  1. Both scare me in terms of being able to keep up their performance from last year. Says Gausman will likely get a 5 year deal so seems like it will be right around where Ray ends up.
  2. Just posted this in another thread but would Gausman take us out of the Ray sweepstakes?
  3. Report: Blue Jays, Gausman have discussed multi-year deal https://www.thescore.com/mlb/news/2237149 Says the Jays are finalist for Gausman. If we get him, does that take us out of the Ray sweepstakes?
  4. If this is true then that's awesome. We desperately needed to improve the bottom end of our bullpen. This will help Montoyo look good if he can't use the likes Thorton. Just need to add one more elite bullpen arm now.
  5. I have no clue how this offseason is going to break for us. Really curious who we end up with but I hope we can bring Semien back along with 1 impact starting arm and 2 impact bullpen arms.
  6. Mets making some moves. I'm a big Marte fan.
  7. Matz would take the QO for sure imo. I'm glad we didn't give it to him since we could better use that money elsewhere. Part of me thinks the Cards and other teams would move onto other targets if it meant giving up a pick for Matz. He just isn't good enough for that imo.
  8. Maybe Matz is a spiteful person and did it purposely to the Mets for trading him for scraps lol
  9. Report: Cardinals, Matz agree to 4-year, $44M deal https://www.thescore.com/mlb/news/2234061 Wanted him back but looks like the 4th year got the deal done.
  10. Trio of Blue Jays headline 2021 All-MLB team https://www.thescore.com/mlb/news/2233811 Vlad/Semien/Ray made the 1st team while Teo made the 2nd team.
  11. I didn't say you did. I was speaking more in general terms of how he has that narrative surrounding him lol.
  12. Really hoped we could land Gravemen. We need about 2 players of his calibre added to our bullpen this offseason.
  13. Nope, argument is that Ray himself is mostly responsible for his performance just like Semien is mostly responsible for his. Why not give our hitting coach similar credit for Semien turning it around too? Of course coaches can help Improve a players performance but it's just a funny narrative to me that Pete Walker is Rumplestilskin lol.
  14. We'd all consider Franco the better player here no? Although Bo has more MLB experience so the risk should technically slightly less.
  15. So all pitchers that fail is the fault of the pitcher (Garica/Roark/Anderson + the pen arms like Thorton) but when a pitcher has a turn around season during their contract year it's all Pete Walker. Sure sounds great to get the benefit of the doubt almost every time here lol. Can we start giving credit to our hitting coach for "making" Semien too? Lol
  16. Our front office would easily give that to Bo and Vlad right now if they wanted this right? Does anyone know what the actual contract would work out for his free agent years (assuming he got near the top end for all arb years).
  17. Still can't believe we wasted 4.5 million on a guy who failed his physical. Getting a good closer/bullpen arm last offseason was the difference between us making/missing the playoffs. He should be coming back to us as a favour of good will lol.
  18. Got me excited for 2 seconds even though I don't want to give him a 5 year deal at the AAV he's expecting lol
  19. Well if you really believe that Ray can be a CY Young candidate yearly going forward then our front office should be all over bringing Ray back on a 5/6 year deal. That would only take Ray to age 36 or so, which means nothing since we wanted Verlander at age 37 after not pitching for 2 years. Personally, I still can't believe it's a good investment to pay a 2 pitch pitcher elite money long term for only having 1 elite season. We will find out soon enough where our front office lands on whether they're Ray believers like you or pessimistic like me.
  20. Especially when Ray has had ONE elite season, which conveniently happened during his contract year lol.
  21. Verlander re-signing with Astros on reported 1-year, $25M deal https://www.thescore.com/mlb/news/2228219
  22. If we could get a Verlander/Scherzer/Kershaw on a 1 or 2 year deal, I'd easily prioritize bringing Semien back over Ray. I prefer Semien over Ray regardless because I'm so much more confident that Semien could duplicate his season again. And I should probably take Kershaw off that list since the Dodgers must know what's up with his elbow if they didn't even tender him.
  23. Same... Jeter was the most overrated player I've ever come across in baseball. Don't get me wrong, he was still a very good player but nowhere near the hype he gets. He was never even the best SS for any season of his career but gets treated like he was the best player in baseball. The Yankee effect was definitely strong in how he gets viewed. The whole "he should have been a unanimous hall of famer" pissed me off. There are so many better players than him who never accomplished that feat because they weren't as lucky to be playing on stacked squad every year.
  24. I think my point was being misunderstood. I said the pitchers should definitely have their warm up pitches but they should have them in the bullpen instead. This would help speed up the game in between innings and pitching changes immensely.
