Except that someone isn't Rowdy Tellez there's an adjustment period when changing league and pitchers will get to know him better according MLB stats in the last 15 days Rowdy's lines .186 avg, 239 OBP, 302 SLG. Pretty much what we were use to seeing from him in Toronto every time he step up to the plate. The Blue Jays like to keep their DH spot open plus to give some ailing guy some rest and right now it's George Springer spot. The verdict came down from management that Tellez was now a redundant piece in Toronto and they needed more urgently some pitching so they got a good one in Richards for BP and potential good starter in Francis.

The Toronto Blue Jays have signed free agent Gregory Polonco 29 Pirates outfielder when he was released also they resigned Elvis Luciano both to minor league deals. Polonco was the longest tenured Pirates but he was never able to put up the numbers the Pirates expected from him I guess the Blue Jays is taking a flyer on him hoping he might become the player everyone hope he could be. Yesterday the also resigned Elvis Luciano to a minor league deal this will be the second stint with the Blue Jays for him as the had picked him up as a rule 5 player in 2019 he was released by the Blue Jays Aug23.

It doesn't matter what Tellez does they're weren't going to play him over Vladdy at first base END OF STORY. Rowdy had his chances here he couldn't do anything during his opportunity he made their decision that much easier to trade him. Get over it management did he wasn't what they were looking for in a bench player VERSATILITY.
-
Give it up Rowdy Tellez was redundant piece on this team a one dimensional player that could not provide the necessary versatility needed for this team. First base was occupied by Guerrero with Gurriel jr, Biggio to name a few who can also play first base when needed so Rowdy was just a piece occupying real estate on a bench with no urgent need for him. They did the best thing for him and traded him to a place where he get a chance to play there hasn't been any news flash lately that he's became the new Brewers All- Star.
-
This is a good acquisition for the Blue Jays Springer's time will be most spent at DH position till the end Dyson in CF Grichuk in RF and Gurriel/Hernandez LF. Plus it give them versatility also on the bench for defense purposes and pinch running. With the roster expansion it's likely the Blue Jays will carry 3 catchers going down the stretch with Jansen activated likely if anyone those guys get on base they will be pinch run for and the next guy will go behind the plate.

Rowdy Tellez to MIL for Trevor Richards and Bowden Francis
EastCoaster replied to King's topic in Toronto Blue Jays Talk
I couldn't care less how Tellez does because he isn't a Blue Jays anymore unlike some who thinks they traded away the franchise player and that honor belong to Guerrero. Big deal anyone who thinks he was going to hang around here as bench player is highly mistaken even though he would end up being a 50 HR hitter it wouldn't be the first mistake a GM made on a trade all we know is that it wasn't working out for him here in Toronto. Now he has a chance to rejuvenate his career so why the long faces. They traded Gio Urshella to the Yankees for cash today he turned out to be the 9th ranked best 3rd baseman in the MLB so I don't see too many crying over than deal. I know for a fact the team is much better now than before and that all we can ask for being Blue Jays fans -

Just don't get the obsession with this guy so he got traded which was the best thing for him. Tellez had a chance with the Blue Jays till the day they made Vladdy the first baseman then Rowdy would become nothing more than a bench player. The Twins actually released David Ortiz in 2003 the Red Sox signed him for nothing and the rest is history he became a 10 time All-Star it was the best thing for his career. The Blue Jays needs were more urgent for arms that a bat in the line up so management did the best thing for the team trade Tellez for some much needed arms and they got a good reliever in Richards and a potential starter in Francis which is a win for the Blue Jays. I don't know about any of you but the team is in a much better situation going down the stretch than before I rather see a Richards coming out of the BP than a Chatwood, Thorton or Thomas Hatch. Everyone should be concern on what the Rays, Red Sox and Yankees are doing right now especially that Rizzo has been hot for the Yanks. I like our chances much better now big weekend coming up with the Red Sox they have to win this series to make some gain. -

Today the Blue Jays are in better position to compete for a playoff spot than previously so trading players is a big part of the game other players have been traded some with bigger name and more accolade than Rowdy Tellez so get over it and quit whining it's water under the bridge now. -
Rowdy Tellez to MIL for Trevor Richards and Bowden Francis

FYI The tenure of Rowdy Tellez as a Blue Jays were numbered the day they announced that Vladdy Guerrero Jr was switching to first base. Anybody who though they would choose Tellez over Vladdy please identify yourself because you should seriously think about having yourself checked out. Secondly Tellez is a one dimensional player cannot play multiple positions plus no speed with the Blue Jays liking to rotate the DH spot left him with limited at bats. Some player can excel in that position coming off the bench they gave it a try which wasn't successful for him. So big deal he hit 3 HR's since being traded some players hit that in one game wait till he win NL player of the week or month then come back and boast about him then. Rowdy Tellez was redundant in the Toronto Blue Jays organization he was expendable and Atkins did the best thing for him traded him to another organization for some much needed arms. Now he has a new opportunity with a new team it's entirely up to him to make the best of it players come and go as a Blue Jays he couldn't make it here. -
The New York Yankees are acquiring Anthony Rizzo
EastCoaster replied to TwistedLogic's topic in Toronto Blue Jays Talk
The short right field porch at Yankee Stadium might help both Rizzo and Gallo into producing big numbers in New York. A right field fly out in other parks is a second row seat shot in the right field porch at New York Yankee Stadium. -
I agree the Blue Jays are ranked # 1 team in Homeruns in the majors offense isn't the problem by any means the problem has been the pitching out of the BP mainly. Despite having 3 good starter in Ryu, Ray and Manoah Berrios give us much more depth in the starting rotation. Now having new guys in the BP hopefully will help us down the stretch.
-
Just don't get you Yardbirds listening to you you'd think the sky was falling daily. You tend to overate players so they gave up 2 prospects there's no guarantee on these guys ever making it so big deal there's someone who rated these guys they weren't no No 1 prospects. Plus they have plenty of prospect right now what they need is pitching and unfortunately to get good pitching the price is at a premium. This isn't a bad deal by any means.

Rowdy Tellez to MIL for Trevor Richards and Bowden Francis
EastCoaster replied to King's topic in Toronto Blue Jays Talk
This is a non issue both teams got what they needed most we got a solid reliever in Richards for the bullpen who has an 1.59 ERA since coming to the Blue Jays. The Brewers got a first baseman type players which they needed. Rowdy wasn't going to stick with the Blue Jays anyways not with Vladdy at first everyone knows that they weren't going to sit Guerrero for Tellez. Time will tell who got the best deal but anytime you a 2 for 1 deal you've came out ahead in the game right now Richards is a solid arm in our bullpen. Francis seem to be a very good prospect so far in Buffalo he has an 2-0 record with a 1.50 ERA if he keeps it up he could possiblily be up. -
Rowdy Tellez to MIL for Trevor Richards and Bowden Francis
EastCoaster replied to King's topic in Toronto Blue Jays Talk
I simply don't get the Hard on love for this guy by some you'd think they lost their BJ buddy the hatred showed by some toward Grichuk and even Guerrero Jr at the first was appalling. Let there be no mistake this is the Milwaukee Brewers they're known for taking flyers on questionable players after the Brewers it's usually the Japanese league or the independent leagues. This is the last stop station everybody off. -

The Milwaukee Brewers traded one good reliever and a good pitching prospect for a part-time bench player at best the Brewers only used him as a PH only where he has yet to get a single hit. They haven't look at him for first base doesn't look good when Vogelbach is re activated. Good Job by Atkins to be able to dump him off to the Brewer for some pitching. This was a much anticipated trade with the writing clearly on the wall for sometime. The thing that surprised me the most was the return that Mark and Ross were able to pry away from the Brewers good job guys the Blue Jays were certainly the big winners in that trade. -

I agree with you it's a lot to give up for a AAA caliber player that didn't fit on the team. Tellez is having a bad year and there was no signs that he was getting out of it anytime soon. His demotion was probably the best thing for him to see if he could get things in order but unfortunately with Vladdy at first eliminated his chances of ever becoming a full time Blue Jays. Luckily Atkins was able to deal him to the Brewers for some decent pitching which is more than what I'd ever expected in return. -
Trade Deadline Rumors and Discussion Thread 2021
EastCoaster replied to TwistedLogic's topic in Toronto Blue Jays Talk
This idea is absurd Cruz is 40 yrs old he wasn't a good fielder to start with and since 2017 he played 9 games in the outfield and they were all with Seattle Mariners with the Twins he was used as a DH only. Cruz hasn't step in an outfield in last 4 years. Cruz is a DH only and that is his only value to any AL team. -

That's the trouble it's a crap shoot with trading and drafting of players there's no guarantees. Do you think if the Jays could've predicted what kind of player Gio Urshela would turn out to be for the Yankees they would sold him for 25,000 as turned out he's ranked one of the top 10 3rd baseman in the league right now. This deal make Atkins look stupid and Cashman a genius. The same with this deal if Richards and Francis turnout to be legit for the Jays then Atkins will look like a genius. Irregardless anytime you can get a 2 for 1 deal on AAA status player for pitching which is the hardest commodity to find in the game right now is win situation in my books. -
Rowdy Tellez to MIL for Trevor Richards and Bowden Francis
EastCoaster replied to King's topic in Toronto Blue Jays Talk
Here one baseball sportcaster take on the Rowdy Tellez trade: This past Tuesday the Brewers traded for Blue Jays’ first baseman and designated hitter Rowdy Tellez, who remarkably has been as-bad-or-worse than all the aforementioned first basemen for Milwaukee so far this season. Tellez has only played 50 games of Toronto’s 83,and has a 65 wRC+. He only has nine extra base hits this season, and has a .209/.272/.338 slash line. He’s basically served as a bench player the last few weeks because a) the Jays don’t really have a spot for him, with Vlad Guerrero Jr. playing first and better hitters available for the DH slot, which has been rotated among other sluggers like George Springer and Bo Bichette (among others). The Brewers are well-positioned going into the trade deadline, and they have a near-90 percent chance to make the playoffs and an 85 percent chance to win the Central. That said, they are probably the third or fourth best team in the National League right now, and would likely be underdogs in any short series against any of the other National League playoff hopefuls. The Brewers need an upgrade at first base going into the second half. Rowdy Tellez is not the answer. -
Rowdy Tellez to MIL for Trevor Richards and Bowden Francis
EastCoaster replied to King's topic in Toronto Blue Jays Talk
That's debatable not everyone happy about this trade on the brewer fan site:(I hope we are getting another player back in return. A straight up 1-1 trade does not make sense. Richards is a decent bullpen piece that can spot start. That's got to be worth more than a AAAA 1B/DH with some upside potential. Ron Robinson hit it on its head. Stat wise, this is Vogelbach's clone.) This trade served a purpose for both teams. The Brewers were in need of a 1st baseman with Vogelbach sideline and the Blue Jays were in need of some pitching badly. I see this as a big WIN for the Blue Jays anytime you can unload an unwanted piece of your team puzzle for 2 badly missing pieces has to be good. Richards is a reliable reliever who can give you multiple innings were the Jays has been struggling badly lately. Plus Francis a good prospect that could become a starter plus depending how things goes it's possible we might see him up in later parts of this season. Let's face it Tellez days were numbered in the Jays organization luckily they were able to trade him. -

This is a great trade anytime you can trade a redundant piece of your team for much needed pieces like pitching that they desperately need is a big WIN for the Jays. Rowdy fate was sealed the day they decided to move Vladdy to 1st base unfortunately he couldn't play any other position and the DH spot was needed for others it became much harder to find him AB plus having a bad year didn't help his cause. The Blue Jays did the best thing they could've done trade him cause he wasn't sticking around with this team. Good job by Atkins he got much better return than expected for Tellez. -
Jays acquire Corey Dickerson and Adam Cimber
EastCoaster replied to RustyTrombone's topic in Toronto Blue Jays Talk
That's fine by me I was sick of seeing him striking out or hitting in GIDP. I think this move will keep in AAA for the rest of the season at least this should give some better depth out of DH spot. -
Fire Charlie Montoyo - The thread worked guys!
EastCoaster replied to TwistedLogic's topic in Toronto Blue Jays Talk
Anyone who would have Tellez in a line up over Hernandez should seriously think about having himself checked out. There's no logical explanation that can justify that decision plain and simple. Sitting out one of the team best bat for one of the team worst productive bat. Montoyo is certainly not helping his own cause with stupid decision like that one. -
General Blue Jays Discussion Thread (2021)
EastCoaster replied to TwistedLogic's topic in Toronto Blue Jays Talk
Well Vladdy is really raking this season like the player they all predicted he would be if he keeps it up we'll be certainly up in the race for the triple crown and league MVP. Unfortunately his value keep rising along with his numbers. If he managed to win both accomplishment at season end it will take a mega million dollar contract to sign him -
Mets first baseman Pete Alonso is criticizing the MLB on allowing the baseball to be altered to deter mega contract to player in free agency. Alonso claim last year when it had a high number of pitchers who's contract were up to free agency the MLB allowed juiced baseball so player had higher averages higher numbers of homeruns and RBI which in turn gave pitchers higher ERA's going into free agency. This year he claims higher number of position players contract are up to free agency the MLB altered the baseball again as showing all the numbers a down across both leagues showing pitchers having the upper hand with lower ERA's players having lower averages less homeruns and RBI's.Pete claim the MLB is siding with the owners to discredit free agency.
