KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 Still doesn't make sense. He can dump that money elsewhere. Could we see Beane do something crazy and make Johnson a starter? I'm not sure that you can just dump Anderson anywhere. The Jays are desperate for pitching and yet no one here wants them to give a rotation spot and 8 million dollars to such an unreliable option. Why would it be different for other teams?
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 If Anderson goes the other way it's basically 2 million. But why not get one someone cheaper and still move Anderson? Unless Orioles want him that badly. Even then I just can't see the A's relegating 10M to a closer. It goes against their entire belief system. Besides, Dombrowski will probably trade Scherzer for Jim Johnson at the rate he's going.

Santos, Janssen or Delabar make more sense. Gray or Brett

Because you can't move Anderson without money coming the other way. No one wants to allocate their free agent money to someone with his injury history.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 Santos, Janssen or Delabar make more sense. Gray or Brett Perhaps... The point was that Anderson going the other way was the way to make the Johnson deal make sense. Of course, at this point, it doesn't look like that deal is happening at all so it's all kind of moot.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 Hudson will get non-tendered by DBacks, sign me up! I agree, no downside if the cost isn't high. If he isn't healthy then one of the kids can take over (provided he's not the only pitcher we sign).
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 Daniel Hudson is non-tendered, AA get on it! Also A's acquire Jim Johnson in exchange for Jemail Weeks
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 WTF??? On both topics, lol. Man the A's have been bu$y today... Kasmir for 2/$22M and Johnson trade (he's projected to get $10+M through arb). Wonder where the A's are whipping this money from? I guess they have enough money after letting go Chris Young & Grant Balfour
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 Hudson will get non-tendered by DBacks, sign me up! Oh wow, I can't believe it. I love Hudson - have been a fan since he was drafted and coming up through the minors. He looked like he was going to be one of the better starters in baseball back in 2011! I'd love to see the Jays sign him up - likely won't be ready until July, but still wow!
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 Where did you here this? I thought they were going to avoid arb, the 2 TJ surgeries is scary, but not for what he'll get paid. I'd love to see the Jays sign Daniel Hudson. He's a fantastic pitcher when healthy.

Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 no way Jim Johnson gets anywhere near 10 million, maybe 6 or 7 He got 6.5 last year. He'll get more than 8, and 9 or so is highly likely.

mitchf Verified Member Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 HUDSON.. Wow let's get this done immediately.
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 I'm expecting lots of big signings within the next few days.. things have finally started! I have a feeling the mariners will be making 1-2 big signings soon.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 It seems like Beltran (who has a 3/48 offer, maybe Royals or M's) and Salty (who has an offer from Marlins) are also going to sign today. This is a really crazy day. Everything might be done before the meetings next week lol.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 Was this discussed earlier (don't feel like going back) http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2013/12/yankees-will-not-offer-over-200mm-to-cano.html How much of that is posturing? I'd be tempted at that valuation. That puts him at 37 at the end of the deal. What is JFaS's method, 5% increase in cost per win by year, .5 drop in WAR by year? (can't remember). A 160 /7 year deal is 22.86MM yearly makes him 'worth it' almost every year of that deal.
TRM Verified Member Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 The article on Yahoo suggested that the Nats and the Mariners would still likely go to 200. Heck, I'd probably do 8x25, problem is AA won't go over 5 years.
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 #Cubs name Eric Hinske as 1st base coach
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 Value calcs are NJH's department! misappropriated credit... for shame
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 Mariners Have Emerged As Major Players For Robinson Cano.. didn't they sign a big tv deal last year? I'm expecting a big offseason for them

TheHurl Site Manager Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 Hinske hired as the Cubs firstbase coach

Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 Doesn't have to be top prospects and then sign one of the outfielders remaining, just a thought lol What would you give up for ackley?
