans deserve Caryle though. Just look at the comments at the bottom of that sportsnet article. They really do deserve him. It's going to be funny seeing their reaction when this team starts to falter and he is on the brink of being fired.
Frag Verified Member Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 They really do deserve him. It's going to be funny seeing their reaction when this team starts to falter and he is on the brink of being fired. I would LOVE to see Carlyle's team (whether with the Leafs or anyone else) without good goaltending. Goaltenders have been his best friend since he started coaching.
Errorcebia Verified Member Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 Hopefully he gets fired at some point. I don't think Nonis has any personal attachments to him. He was a Burke guy.
havok24 Old-Timey Member Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 Leaf fans bashing Grabo and MacArthur while simultaneously praising Carlyle and Bozak. Same fanbase that threw Reimer under the bus after that game 7 in Boston. I hate this fanbase sometimes. Hockey fans are unbelievable.

Same fanbase that threw Reimer under the bus after that game 7 in Boston. I hate this fanbase sometimes. Hockey fans are unbelievable. Everyone I know loves to tell me about how overrated Dion Phaneuf is. Now when it's a hot girl sure I go with it but when a guy who owns a Mike Kostka jersey and asks you if you've ever even played the game when he plays house league hockey that's another thing
GD Old-Timey Member Posted October 5, 2013 Author Posted October 5, 2013 Guys James Reimer CLEARLY can't use his glove hand and Bernier should get all his starts right? f*** what a save.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted October 5, 2013 Author Posted October 5, 2013 Bolland Raymond and even Bodie all looked awesome on that play. Excellent forecheck by Bodie, INSANE pass by Bolland, and beauty snipe from Raymond.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted October 5, 2013 Author Posted October 5, 2013 Raymond is great. Atta boy Kads. Loving Leaf Nation crowding outside the ACC.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted October 5, 2013 Author Posted October 5, 2013 The battle of Ontario is getting legitimate again and I love it.
