  1. It happen back toward the end of the 2017 season it was due to workload fatigue too many innings pitched. Surely this isn't the case this time it's too early in the season.
  2. That's because players never took the time to develop the proper techniques of bunting. You can blame everybody involved players, instructors, coaches and managers I can't believe someone reaching the major league cannot properly bunt a baseball. Definitely a loss art for sure in today's game it's time to go back and teach some of these basic skills of the game that made it so great.
  3. Signs of concern his velocity is down which is usually a precursor to a possible health issue. I'm sure the Red Sox are aware of the situation and hope he'll be OK with no guarantees.
  4. Bunting is a the perfect counter measure against these exaggerated defensive shifts. I wish more players would bunt their way aboard when these shifts are utilize if someone offers you a free pass why not take advantage of it. The league is complaining against these defensive shift I'm sure if more players would bunt in these occasions teams would think twice before giving extra outs to the opposing teams.
  5. Because most don't really understand baseball and it's a game that allow teams to win in many different ways. Teams that win Championship are the ones who can play different types of baseball instead of being one dimensional. The 2015 Blue Jays are prime example a power hitting team who couldn't play small ball when it counted the most.
  6. Tellez is DH at best he's a big kid with power and limited defensive abilities, slow on the bases plus once the league exploit his weakness he could resemble someone like Pedro Alvarez who had a short stint in the MLB. The game has evolved and teams are looking more and more at multi-role players to fill in their rosters. Now teams in AL seems to have leaning more towards these types of players to fill in their DH spots.
  7. In past few years for this team Devon Travis is the only player that we can truely say had the potential of being a true leadoff hitter for the Blue Jays. Many different players have tried the leadoff spot with no success unfortunately he's been injury prone and having knee issues playing on the turf might not the best for his career. Trading him isn't ideal for the Blue Jays with his value being so low they need to play him to see if he can become that .300 hitter that he once was at the beginning of his career.
  8. Because Tellez doesn't have the greatest set of hands or feet on a ballplayer. Sanchez is ground ball pitcher Gurriel is good fielder plus he had played some 1 base in Cuba so it gives Montoyo some options and it gets him to know his players better. There will come a day when he has to send someone down when guys comeback from injuries plus when Guerrero is called up cause Drury isn't going nowhere so the more versatile you can be on the field better chance you've got of sticking with the big club.
  9. Law is out of options he has to DFA ed and outrighted to AAA
  10. There should be 3 roster move to make room for Brito, Hansen and Law.
  11. Yeah his weight when he signed he was listed at 200 lbs now he's 250 lbs and the Blue Jays already told him he needed to be lighter if he wanted to handle being an everyday 3rd baseman in the MLB. I think these were pretty self explanatory conditions given by the front office.
  12. Scorates Brito was out of options so when they traded for him they knew he had to be added to the active roster.
  13. Tellez is one dimensional tool player a DH at best fielding isn't his forte as we all witness yesterday on chopped ball in the infield in the 8th inning I've seen better hands and range on some little league ballplayers. That was a butchery of hand bobbles with the eventually the ball dropping out of the glove on what was actually a doable out at first with the pitcher covering.
  14. There's also health reason and injury risk no one can overlook his weight issues and that can only be problematic down the road the Blue Jays has to protect their players development the best way they can for the future. Guerrero jr started being an outfielder because of speed they moved to 3rd base so he already transition from one position to another so I doubt that he object moving to 1 base this kid just wants to play ball and be the best player he can be whether it be playing 3rd or 1st.
  15. That will depend on his weight control because here what the front office said on that issue already" Blue Jays management believes Guerrero Jr. needs to be lighter to handle being an everyday third baseman at the MLB level." Now having said that he's showed at camp the heaviest that he's ever been in his career so obviously dieting isn't something he takes seriously if weight is an issue now at 20 things aren't going to get easier as he get older. That's why I believe moving to first base is the right move for him and the Jays for the protection of both parties involved sooner the better.
  16. This is good deal for the Blue Jays an upgrade over Pillar in CF well within their budget on what their market will allow. Remember the Blue Jays aren't the Red Sox, Yankees or Dodgers this administration team learn their craft in Cleveland a small market team. Don't expect to see 20 or 30 mil per contract here they've got burned more than on one occasion they're paying 20 mil for Tulo to play in NY against the Blue Jays in the same division. Depending if he can stay on the field back to DL for now.
  17. Tellez look mighty awkward on that play that's was playable luckily that wasn't called an error he look more like some pee wee ball player trying to make a play trying to catch the ball bare hand then dropping in the glove then out on the field movement and range isn't his forte. I guess that why the scout labelled him a DH at best you can't afford to give extra out in baseball. Tellez is big strong boy one dimensional tool today the game is changing now team are looking at DH to more multi dimensional guys that can help a team in different aspect of the game.
  18. Miggy didn't play 3rd base full time till his 3rd season with the Marlin at the beginning he mainly played outfield . He moved to 1 base when he was traded to the Tigers then moved back to play 3rd to make room for Price Fielder then back to 1 base with Fielder retiring. Vlad Guerrero jr is a big man listed at 6'2" 250 lbs it takes a lot more work to keep a big body agile and athletic. The fact that I don't like he's already shown a vulnerability to injury with this oblique strain possibly due to some conditioning early on his career. Vlad is possibly one the best hitters this game ever seen in longtime so why wouldn't the Blue Jays want to protect this kid from possible injury risk to insure him of a healthy longest producing career. Here 's the scouting report on him" At third base, Vlad’s no butcher, but he’s still average-at-best defensively. His offense will certainly cover that, but it is entirely likely that he will end up moving across the diamond or even to an outfield corner to utilize his arm. His quick feet and soft hands could be a big asset at first base." The scout clearly think Guerrero jr would best suited to play 1 base.
  19. I think it will soon come to a reality that given his stature and weight he's better suited as 1 baseman. He looks more with his build like a Miguel Cabrera than a Nolan Arenado, Miguel had also started his career with limited success at 3rd before moving across the diamond to 1 base. Going by his fielding percentage in the minors at 3rd base isn't favorable. Guerrero value is in his bat so why risk injury at the hot corner while he can become a better 1 baseman. I could see a short contract extension for Smoak to mentor this kid into a smooth transition being a good 1 baseman.
  20. Aaron Hicks has been injury prone he's been out more often than not he's yet to resume baseball activities due to back issues which has been problematic in his career. Might be see him on the field by month end if all goes well then it's just a waiting game till his next stint on the DL cause it's sure to happen.
  21. They're not going to trade Smoak first off he the only veteran left on the team plus when Vald Guerrero jr come up there's no guarantees he stays at 3rd base they might decide to transition him to 1 base for defensive purposes. Smoak is one the best defensive first baseman in the league and if they decide to move Vladdy Jr they want someone who can actually teach him the position. Tellez is exactly a glove glove caliber 1 baseman by all means his milb fielding wasn't the greatest that why scouts said his best position is potentially as DH.
  22. I can't really say I'm surprised by this trade Grichuk is equally as good in CF as Pillar McKinney in RF and Alford should be coming up. The good news is we won't have to watch Reid Foley again giving up 5 runs in an inning to team like the Orioles who are suppose to be one of the worst team in the league this year Law will take his spot. The Jays could've waited I guess till mid season to see what kind of numbers Pillar could of put up for better trade value but right now the need for immediate MLB ready pitching was the concern before the found themselves in a deep hole out of the box. Any common lead could become unsurmountable for this team.
  23. Sanchez will be the Blue Jays top pitcher in Cy Young voting Vlad Guerrero jr wins ROY hand down nobody else being close Smoak will hit 40+ dingers Bo Bichette will be called up in the 2 half.
  24. Australia??????? 2 major problems that I see 1 June, July August are the coldest month of the year in Aussie country it's their winter season with temp hovering in the high single digits and the low teens isn't the ideal condition for playing baseball. Their largest indoor venue has an only 18,000 seating capacity. 2 The flights to Australia are 23 hrs long man depending when a team would leave which can often be an evening flight which could lead a team being 3 day in between flight and game day. Other than exhibitions games the MLB wouldn't go for this especially with the travel time and cost.
  25. Morales qualities wasn't just on the field but in the clubhouse especially with the young Hispanic kids with a language barrier now with Montoya at helm of the club this isn't just an issue anymore. Unlike most I don't believe this move doesn't make a clearer the path for Tellez on the contrary it will insure that McKinney and Hernadez will stay in the line up especially that Montoya has chosen McKinney as the leadoff hitter. This can also server as a good precursor for when Vladdy jr come up especially if he has some defensive struggles at 3rd base early on then Dury can step in an help easy the pressure by relieving the some of burden while Guerrero can be slotted in the DH spot.
