  1. This would pretty much put us out of the running for Ray right? Even if it's a 1 or 2 year deal for Verlander, I cannot see us committing so much to our starting pitching.
  2. Baseballs the only sport that players need constant warmups during the game. Not only that but they can call as many timeouts as they want in the batters box... enough of the BS stoppages and have the players man up. There's enough downtime in between their outings for players to figure out how to stay ready. Otherwise enjoy the 4.5 hour games that only the diehards can watch.
  3. Along with the idea of pitch clocks, no more than 1 warm up pitch for pitchers every time they take the mound. That goes for starting pitchers to start a new inning and pitchers who just got put in from the pen. There is 0 reason for them to need extra pitches to stall the game when they could get that work done in the pen. Then you start putting a shorter clock in between innings unless the catcher was the last out since he'd need more time to get the equipment on.
  4. Report: Seager, Semien, other big names likely to sign before lockout https://www.thescore.com/mlb/news/2223537 Good news for us wanting action rather than the usual crazy long delays between signings.
  5. Thought this thread would be a good spot to post all free agent signings from around the League. Looks like Heaney going to the Dodgers on a 1 year deal is the first transaction of Fall/Winter.
  6. Well that's s*****. Sucks that the dude had great numbers in AAA and never really got a shot at the big club.
  7. 5/130 for Semien seems good to me. Who would have thought that Semien could earn a bigger deal than Springer a year ago lol. Also, I just can't get behind giving Ray a huge long term deal. Something about a 2 pitch pitcher who has a history of control issues scares me. I would refuse to pay based on his 2021 year alone since a lot of guys lose that same focus once they get their big deal.
  8. I would wager a guess that the offer would have been on the lowside of what Matz is expecting to get. That seems to be the way our front office operates which is a good approach. No need to outbid yourself at this stage.
  9. I have a serious question here. Of course Jose Ramirez makes us a much better team for the next 2 years based on his contract. However, do we reach a point where we have too many players on our team that we just can't afford long term that it doesn't make sense to mortgage our young talent for? Assuming we keep Semien and Ray, do you still want to make this trade thinking that there is very little chance we can actually keep Jose after 2 years. The whole plan Shatkins have been pushing is having a balance of experienced vets with controllable cost effective young talent.
  10. This rogers crap better not impact the Jays offseason. This will be the most important offseason for us in our rebuilding window.
  11. This I disagree with. I'd love to get Matz back but not at 1/18.4. I thought a 3/30 seemed like a good deal for him.
  12. I think it's a no brainer that we will tender both Ray and Semien. Now whether they come back will depend on how crazy the market gets. Really want Semien back though since I think he has a better chance to repeat his season.
  13. This upcoming offseason will define the Stakins era. I'm really confident they'll come out looking great, which is not what I would have said 2 years ago lol.
  14. Holy s***... I thought Shaw got that one lol
  15. I think Vasquez missed the original celebration but then looked at Correa and was like wtf are you still doing at home plate lol.
  16. Exactly what I thought. Vasquez couldn't have been too happy with that celly lol
  17. Screw the Dodgers and their 237 million dollar payroll. The fact they haven't won more is pathetic on their end lol #hater.
  18. I just came on here to bitch about that camera. Like what idiot thought it's a good idea to zoom out like you're sitting in the 500s lol.
  19. If we can have robo umps for the strike zone, we better be able to instantaneously review check swings too. It's really not that hard to figure out.
  20. Who would have thought the Rays defense would choke like this...
  21. Yup... got him before he got to the base. What a f***ing throw!
  22. I've only listened to Smoltz for a few innings and man... he sucks lol
  23. Rayyyyysss... they got this.
  24. As much as I love Vladdy, I'd hesitate to give any super long term deal to a player with weight issues. Around 8 years is the most we should go, which would take him to age 30ish.
  25. My only issue with all these Jose trade talks is that we need some cheap controllable assets if we have any hopes to sustain our run. That was the whole point of our massive rebuild. Gotta be able to plug in cheap guys to compliment the core. We're probably gonna be near our max budget by the start of next offseason and that's not even counting the massive Vladdy/Bo/Teo/Berrios deals we'll have to dish out by the end of next year.
