Can we get bans for unlinked NWS (see: In The News Thread). Being able to browse the forum at work without worrying about nudity is kind of nice.

Hey guys - I'm new to the board. Like what I see.

I'm a left over from the old ESPN Blue Jays Message Board - former user name was "wsox_fan75". Any regulars here that used to post there before it got shut down?

Did you use to be a white sox fan?

Sure did. Back in the days of Frank Thomas, Jason Bere and his "fosh", One Dog, Ventura, Black Jack, Wislon Alverez and Alex Fernandez...amazing. Over time, I just grew apart and for years have been a die hard jays fan.

I was wondering why these are in your main nav if they are 2 years old:

Midseason Top 30 Prospects

http://www.bluejaysmessageboard.com/threads/647-2013-Toronto-Blue-Jays-Top-30-Midseason-Prospects

Contracts & Payroll

Well the last forum top prospect list kinda sucked. Probably why it was never updated. lol.

Who cares, let's do it anyway. You'll easily get enough participation to run it to top 10 at least. There's nothing else to discuss right now, and this is an exciting time to rate the Jays prospects, because everyone will have a different list.

Ok I'll throw something together

Even if we just did a top 10/20, and then replaced the old list with the new one. Probably get more participation through polls than people having to submit their own rankings.

Another idea could be to create a "Top 10 under 25" list instead of a prospects list, if the prospects list wasn't getting a lot of support. Might be interesting to see how people rank guys like Norris relative to how they rank Hutch.

And yes, I agree, polls are the best and easiest way to engage people. Submitting personal rankings makes it like homework, and it's probably too much for some people all at once. With polls, people can vote on their own time on each one and. Additionally, you can make a rule that a poll will be considered closed when it either a) expires on its own, or B) receives 20 votes (or whatever pre-determined number). This way we can move through the early ranks a bit faster, since those are generally obvious picks anyway.

Okay,

1) 2 or 3 days for each poll?

2) Can someone tell me the prospect eligibility of Aaron Sanchez, Daniel Norris, Dalton Pompey considering service time/PA/IP etc.

Could do 1 day for first 3 or 5 guys, and 2 days for every one after that. 3 days is too long.

And all three of those guys are still rookie-eligible. So they're all considered prospects for this exercise,

I don't think Aaron Sanchez is rookie eligible.

He made his first appearance on July 23rd, and stayed up for the rest of the season. That's more than 45 days on the active roster. Does the eligibilty exclude September?

Posted

Yeah I was just about to say that I lied. Sanchez has 69 days of service time, he's ineligible.

Determining rookie status:

A player shall be considered a rookie unless, during a previous season or seasons, he has (a) exceeded 130 at-bats or 50 innings pitched in the Major Leagues; or (B) accumulated more than 45 days on the active roster of a Major League club or clubs during the period of 25-player limit (excluding time in the military service and time on the disabled list).

Sounds like a good idea.

Also under 25 would be interesting.

In that case, I have no idea how many days he's got. If it's based on service time, he isn't eligible, and if September is excluded regardless to service time, then he might be.

Oh whatever, who cares, just put him on the list lol, he's only thrown 33 innings.

What's happening with the board Twitter account? Having an active one seems like a good idea. Orioles Hangout has an active account and it generates plenty of interest for their community.

Hey all,

I realise this isn't the place to say this but I wanted to say it somewhere. I'm from the UK and completely new to baseball (and ice hockey). I am bound to say stupid things and ask stupid questions so please bare with me. Also - I might not post much to start as I'm here to learn so please don't delete my account if it's barely used to chat for awhile. Cheers all.
