  1. Upon reflection, this roster is perfect if we just signed Harrison Bader 😩. Schneider/Sanchez and Bader/Barger platoons would've fed families.
  2. Cupboard is bare. Willing to risk being flamed... Rengifo, Lukes packaged for Jojo. Sign Scherzer. Leo next guy up and into the season we go.
  3. Solid floor raising move. I've always liked Sanchez's profile and aside from ideally adding a righty masher, he fits to a tee. I just don't see any way Lukes is on the roster opening day, barring injury.
  4. I wonder if we could pay a portion of his salary, attach a prospect and flip him for Albies? Seems like something AA would explore. Albies is an option for the 2 hole against LHP and we can platoon Clement/Gimenez/Albies in the middle inflield. I still would like a floor-raising move.
  5. I hear what you're saying and we'll get a better idea once we get into Spring Training. The indications I have gotten is it's not a Santander/Teo situation, just more of an average glove. He did win a couple GG's in Japan. For a team that prioritizes defensive profiles, I'm pretty confident they feel good about him being even an above-average glove at the hot corner.
  6. I mean we've got a guy who's primary position is 3B in Okamoto. I don't see why Barger isn't locked into RF and Okamoto is locked into 3B in 2027. Varsho even with a 4-5 WAR season can be retained, likely attached to a QO and concerns about how he'll age. LF you can figure out some sort of platoon, I don't think it's quite that dire.
  7. These are floor-raising moves. I look at a move for Donovan as a move that doesn't necessarily raise the team WAR like a big ticket signing would have, but it protects against injuries and underperformance. At the very least it gives you more favorable matchups for those guys that are in platoons or we'd like to rely on a little less. I think the importance of building that depth, which to be fair they have done a great job of, is often overlooked in this conversation of team WAR and trying to add wins. From a roster construction standpoint, we also have a hole in the 2 hole. I think he'd be one of our best options there if he was acquired.
  8. Just let Varsho play out the season. If he stays healthy and maintains some of the power you can extend him a QO. Even with a big season, what is he maxing out at like, 5/90? He'll be gettable. Now, if you could extend him at like 4/60 right now I'd probably bite.
  9. Unless they move Berrios I can't imagine they invest anymore in the rotation. I'm expecting Bo/Tucker and a bullpen piece. That probably costs you $40-50M. I'd be surprised if they move into the highest tax.
