  1. Do you honestly expect the manager to sit in front of the mic and tell the opposition what goes into their decision making? Now that would be stupid!!!
  2. It's exactly this narrow focus that I don't understand. There are plenty of reasons why that game was lost but everyone dwells on one decision. Dominguez had a chance to put out the fire but failed miserably, the offense had several chances to score but failed. It was a team effort.
  3. Exactly. They have more data than we (or the broadcasters) do.
  4. If you squint hard enough or shrink sample sizes etc, you can nearly always find #'s that will end up on either side of a decision. The deciding factor Friday night was that John Schneider trusts his guys. He has faith in the people that got the team to this point. That's why players respond for him. Is this team even in this position without Little taking the ball in nearly half the games this season? And he made a lot of big league hitters look terrible along the way. People were mad about the loss, I get it. But when the reaction is to immediately come here and type "fire John Schneider" I tend to lose my mind. Our own broadcasters don't even stop and think before opening their mouth and spewing garbage. None of these people have access to the info that went into making this decision but they decide to be experts anyhow. Several people on the Sportsnet broadcast owe John an apology and I'll be very disappointed if I don't hear exactly that to begin the broadcast today.
  5. Have there been any opportunities to close a tight game late? Not that I recall.
  6. Here's what I think happened last night. I'm 100% sure that they would have used Hoffman against the top of the lineup last night had he been available. I don't recall seeing him doing anything but sitting on his chair, no stretching, nothing. He must have been feeling something. Schneider doesn't want to give the opposition any info so instead he takes the bullet in the chest. Dominguez struggles against lefties so they thought Little against Raleigh and Polanco right handed was the best option.
  7. Now there's some BS circulating about Little (or his family) receiving threats on social media. FFS people!!! It was bad enough when Yankees fans did that to Yesavage. Now Jays "fans" are doing it to their own team. I've always felt that it's wrong to throw teammates, colleagues or friends under the bus. There's plenty of reasons why that's not a good idea but at the top of the list is inciting people to do stupid things like this. Nobody feels worse than Brendon Little or John Schneider after what happened last night. Their teammates know that and the last thing they'll do is throw them under a greyhound. Good teammates pick each other up when they're down and every player on that team wants to do that tomorrow. If not they might as well not show up. If I was John Schneider or Brendon Little I would tell every one of Siddall, Joseph, Shipman and Pillar to pound sand next time they come looking for a quote.
  8. I have some info but its 2nd hand so I'm not willing to share just yet. Siddall absolutely ripped into Schneider last night when he had no facts whatsoever. He has no idea what caused the decisions that were made but he went off anyway. I prefer to give the people that have provided us with this great playoff run the benefit of the doubt.
  9. Isn't that exactly what all the critics are doing? Does anyone not with the team have the facts that went into last night's decision? The answer is no. Maybe Hoffman was down, he never got off his chair. Only the decision makers know for sure.
  10. Criticism is fine. It's what they do. But I heard (didn't see/hear it for myself I turned the channel) he said some things that clearly crossed the line last night. Still waiting to see video of it.
  11. You're right, they're not done. But they would be if JS threw people under the bus the way Siddall does.
  12. Joe Siddall should consider himself lucky if him and his big mouth still have a job come game time on Sunday. He's a moron afaic and it wouldn't bother me one bit if he got kicked to the curb.
  13. You think that'll help them win the game? That's no different than fans booing Springer when he was down last night.
  14. I agree that Hoffman has been better recently and Little has been shaky. I think Little has been shaky from the amount of wear and tear this year. They were hoping his arm would bounce back after 4 days off I believe. The problem with scrutinizing these decisions as a fan is the fact that we don't have all the information. Maybe Hoffman didn't feel right yesterday. They're not going to come out and tell the opposition that he's down. We just don't know.
  15. I'm not usually one to dig into the stats pages as I normally have better things to do and prefer to watch the games with my eyes but I couldn't resist today. Here are some 2025 numbers. Hoffman - .805 OPS vs lefties Dominguez - .816 OPS vs lefties Little - .592 OPS vs righties .601 OPS vs lefties Raleigh, Polanco and Naylor to begin the 8th last night. 3 dangerous lefties in a row. Would you want Dominguez or Hoffman to face them with those numbers or flip the first 2 to the right side and have Little face them? It's the easiest thing to say "I told you so" after the fact when something doesn't work out (Joe Siddall are you listening?) anyone can do that. Not so easy to make tough decisions in the heat of a baseball game. The home run Raleigh hit was a glorified pop-up. It could just as easily been caught by Straw and things might have turned out differently. It's luck, it's baseball, that's the way it goes sometimes. The Jays aren't even in this position if it weren't for Little taking the ball (and being extremely nasty) more than any other reliever in the league this year. As for John Schneider, put yourself in those shoes for a day and have all your decisions scrutinized the the nth degree, and have an entire country want to rip off your head when it doesn't work out. Have some empathy for these people. They're trying to bring us a championship and taking years off their life in the process. Schneider has his players backs and they have his. It's what got them this far and it's what will allow them to win the next 2 games.
  16. Exactly. All these guys with their BS on these threads every time something goes wrong like they could do better. I'd like to see them try to manage an MLB team in the playoffs. They'd all piss their pants and melt into the puddle by the 1st inning.
  17. Name calling is what people resort to when they lose an argument.
  18. It's the armchair managers that think they know everything that are brain dead. It's like you've never watched a baseball game before.
  19. Hoffman is the closer. He had the 9th. Dominguez gave up the hit batter and grand slam that cost them the game. Fisher is a rookie with a backup breaking ball that's been doing things with smoke and mirrors and looked shaky lately. Bassitt and Lauer are long men neither of which has ever seen a high leverage late game bullpen outing. Any more bright ideas?
  20. You have no idea. Exactly what I thought. When they fire John Schneider (which won't happen) do me a favor and apply for the job.
