  1. Short ball or small ball which ever you prefer is when a team emphasize placing runner on base and moving them in scoring position to score. This mean placing high efforts on individual runs and scoring them without the extra base hits. That means using every means available such as base on balls, stolen bases, sacrifice bunts, sacrifice fly, hit and run and the contact play. In other word manufacturing runs. The team who can adapt to the various type of ball will be the better team.
  2. Same team structure relying on the long ball to score the runs the 2016 and 2017 teams were structured in the same way with probably more pop in the line up than this one. The end results were the same when it come to the playoffs you need good pitching solid defense and timely hitting and this team couldn't deliver when they need to change their game to the short ball.
  3. Rafael Devers has been the worst fielding 3rd baseman in the league for the last 3 years in a row and that's including this year he's ranked #1 with errors committed. He's still a bad fielding 3rd baseman today the Red Sox doesn't have anybody to replace him he took over for Pablo Sandoval.
  4. MLB teams shouldn't be playing fantasy baseball with players lives. Fantasy baseball is for the wanna be GM while the real GM job is to provide team stability with an arsenal of regular players and depth from his group of bench players within the team financial realm.
  5. Vlad Jr was a mediocre 3rd baseman at best in 2019 17 errors in 96 games only Devers had more errors with 22 but he played 152 games at 3rd base. In retrospect there's noway he was remotely close of becoming a Nolan Arenado or Matt Chapman like 3rd baseman. If take them until they get to MLB to figure out what the best position each player should play then they got a serious problem on their hands. Time to clean house in minor leagues every other team has sense of what position their player should play and they transition them into their respective position in the minors where they can full develop into MLB players at that position. Yeah on how did that play out for Gurriel in the infield luckily he transition in the outfield fairly well but there's still situations that he's misplays the ball but he's improving with each outing.
  6. Then why bother to trade for the guy for cash and a PTNL and play him a total of 18 games then sell him for $25,000 what are the Blue Jays becoming the pawn shop of the MLB. I still question the talent evaluators of this organization you can't tell me that one guy is considered bogus and then traded he become magically transformed info a star player. Yeah Phil Plantier changed his stance at the plate but hitting 315 for a season is no fluke there's some serious natural ability being showcased. The Blue Jays had Vlad Jr playing 3rd base while all other scouts where saying he's a first baseman from day one now where is playing today. If they played their cards right he would of transition in the minors to first base and should've had Smoak mentor him instead of Tellez last year.
  7. It take at least 1000 AB before anyone can really judge what kind of offensive capabilities a player has and 450 AB that relates to about 150 games in 2 years. Urshela was used sparingly in Cleveland and Toronto with hardly any consecutive AB how can anybody evaluate a player with such small sample. Nobody knew what he was capable of doing because he was on the bench only when the Yankees traded for him because of injuries that he was given an opportunity to play everyday and to much surprise he turned out to be an excellent 3rd baseman that it force the Yankees to move Andujar. I bet the Yankees wouldn't trade Gio Urshela now for $25,000 cash.
  8. Don't where you got the numbers but Tom Seaver is 2nd ranked pitcher by WAR behind Roger Clements. Seavers career WAR 109.9 Blyleven 94.5. Seaver has 61 complete game shut outs a MLB record that he still holds today.
  9. Hall of Famer and baseball legend Tom Seaver passed away at 75. He was the pitcher behind Miracle Mets 20 year veteran with 3640 K 3 time Cy Young winner and a 12 time All-Star. One of the great all time pitchers in game of baseball.
  10. There's good probability that the Red Sox could claim him as Mitch Moreland was traded to the Padres
  11. Travis Shaw signed a contract with the Blue Jays to be the regular 1st baseman and DH when Tellez would be at first. I believe there's also some other incentives in Shaw contract for some additional money. Now the problem came when Vlad Jr was moved to 1st base and everyone knows that Shaw was originally a 3rd baseman when he first came up with the Red Sox and after in Milwaukee. There's a good reason that Villar hasn't seen any action at 3rd base for 4 years now.
  12. I can't envision how anybody can consider Villar at 3rd base an improvement over Shaw. Travis played 457 games at 3rd with a 965 fielding % while Johnathan player 54 games at 3rd with an 877 fielding %. Joe Panick has never played 3rd except for this season.
  13. Well out of 7 season he played 399 games at SS 345 games at 2nd 54 games at 3rd base and only complete 38 out 54 games at 3rd that would be an indication that he considered a middle infielder rather than a corner infielder.
  14. Villar is super utility guy who can play both the infield or outfield he hasn't played 3rd base since 2016 with Milwaukee where in 42 games he had 12 errors he could be a fill in in an emergency at 3rd but I doubt that wouldn't be the preferred spot anybody wants to play him.
  15. Robbie Ray is coming to Blue Jays as a starter in the rotation how it works out is to be seen Pete Walker's reclamation project for this year.
  16. It's has nothing to do with either league it's an MLB agreement the AL and NL have the same bargaining agreement it states the team with the worst winning record has priority over the claim. The Pittsburgh Pirates has the worst record in the MLB.
  17. Anthony Alford has been claimed off waivers by the Pittsburgh Pirates this will give him a second chance in the big league. Depending on the upcoming trade deadline his playing time could be substantial especially if one of their outfielder is involved in a trade. The Pirates own the worst record in baseball so Alford is automatically became their claim.
  18. If the Blue Jays can't find a trade for him after the 7 days the he goes on waivers all teams have 72 hours to put in their claim. If more than one team claims him he goes to the team with the worst record. After 72 hours if nobody claims him he now has cleared waivers and still is the property of the Blue Jays and can be demoted to the minors.
  19. The Blue Jays have 7 days from the date he was DFA ed to trade the player if unsuccessful he goes on waivers so any team can claim him for nothing. Rumors has it that if a trade isn't successful and goes on waivers he could be claimed by the Detroit Tigers.
  20. No I think you're a bonehead that made a stupid statement and cannot face the reality before you plain and simple.
  21. There's no similarity was so ever in between both swing Ortiz is smooth a fluid with a high leg kick with steady hands while Rowdy has more of jerky motion with low leg kick with some hand movement at the top. The only similarities are with follow through yeah watch the tapes I can tell a huge difference between both swing if you can't see the difference then this is pointless. Ortiz was one of the most feared hitters in baseball who could hit for avg with a high OBP and key in clutch situations. Just because both has a long follow through in their swings doesn't make them similar whatsoever.
  22. Congrats my friend you've just became the proud owner of the stupidest statement ever made on any existing sport board.
  23. This has been kind of a model for this team they seem to go for guys who had some success in the major and are down and out with their team and claim or trade for them on the low hoping to revive them back into successful form. Right off Joey Bats, EE and Smoak come to mind all guys who on the outs with their previous teams. Now they picked up Vogelbauch this only mean one thing this organization doesn't trust Tellez to be able to constantly deliver in crucial situations. They first signed Shaw to be the 1st baseman then opted for Guerrero and now they just picked up Vogelbach all 1st baseman/DH type players it simply doesn't make any sense to keep all 3 for a position that others on this team can also play if needed. We know Guerrero isn't going anywhere pick up Vogelback yesterday Tellez seem like the odd man out here he has low average, low obp and a high chase rate it's kind feast or famine when he's at the plate homerun or nothing.
  24. Tellez will be gone before Vlad Guerrero Jr guaranteed that's why they have him in the line up everyday and the reason for that is he's a regular everyday player on the Jays roster. Tellez on the other hand is regarded as a bench player with limited AB
  25. Hope this doesn't turnout into another Gio Urshela part 2. Never really gave the guy a legitimate chance and soon as he leaves he turnout to be very good everyday MLB player with better skills than some on this team who they kept.
