And yet the guy who came on allowed 3 consecutive baserunners. Ateast allow Fried to put on 1 baserunner before pulling him with the results he was achieving.
There is no way you take Chrochet out of the game until he at least allows 1 base runner or runs up his pitch count in the 8th. This was the way postseason baseball was meant to be played when you have a true ace.
This and the whole "3rd time through" when you see the pitcher being elite. Common sense has gone out the window and replaced by dweebs lol. Some good but def some bad.
Just imagine if the Red Sox kept Devers and had Roman Anthony healthy. That would have been a scary ass lineup to add to their pitching.
I forgot they also have Cases out for the year too... damn lol
Ya, I was hoping Varland could be that guy but sucks he had that blip. He probably would have been that guy if not for that. Seranthony is the guy to pick given his stuff/track record.
Relationships matter. If things are very similar, you will go to whats more known to you.
Again, I wouldnt be mad at Gausman being picked for Game 1. I just prefer Bieber and trust his stuff more in the playoffs.
Thats exactly how we needed to proceed all year but we didnt. The only time Hoffman didnt get the 9th was when he was being overworked and needed rest. I doubt they change all that in the playoffs when they had 162 games to do so.
No, my premise is that his season has been up and down but down enough to be considered one of the worst closers in baseball. A guy who's throwing 94MPH who gave up record setting amount of HRs in the 9th doesnt instill confidence in me
I understand the margin is small but i like Bieber better than Gausman and prefer him to get 2 potential starts in a series. Hes only had 1 bad start/inning as a Jay.
With that said, the Jays will probably value Gausman and his tenure as a Jay over a rental who could be gone at years end.
