The thinking is probably to let him get his first appearance as a starter as thats what he's most used to, plus its even in a minor league ballpark. He will pitch a few innings and than Lauer pitches a few. Buys Berrios and Bassitt another day of rest, who have clearly benefited from it. Bieber and Gausman will probably still start on 4 days rest, so you're basically just replacing a Berrios start with a Yesavage/Lauer start. -

The Jays have gotten the most value out of PH'ers in the league, so I kinda give JS and Pompkins the benefit of the doubt with that. If we lose I blame this on taking out Lauer.

But JS manages assuming everything happens exactly as he plans. If he just left Lauer in, Gunnerson probably doesn't steal. And if O'neil gets on, its fine cause a lefty is up next. Lauer wasn't in trouble at all. But with Dominguez the margins are slimmer. If he doesn't get O'neil he is immediately in trouble.

No no you definitely don't bunt there with a guy swinging the bat well. Maybe if its a tie game, but if you are down 1 you don't want to just play for 1.

A lot of his damage has come against righties too. If Barger is going to play the infield more with Bichette out, I'd like to see Schneider in there more regularly.
