  1. Say what one will about Anthopolous and he certainly did some dumb s***, but he was able to acquire some good established players through shrewd moves. It's an ability that I haven't really seen with Atkins as most of his trades have been rather milquetoast. The Grichuk/Leone deal is his big shining jewel and while it was a good trade, it wasn't exactly something to write home about. The Cards had no room for Grichuk and were looking for some bullpen help and Leone had just come off a great season.
  2. I kinda like the park. Brings back nostalgia of all those parks that I grew up watching in the 80's/90's haha
  3. The Grichuk lock up was a little puzzling. I guess you need someone to take the field, but he's certainly not someone I'm going to enjoy watching for the next 5 years. Sure, he'll run into a few mistakes and go on some streaks, but I don't see a lot of upside with him.
  4. It's a hard thing to quantify, so you never know. As good as the A's were, the Jays had much more consistent hitters. I remember guys like Canseco going ice cold during one of those A's playoff runs. I recall injuries playing a factor as well. The manager role is a hard thing to quantify, so it's basically an exercise in futility trying to do so. But as I recall, Cito wasn't known for much in game strategy. He had the set batting order, vets would player every day and he'd just sit back. I suppose not over-managing is a good trait, but I'm definitely one who thinks that Cito is a little overrated, at least when it comes to Canadian baseball fans.
  5. You're seriously comparing Keirmaier to Randal Grichuck? I know you've said that you don't watch any Blue Jays games, but come on man:rolleyes:
  6. The rook got a basehit and was clearly safe, why deny him of that because of an umpire blunder?
  7. Nice idea to challenge it. I know it's a blowout, but France has had a tough day at the plate, nice to give the guy his deserved base-hit.
  8. Jays have really been putting together some "memorable" performance during these big weekend crowds.
  9. It's infuriating to watch. With those kinda numbers you need to hit 30-40 dingers, and I don't think Grich has it in him.
  10. Come on man, anyone would've have won with a roster like those.
  11. You get an extra late in the game
  12. I think Grich is out here, but it might be hard to overturn
  13. Wow! Are you kidding me!? Atta boy Rowdy!
  14. Now a triple from Smith. I've watched him quite a bit this year, It actually looks like he can handle the bat. He might be a decent piece for the O's.
  15. Smith with a couple hits and an RBI against Happ so far today lol.
  16. Can't believe they benched Vladdy on Victoria Day. Honestly, if he isn't nursing something, it's inexcusable.
  17. Wow, big game from Vladdy! Picked a bad game to miss most of I guess. Definitely gonna tune into Jays in 30 today. Awesome to see the boxscore!
  18. To be fair, AA said in a recent interview that the biggest thing he's learned over the years as a GM is how important player character is.
  19. It does seem that there is definitely a lack of camaraderie on this team. That's likely a byproduct that occurs when you transition all of these prospects to a dumpster fire team, you have no identity. I really wish Atkins would've supplemented this team with some experienced big-league talent who were signed for the long haul. It's hard to fathom why guys like Stroman and Smoak would embrace a mentorship role when they know they're on the move.
  20. Good lord, the Toronto media is insufferable
  21. These things sometimes happen around the league with odd men out and the only thing you can do is tip your hat to the other club. In this case, I feel like it's more of a blunder just because of how poorly the majority of the roster is playing. There's a strong chance that Smith ends the year with a higher WAR than Grichuk, McKinney, Teoscar, Drury, Jansen ETC. It's that fact alone that really magnify's the decision to cut DSJ loose.
  22. AA does seem to have a niche at acquiring players that he knows the fanbase will like. A signing like Martin was sure to be a huge hit in Canada, Braves fans were thrilled to have Brian McCann back on the team, Drafting Vladdy the son of one of the most beloved Expo's ETC. Oh and there was a s*** ton of Canadians on the Jays for awhile which excited a lot of casuals.
