    While the hitting is a trainwreck, watching our starting pitching is a thing of beauty.

    Gonna be tough to do that... seems like the max this teams allowed to score is 5 runs if everything's clicking.

    Sure but it was still pretty damn good for a ROOKIE. Not sure why people are overlooking the most important part. Everyone was drooling over his potential in future years once he gets some more reps and rightfully so. Now whether he realizes that potential or goes down the Kirk/Vladdy path where they tantalize you with their potential but never actually perform going forward is TBD.

    Fans don't give a f*** about the underlying numbers for Vlad. That's meant for front offices to help tweak things to help him improve. We just care about his actual performance on the field. This will be the 3rd year in a row he has massively underperformed if he doesn't turn things around. Now im definitely not on board the people who want to get rid of him. I still hold out hope he'll figure things out eventually. Even if he doesn't, his value won't be all that great considering his recent performance and uncertain contractual status.

    Performing in the playoffs as a ROOKIE is something remarkable so there's no reason to put down Moreno especially when we've seen all our hitters shrivel when the lights get brighter. Gurriel also played great for his standards. What made the Varsho trade receive more hate was seeing an overweight Kirk struggle. Whether justified or not, the trade made it seem like the front office chose Kirk over Moreno. Then the front office decided to sign KK, which made Varsho's best skillset less valuable. This was while Varsho was batting 9th for one of the worst offenses that were in the playoffs. With all that said, i think it's pretty easy to see where the frustration came from so let's not be naive here. No one expects Varsho to keep up this offensive production but let's hope he continues to improve on a down year, it's great to see

    I don't disagree with the Varsho part. I didn't watch much of Arizona play so most of what Varsho was doing was brand new to me so I was harsher on him. I also never liked the trade for a few reasons. In regards to Berrios, I always held out hope for him in the long run simply because his body of work was too great.

    I said it before but I'd rather see Vlad at 3B than see Turner there at this stage of his career. It was understandable to leave Vlad at 1B when his bat was good but he's been horrible for his standards so why not see if he can provide positional flexibility. This team needs all the bats it can get into the lineup and that's obviously easier to do if Vlad was at 3B for some situations. If this front office can allow Bo to suck balls for this long at SS, Vlad's thinking why can't I play 3B lol.

    Can someone find out what the hell happened to Kirk's power? Dude looked like he'd get 20 HRs with a .280 average in his sleep. I guess we can say the same thing about Vlad/Springer.

    Varsho is playing amazing and I'm really happy for him. I've hated on him A LOT but his play really warranted that. He seems like a great teammate and always stayed positive throughout the whole process. Take notes Manoah.

    I am still in shock how great Garcia has been this season. Hope he can keep it up because that's something that would be massive for us in the playoffs.

    Just checked how Espinal was doing and he's batting .128 in 39 ABs. Looks like he brought that Blue Jays magic over with him to the Reds lol.

    Hopefully they do a better job of assessing Manoah than they did in 2023 and also how they judged Swanson last week.

    With all these arm injuries, trying to think how they pulled that exact innings limit out of their asses lol. To be honest, if Manoah is good enough to rejoin the pitching staff then it just means the rich get richer. Now go get rich hitting wise lol.

    That's exactly the point. Our starting pitching and this year's bullpen can MATCH other playoff teams. The difference maker will be the offense and whatever we've seen over the past year plus isn't going to get it done. Not even trying to be a negative person here but just trying to state areas I hope we can be proactive in at the deadline since we didn't get it done during the offseason. The Jays will ultimately be judged by how we perform in the playoffs, assuming we get there. Now I will say that I hope Garcia can keep up his performance because we haven't that this type of super shut down reliever in a while and it adds a key dynamic that's needed in the playoffs.

    So happy to see Varsho not sitting playing LF. Never thought I'd utter those words lol.

    I absolutely love this teams pitching and defense but it would be pretty hypocritical of some who have laughed at other teams run differential in the past while ignoring ours at the moment. It's a clear indicator of what most of have feared and is similar to last year... we only win games that our pitching and defense carries us to. We need to start seeing some games where the offense carries us or it could be the same story come the playoffs again. We will be forced to go against another teams ace in the postseason so pitching advantages will pretty much be cancelled out for the most part. At that point, it'll come down to which batting lineup and bullpen can outdo the others. In the end, I'm trying to say that particular advantages in the regular season such as who your number 4 and 5 starters are don't mean much in the playoffs. They will definitely help get you to the playoffs, which is very important, but other aspects of your roster are put into focus in the playoffs so can they step up when it matters?
