Frag Verified Member Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 Clarksons the biggest idiot of everyone on the ice. Jesus how f***ing stupid is he Agreed. Really f***ing dumb.
Frag Verified Member Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 Ok, this gif made me lol: http://cdn0.sbnation.com/assets/3270871/kessel-lightsaber.gif
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 And even bigger question: Why the blue and white f*** did Randy Carlyle put Kessel on against Scott, considering the Leafs were the home team and he has last change? Better question, why doesnt the NHL make a better effort to get these clowns out of the league? It's not fun watching these guys who cant skate or do anything well besides hurt people.

It's totally unfair to those players if they struggled to find a job in the league for a petty reason like lack of talent!
Frag Verified Member Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 The first hack by Kessel was MAYBE justifiable The 2nd one was f***ing unnecessary And the spear near the end was just plain stupidity Enjoy your suspension I think this article by a Habs fan sums it up better.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 Honestly I've gone from being a supporter of fighting in hockey to completely indifferent to fighting to now being very much against. With the unwritten rules of who goons should fight to guys killing themselves after a career of concussions, it just makes no sense to not get rid of it at this point.
Frag Verified Member Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 I posted it on Twitter, but I'll say it again here: This game proved to me that not only do enforcers not actually protect their star players, they indirectly increase their chance of injury when the other team wants to retaliate.
havok24 Old-Timey Member Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 Although, watching the video again, Scott hacks Kessel in the back of the legs and says "let's go" There really wasn't much Kessel could do but Jesus Christ don't two hand him with your stick Who gives a f***? John Scott wants to start that bush league garbage, then he better be prepared for more bush league crap to come to him. Scott is a f***ing idiot. Complete definition of useless.

I can't believe John Scott is an NHL player. Holy f***ing hell. Beer league talent.
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 I can't believe John Scott is an NHL player. Holy f***ing hell. Beer league talent. Neither can I believe that Colton orr is a hockey player. Neither could I believe that people actually enjoy watching fighting in hockey. It's so boring..its stops the game and usually means untalented hacks are on the ice acting like a bunch of teenage dumb asses out there. MMA is incredibly entertaining, if you want to watch a fight, go watch that.

GD Old-Timey Member Posted September 23, 2013 Author Posted September 23, 2013 Only players that deserve blame here are Clarkson and Scott.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 Only players that deserve blame here are Clarkson and Scott. Totally disagree that Kessel is free of blame. His teammates jumped in and got him out of the fray already when he went in swinging an axe (coming equally as close to hitting his own teammates) I can forgive the initial swing as he was being mauled by a bear.

I more blame Carlyle for putting Kessel out there in the first place.

Honestly, and it's not being a homer, I dont blame Kessel one bit being pissed off and swining his stick at that douche. What giant just charges at a 6 foot player like that
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 The first hack by Kessel was MAYBE justifiable The 2nd one was f***ing unnecessary And the spear near the end was just plain stupidity Enjoy your suspension It wasn't really a spear, at least not in the traditional suspension worthy sense. He targetted the hip pad, got him with the flat part of the blade and didn't hit him hard. It was much more of a hack than a spear IMO. I also didn't watch the game and only the replays though. It could have looked worse in the moment. That second slash definitely deserves a suspension though ~5 games IMO and I'm a Leafs fan. Scott, or any enforcer that targets a star in the pre-season, should get a few too. The NHL needs its stars, it doesn't need the Scott's of the league.
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 Honestly I've gone from being a supporter of fighting in hockey to completely indifferent to fighting to now being very much against. With the unwritten rules of who goons should fight to guys killing themselves after a career of concussions, it just makes no sense to not get rid of it at this point. Unfortunately the NHL has become the ugly attention seeking sister of professional sports. The league is trying desperately to get an audience and fighting gets that attention. That brawl is going to be on every highlight show in the US in Canada. Without it that game would have gone mostly unnoticed. Perhaps they can get Miley Cyrus to come out and twerk at centre ice to open the season. It seems like it's the logical next step to these goons running a muck.
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 I more blame Carlyle for putting Kessel out there in the first place. Only good thing that came out of it was Clarkson stepping up for his winger. Looks like Nonis found his Gilmour a Wendal haha
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 (edited) Only players that deserve blame here are Clarkson and Scott. Only watched the replays, why would Clarkson deserve blame? Was he taking runs at the Sabres? EDIT: Just realized Clarkson came off the bench for that fight. He's going to be gone for awhile. I still love the way he stood up for Kessel, just wish he was on the ice at the time! haha Edited September 23, 2013 by DuckDuckGose
havok24 Old-Timey Member Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 Raymond signs with the Leafs: 1yr/1M Not sure how they are going to sign Franson.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted September 23, 2013 Author Posted September 23, 2013 Spoiler, they won't lol.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted September 23, 2013 Author Posted September 23, 2013 So how many teams in the league are managed more incompetently than the Leafs? - Flames - Oilers - Flyers - maybe the Lightning? I think the Stars may have their foot in the door, and historically, the Rangers, but that's probably about it.
torontofan Verified Member Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 Only players that deserve blame here are Clarkson and Scott. I disagree using you stick as a "weapon" is probably the most bush league thing you can do.
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 I disagree using you stick as a "weapon" is probably the most bush league thing you can do. A 6'8 guy just charging at a much smaller star player to make himself relevant is much worse..
Frag Verified Member Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 Clarkson gets 10 regular season games. LOL. So idiotic of him.
havok24 Old-Timey Member Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 Apparently Scott is claiming that Kessel agreed to a fight with him. Yeah that's totally believable!
havok24 Old-Timey Member Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 So idiotic of him. Funny part: He jumped off the bench and didn't really do anything for the most part. Just yapping the whole time. He could have did that from the bench lol.
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 Apparently Scott is claiming that Kessel agreed to a fight with him. Yeah that's totally believable! Yep, im sure Kessel even told him to just charge at him in a split second as well..f***ing baboon.
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 Its acceptable IMO because Kessel has an unlikable. Of course he is..he's a star player who plays for a hated franchise. Coupled with the fact that he barely speaks to/responds to the media when they criticize him..just shurgs and say's okay. Have you ever done that to a girlfriend in the past? Just pisses them off even more.
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 I believe the word you were looking for BTS was face. unlikeable face.
