    Maaannn... why couldn't this happen at the start of free agency. We would have gotten everyone at a cheaper price lol.

    That would be a dream number but I'd imagine other teams can easily match or beat that. I think it takes 3/100.

    After the Springer signing, I have a hard time believing players would be against Toronto given our current team dynamics. Players will go wherever they can they can contribute and win. If we were average or crap then I'd agree, we lose out probably. We got a bunch of great vets to come here in the early 90s and there wasn't even the Internet available for ppl to learn about us. Its 2021 now, if you build it, they will come.

    What type of contract would people here be comfortable giving Bauer and one that they think he would accept? He doesn't have a long enough track record to warrant a long extension at huge dollars but is good enough for a short contract at a huge number. You'd hate to lock yourself down to someone who might not end up being elite as his contract says he is and ruin possible future moves.

    It would only make sense if that 4 million was on a long term contract but for 1 year it's laughable lol.

    If you had to pick between Springer and Arenado at their respective contracts now... who would you pick? Ignore the fit part for now since we could have made a semien type move but for an CFer.

    So the Cardinals gave their 15th best prospect and lower for this trade? I cant see Arenado opting out of that contract. Seems like a steal for the Cardinals especially with the Rockies throwing in 50 million.

    Ya I know but that could have been with Fat Vlad showing up to camp. Sometimes it's good to see the player with your own eyes and use the numbers alongside to make your final judgment lol. Otherwise you start making decisions where you take out Shoemaker and Ray in favour of AJ f***ing Cole in Game 1 of the playoffs lol.

    It's more than weight loss... it's his desire to want to be the best he can be at all times. Just wanted to show that projections aren't always the be all, end all.

    You talk like youre a pitching coach for the team and know that Ray/Matz/Stripling are going to turn it around for sure next year. There's a chance for them to do it for sure but they can easily be another Garcia/Anderson/Roark. Walker was the best pitcher out of the bunch last year and that wasn't just looking at "ERA." That's all I was saying.

    Aside from Ryu, you just listed a bunch of players who had a miserable 2020 season. Walker just proved last season by being our 2nd best pitcher down the stretch so why couldn't I say he'd be our 2nd best pitcher for next season? But I do agree that he's closer to that pile than he is separating from it for next season.

    I got irrate skimming your post thinking that you were announcing the deal initially lol. A 2 year deal for Walker seems reasonable if we can't get Paxton/Odorizzi. He'd be our 2nd best starter at this point.

    It's crazy man. Guy almost wins the the triple crown and yet he's not anyone's target. We were close to getting Brantley so I'm curious why no one cared to go after him before we got Semien.

    Because he was touted to be the next great one and has shown this offseason he will do his best to reach those expectations. We are all hoping that his weight loss/dedication will mean good things for us. Otherwise he goes to the number 6/7 spot.

    Imagine if the Mets didn't get a new Owner... we'd be like the only team actually shopping out here. Part of this reason really wanted us to go after Bauer because this will be the cheapest we'd get someone of his calibre. Things will probably skyrocket next offseason.

    Agreed... Merryweather is like 28 and had stuff like that all this time. I think it's safe to say he will be a reliever in the best case scenario. Even then, I'm not holding my breath on him staying healthy. His stuff is too good for him to be in the minors.

    Good thing is we that we should have some great options if we encounter injuries. If we could add some top tier starters, our team and farm system would be almost near in a perfect situation.

    Ys I totally agree. I was just saying what I felt to be realistic at this stage. We actually need a real Ace and a number 3 starter. Ryu should be your number 2/3 starter but is being used as an Ace because of our situation. Shatkins have said they won't be able to plug all holes in one offseason. They planned to fill the remainder during the trade deadline and next offseason. 2022 is when I'll have real world series aspirations for this team because we all know the current rotation is not carrying you far.

    Ys we have a bunch of 4/5 starters on the team. Pearson was far from impressive last year even when healthy so to rely on him isn't smart yet. We have 1 guy who is a solidified above average starter and even with Ryu, his injury history is something to be concerned about. I'm sure we'll add one of Odorizzi/Paxton/Walker. Ryu Free Agent or Trade Pearson Ray Stripling/Roark/Matz

    That's an unreal rotation. Their number 5 is better than our number 2 for the upcoming season lol.
