  1. These guys sure got fleeced in trades they made I don't buy their perception of the best possible return on the Stroman or the Sanchez, Biagini, and Stevenson deals. They've got no guarantees on the Stroman return which he was evaluated as a good mlb starter and a 4th outfielder caliber player for 2 mlb caliber pitchers and a prospect. Seems like anyone who showed their future negotiation being problematic where dumped for practically nothing it's no secret that Stroman didn't agree with front end management. Sanchez has Scott Boras and he's known to be a tough negotiator and he not shy of letting organizations know the handling of his client especially if he feel they were mismanaged. One has to question the Blue Jays medical staff Josh Donaldson criticized his handling of his injuries from these guys. Hard to believe it took almost 2 years to figure out Sanchez finger issues. If one didn't know any better you think these guys were hired by the workmen comp. Just watch the Astro turn Sanchez into an ace type pitcher.
  2. MLB Commissioner has granted the Tampa Bay Rays authorization to explore the possibility of becoming a 2 city franchise. This will allow Tampa to split their home games between the 2 cities Montreal and Tampa. This is good news for Montreal as the Rays has been a dismal crowd drawing team in Tampa if Montreal shows good support for the team in which all indications shows strong support toward another franchise with a new stadium in plan in near future baseball could be back Montreal sooner than expected.
  3. The Rays don't trade for veterans they promote their own young cheap prospects and usually trade them away after they a develop because they can't afford them there's a reason they are MLB lowest payroll. The real need for the Rays right now is starting pitching they lost Tyler Glasnow to injury the only have 3 legit starters they have to rely heavily on their bullpen to start games. They've been doing this for 2 years now if the plan to compete this season they need at least one more reliable starter Snell, Morton and Yarborough can't possibly handle the workload for a whole season especially going down the stretch not knowing how Glasnow will rebound. The Yankees started the year with practically most of their regulars on the DL when guys like Didi, Judge and Stanton get back even though their replacement did quite well they will be stronger with their full roster.
  4. I never believed that so many people could be so stupid on baseball here. It's only after reading some of the post and comments that really exposed the true naivety about the game by some. First any player who in his walk year has minimal value because no team will invest in a rental player for only few month. The only exception if a team is going for broke winning the WS example the David Price traded and after Price walked away while the Blue Jays lost 3 prospects. Now with the new compensation rules teams are no longer willing to risk draft picks on FA that were given QO like Keuchel and Kimbrel now it's a waiting game with Boston and Houston having nothing for losing 2 good players. Still a no brainer signing Smoak would be cheaper than a QO and then once lock in his value become higher if they ever wanted to trade him.
  5. The problem with Vlad Guerrero jr is that the fans and the baseball community had enormous high expectation of him. They expect a grand slam at his first at bat tremendous burden for a young man to carry on his shoulders. Plus his shorten spring training and injury didn't help I think he doing just fine he showing signs of coming into his own no worries Guerrero will be the star they projected him to be.
  6. Guerrero Jr is getting pitches to hit he need to be more selective he's young it's a learning curve . Smoak is his protector because the pitcher rather pitch to him than Smoak. They also rather to pitch to Tellez or anybody hitting after Justin than face him. Just look at his walks they want no part of his bat he's discipline enough not to go chasing after bad pitches. The problem is that the Blue Jays are in a rebuild mode they're not going to go after aging players they only need one or 2 veterans on the team.
  7. Aren't we so canny for a Monday wow a type O big deal. It's no great wonder how an idiot like Doug Ford ended up being your Premier.
  8. The Blue Jays would be wise to extend Justin Smoak he's not going to cost them a lot good value for the money. He lead the team in practically in every offensive stat category despite having no protection. Smoak is most feared Blue Jays bat all opposing pitchers wants no part of him at the plate. He's among the top 10 leaders in baseball for base on ball with like of Trout, Gallo, Bergaman and Betts he's a great teammate and veteran with good defensive skill who could help the upcoming kids.
  9. The reason Chris Colabelo got caught is the same reason that everyone else got caught MLB started using more sophisticated testing equipment that were able to detect minuscule trace amount of PED. Just look at the list of some of the players that tested positive and got suspended. Dee Gordon, Raul Mondesi, Starling Marte, Robinson Cano, Wellington Castillo and Steven Wright to name a few. Nobody will make me believe that these players just started using and got caught these players were using all along just that they managed to pass the testing till now.
  10. Since they traded Dwight Smith Jr and became a regular he has more production than any of the Jays players on their roster. He would lead this team in BA, HR's and RBi's and played some solid defense at times with some spectacular plays looks like the Blue Jays might of screwed up on this guy. The real sad part is they let him go for nothing future considerations sometime one has to really wonder what the front office was thinking about.
  11. There's more than a few good players from the Dominican Republic some have to be cut from the WBC team. They got Jose Ramirez and Manny Machado who are all star 3rd baseman there's no guarantee other than his bat that he would make that team. In Canada it's a guaranteed that he would make the team. It's entirly up to him for which team he wants to tryout for.
  12. What stupid question Vladdy is here to stick they'll make sure of it, that even means if he has to DH every game. He was born in Montreal that make him eligible to play for team Canada in the WBC.
  13. Just to realize how the baseball expert think that Vlad Guerrero Jr will impact the baseball world the MLB network will carry his MLB debut game as Friday Night Baseball. This channel simply doesn't cover any Blue Jays games and hardly ever talk about any teams other than US baseball teams. They've been talking about this kid for days he has quite the pressure on his shoulders hopefully he can handle all the attention he has drawn to himself.
  14. This is going to crowd up the infielder positions the thing going for Urena is that he's a multi role player he can play all positions on the infield and some outfield. Now with the uncertainty of Galvis it might be wise to keep him once sent down they have to spend 10 days in the minors before they can be call up again. It will likely come down who has options the big picture for the Blue Jays is that someone has to come off their 40 man roster DFAed.
  15. Just announced on MLB tonight also by Cal Riken Jr everyone is excited for Baseball No 1 prospect being called up. They also talked about what position he might be best defensively suited for no doubt they'll give him a shot a 3rd but if things isn't promising look for a transition across the diamond to first base.
  16. It's obvious you're clueless on how the game of baseball should be played, this game was invented over a century ago and it's objective hasn't changed one bit the one who scores the most runs wins. The team that has the most methods of scoring run has the better chance to win along with good pitching. Baseball fundamentals haven't changed once taught it becomes instinctive to attentive players and practice through out their playing days. This is why teams practices are important is to hone these skills and apply them to everyday playing. There's obviously confusion on players role on a team there's a perfectly good reason that a starting pitcher only plays every 5 days and they have special treatment and routines is because without good pitching no team can compete no matter how good your offense is, good pitching will always control a good offensive team. There's risk for every player with every game played but the key is to control and minimize each player risk. Every player has a job to do on the field given the different situations and pitcher involved in a rundown isn't one of them. It's the infielders priority to be involved in such activities along with bunt defense, the only time a pitcher should be involved in bunt defense if the ball is close to him otherwise let the corner infielders or catcher get the ball they're usually in better position to make a throw. That's whole trouble with the game today too many players have limited basic fundamentals some teams can't even advance runners on base with less than 2 out usually SO or hit into double play.
  17. Rookie mistake you never force a runner to an advancing base you always force the runner back to his original base. Tellez should thrown the ball to Sogard right away for him to force back to first and should've stood his ground at first , Instead when he ran toward second then he ended up in no man land and stood there watching allowing Shoemaker in the rundown and the rest is history. You should never get your pitcher involved in a rundown no matter what it's too risky and the Blue Jays paid a steep price for rookie mistake. That's baseball fundamentals taught back in the little leagues. I'm sure the Blue Jays would've rather have a stolen base that losing Shoemaker for the season.
  18. Guaranteed that Guerrero won't play 3rd base everyday they will cautious with him at the start couple of days at 3rd one off in the DH spot don't forget Tellez isn't the only player they have to rotate in the line up. The top of the line up is pretty set now with Sogard, Galvis, Smoak, Grichuk and Hernandez. Guerrero is likely to be slotted behind Hernandez in this line up to start in his MLB debut. They're going to really protect this kid he's the Blue Jays future. Bench players are multi role players not one dimensional those are for the regular players on this team. Tellez playing is going to reduce with the call up Vlad Guerrero jr everybody can see that coming.
  19. Nobody said Hanson was good player that why they call him bench player because they sit most of the time. When Vladdy comes up he's going to chew up more playing time away from Tellez guaranteed. Guerrero bat will be in the line up everyday playing 3rd base or DH they are not going to take Galvis. Smoak or Sogard bat out the line up in favor of Tellez just check who is hitting at top of the line up and that should tell you a lot right there. They will probably start off Guerrero in 6 spot probably behind Hernandez.
  20. Hanson is a multi roll player he can outfield and infield and is out of options management wouldn't have accepted him in a trade for only a couple of weeks.
  21. I don't know if this will happened Tuesday as predicted but he will be called up sooner than later Guerrero has nothing left to prove at the AAA level he's one of the game purest hitter and all indication are that he will continue at the big league level. Now the Blue Jays has to make some roster move first to the 40 man roster where likely someone will have to be released. Travis and Pompey are safe cause there not on the 40 man roster and they're injured no player can be traded or release while injured. Then there's also has to be a move from the active roster Guerrero is an infielder the likely candidate to be removed is Rowdy Tellez who has options who is listed as an infielder. Drury is not going anywhere he's backup to 3rd base Smoak, Galvis and Sogard are regulars. In the last 7 games Tellez has an avg of .118 he had some success at first but the league has adjusted to him they know exactly how to pitch him. The Blue Jays will give that spot to Vlad Guerrero jr 3rd base and DH for days he not playing 3rd base. The waiting game is on for baseball most anticipated prospect.
  22. I'm sure the Red Sox are going to openly advertise that there could be underlying problem with Sale before exploring every option available. Don't about us down east we had things figured out long before you guys. We are ahead of you in time we live in houses that you guys can't afford and only dream about on large properties with double car garages and double paved driveways. We have plenty of ocean front properties and own our cottages have access to some of the best seafood available in the world. Our jobs are not monotonous factory jobs doesn't require any skills on an assembly line.
  23. I'm quite sure you do right you have all the answers to everything. Unfortunately it's only in your mind.
  24. Obviously you don't know how baseball is supposed to be played anyone can tell you that bunting is good in baseball for different reasons. First off strategically a bunt can be used against a tough pitcher, it also can be used against a poor fielding team, it can be used against the shift no matter how slow the runner is there's noway a 3rd baseman standing near second base can get to a ball bunted at 3rd and throw the runner out at first . The element of the bunt is to catch the opposing team by surprise and disrupt their defense it can presents so many option to the offensive team in advancing players, in scoring or simply get on base. The bunt is very good in baseball and leaves a managers with options to play different types of baseball.
  25. Dead arm can happened in spring training where there's a lot of throwing going on early everyday but if it happens they usually shut the individual down as rest is needed to recoup. Sale wasn't shut down like every pitcher he had limited pitch count and stretched out to begin the season. Sale had shoulder inflammation last year where he was very limited toward the end of regular season I think his dead arm issue might be more related to his shoulder issue.
