    I was actually silently hoping that would DFA Springer before the season.

    There are lots of okay RH batters on the market, but I think the Jays have enough okay internal options. I think the FO should target and really good/great impact bat. I would not be satisfied with a marginal upgrade.

    I keep circling back to Bo and his looming free agency. He’s clearly playing well, and the Jays are in the thick of the playoff race—so I get why trading him feels off-limits. But in a video game world, I’m flipping him at the deadline to bolster the farm and maybe snag a young, controllable starter. I mean, look at what Kikuchi and García fetched last deadline—and yeah, pitchers are a different market, but still. That kind of return has to make you think. After Vladdy signed his extension, I honestly thought Bo’s deal might follow soon after. Now I’m not so sure. If this front office just rides it out and lets him walk for a compensation pick, that feels like the worst of all options. What do you guys think—do they extend, trade, or just let him walk?

    I've liked Lukes for a while, now. last year I thought he had a shot to stick, but I didn't see a very high ceiling - maybe 2 fWAR if everything lands right. I thought he would eventually end up in Pittsburgh or Oakland/Las Vegas and have a decent career. However, i am starting to think he's clutch in addition to decent peripherals. It will be interesting to see how he develops this year. I am definitely a fan, and would wish him great sucess wherever he lands (not unlike Pillar).

    I think this would be an optimal time to extend Swanson. By most accounts, he likes the org, and would likely sign a fairly reasonable extension.

    I think this contract *will* age well. Maybe not the last three years, but I think we've to see the heights of Vladdy's offence. I just wanted to not be another Debbie Downer.

    These are exactly my thoughts. I think Roden needs to stay down to get consistent playing time and avoid starting his service clock, tbh. I would love it if Myles Straw starts the season hot. Maybe he then becomes a trade candidate when Varsho is healthy. I really think a lot of Lukes, but I don't see him getting much of a chance in the org. I can see him going somewhere like Pittsburgh and becoming a consistent 2 fWAR outfielder there. I was 100% ready to give up on Schneider, but man, he's had a great sping. He is an easy guy to cheer for.

    I would almost DFA Springer at the point. He's awful. This would give Roden, Barger, etc a chance.

    I don't know if I am in the minority here, likely, but I hope the FO trades Vladdy ASAP. Boston is in our division, but to (say) get Casas and two of their best prospects would be a boon. Maybe Jake Burger and 3 Ranger prospects? Anyway, he will be a season long distraction. Buh-bye.

    I dislike the FO for many reasons. But, IMO, if Vladdy was given a fair offer north of $400M, and he refused, f*** him. Trade him now.

    I dislike this FO, but I think they gave Vladdy a good offer. I would trade him to Texas for Berger and 4 prospects. Berger (sp?) projects for ~ 2 WAR. the prospects could fortify our farm. TBH. f*** Vladdy.

    I really, really hope the Blue Jays consider trading Vladdy right now. If we can rob a franchise of 4 top prospects+, and maybe an okay option at 1B, it would make a lot of sense long term. I would honestly consider being really aggressive signing Bo long term now, too. If it's not too late. This whole scenario is s*****, but to start the season on such a sour note is brutal. If we get rid of the distraction, and load up, I could live with it.

    It sounds like Anthony Rendon will be riding the pine for the next two years. I wonder why they just don't cut him. It's embarrassing. What a bad contract. Also, do you think the Jays should trade for him? He plays 3B :)

    Kind of interesting. Scherzer always fit the Jays plans for 2025, but like almost everyone, I thought he would never pick the Jays in a million years. I am sure he had a few suitors for that price, and really, this guys is not hurting for money to begin with so he can choose to be picky, but he picked us. A really nice surprise.

    Vladdy signed a $28.5M deal, avoiding arbitration. If the Jays do extend him to a 10-year, 12-year, whatever, would they still have the option to defer some of that 2025 salary, like pay him $5-10M for 2025 instead of the $28.5 and backend that f***er? I mean, that would be an amazing way to free up CBT space, extend Vladdy, etc. Assuming Vladdy would be in agreement, to have a better team around him, would MLB allow this?

    I didn't realize how decent Santander's arm is...check this out... He ranks 126 overall, but his fastest throw is over 99 mph, putting him 20th. Huh.     If the Jays extend Vlad (75% chance, IMO), sign Santander and Alonso, does this team have the talent to do something in 2025?

    Honestly, if they sign Santander and a couple of other relievers for the bullpen, they should stay around .500 - which excites me because I want to see both Bichette and Vladdy traded at the deadline and start rebuilding this lame team and a ~ .500 record is likely good for last place in the AL East which will force their hand and make changes necessary.

    Yep, 100% agree. What sort of haul would the Jays get for these trades. A couple of blue chips and a few high risk, high reward youngsters? Who arew good fits?

    it honestly sounds like the best long term scenario for this franchise is for the team to not do very well, but have unreal seasons from Vlad and Bo, who are then traded at the deadline for a fistful of prospects and controls. I am guessing both hauls individually would be better than the Kikuchi haul - at least I would hope. I guess you could add some other decent expiring contracts to the list.
