havok24 Old-Timey Member Posted September 11, 2013 Posted September 11, 2013 Leafs sign Kadri to 6m/2 years. Nice deal! Time to get Franson locked up now.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted September 11, 2013 Author Posted September 11, 2013 Nice deal! Time to get Franson locked up now. With $1.9m of cap space remaining lol
havok24 Old-Timey Member Posted September 11, 2013 Posted September 11, 2013 With $1.9m of cap space remaining lol I think they will have about 3M if they demote a couple of guys to the minors (Holzer and someone else).
GD Old-Timey Member Posted September 11, 2013 Author Posted September 11, 2013 I think they will have about 3M if they demote a couple of guys to the minors (Holzer and someone else). Really? That's manageable then.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted September 11, 2013 Author Posted September 11, 2013 Hoping Franson gets signed quickly now, him and Gardiner are a pretty decent 3-4 pair. More than decent, lol.
havok24 Old-Timey Member Posted September 11, 2013 Posted September 11, 2013 Really? That's manageable then. Yup. Raymond will probably come really cheap too.
havok24 Old-Timey Member Posted September 11, 2013 Posted September 11, 2013 Raymond vs Colborne for 3rd line winger Raymond on the 3rd line. Colborne/d'Amigo on the 4th with McClement. That's what I'm hoping for at least.
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2013 Posted September 12, 2013 Lupul already has back spasms. Damn guy can never be 100% healthy.
Tuco Verified Member Posted September 14, 2013 Posted September 14, 2013 I actually really like this Leafs lineup for the first time in a billion years. This is my lineup although I have the feeling they will send Rielly down and somehow keep both Orr and McLaren in the lineup and Fraser in the top 6. JVR - Bozak - Kessel Lupul - Kadri - Clarkson Raymond - Bolland - Kulemin McLaren - McClement - Colbourne Gunnarson - Phaneuf Gardiner - Franson Rielly - Ranger Bernier Reimer Lots of depth. Lots of team speed especially on D and 2 quality goalies. I really think Paul Ranger will be the suprise of this season.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted September 14, 2013 Author Posted September 14, 2013 I don't want Rielly starting, but it's a really nice lineup, honestly, it's better than last year's. It's just the horrible f***ing cap situation.

GD Old-Timey Member Posted September 14, 2013 Author Posted September 14, 2013 Whats wrong with the cap situation... our team is set for the year. Next year cap goes up. If we end up losing Franson because of the cap I'm gonna be pissed. Nonis is just really terrible with cap management.

GD Old-Timey Member Posted September 14, 2013 Author Posted September 14, 2013 Well keep franson. Something will get worked out. I really really hope so.
havok24 Old-Timey Member Posted September 14, 2013 Posted September 14, 2013 I don't want Rielly starting, but it's a really nice lineup, honestly, it's better than last year's. It's just the horrible f***ing cap situation. I want Rielly in the lineup. It's either the Leafs or Moose Jaw for him. He has nothing left to learn in junior. Give him sheltered minutes on the 3rd pair with a bit of PP time. He can continue his development with the Leafs at the pro level. Sending him back to the dub would be a mistake IMO. Franson is a huge part of this D core. A big 6'5 right handed shot from the blueline that can run a PP? That's tough to replace. The Leafs need more RH D not less. Franson better be signed.
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted September 14, 2013 Posted September 14, 2013 Mclaren down with a hand/finger injury.

Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted September 15, 2013 Posted September 15, 2013 Leafs lineup tonight Leivo-Kadri-Broll Abbott-Bolland-Rupert Raymond-Colborne-Biggs Devane-Gauthier-Brodie Rielly-Holzer Liles-Blacker Ranger-MacWilliam Reimer Gibson
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted September 15, 2013 Posted September 15, 2013 First period. Excellent poise by the blue line on the PP (Rielly, blacker) Ranger with some big hits GOAL Kadri (1)with a beautiful and patient goal (Raymond (1), MacWilliam (1)) GOAL good battle behind the net by Gauthier, nice pass to Brodie(1) in front of the net (Gauthier (1)) Nice shot blocking by Biggs on the PK
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted September 15, 2013 Posted September 15, 2013 Man raymond is so fast! what a goal... I hope he makes the team if he keeps this up
havok24 Old-Timey Member Posted September 16, 2013 Posted September 16, 2013 Paul Ranger looks really good. Morgan Rielly is a stud. It would be a complete waste to send him back to the dub. Let him play sheltered minutes on the third pair with Ranger or something. Phaneuf - Gunnar Franson - Gardiner Rielly - Ranger Would be ideal.

Could still use a stud to go with Phaneuf but excellent.

Could still use a stud to go with Phaneuf but excellent. It's a valid point, but it's kind of a tough situation. He can't play in the AHL because he is only 19, so it's either the NHL or junior hockey. Is it really beneficial for his development to dominate a bunch of 16-18 year old kids? I don't think so. Allow him to get a taste of NHL hockey this year with sheltered minutes (Dougie Hamilton treatment) before taking the kid gloves off next season. Sure the clock on his ELC will start, but it's better for his development to play against the best in world as opposed to dominating 16-18 year old kids who are no where near his level. Plus he makes our team better now anyway.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted September 16, 2013 Author Posted September 16, 2013 That's fair enough, it's just that this team has enough financial concerns as is. I completely agree with your train of thought, it's just a bit worrisome on the dollars side.

GD Old-Timey Member Posted September 16, 2013 Author Posted September 16, 2013 Yup. We really need to try and move Liles, but that's probably not going to happen. I heard we tried to and there was no interest. Shame, he's never been the same since the concussion, he used to be pretty awesome.

Shame, he's never been the same since the concussion, he used to be pretty awesome. All I remember was some douche on the Sabres running him over in a game 2 years ago. f*** the Sabres lol. On another note, Paul Ranger is a really likeable character. His interviews are a breath of fresh air in comparison to the average cliche sports interview. Seems like a real genuine and intelligent human being.
